Fascinator created for Leslie by VStylist Tamy Lugo

Welcome to our 2-Year Anniversary!

Last year, I gushed like a schoolgirl with a crush, writing individual love letters to VERTICAL and to each core contributor.

Why should this year be any different? Because with the passage of time, I have fallen deeper in love and realized the greatest joy I have ever known. It is a blessing to discover you are exactly where you belong, doing exactly what you are meant to do. It is an even greater blessing to be welcomed by a community with the passion and enthusiasm our friends and supporters express for VERTICAL.

The warm embrace of our readers mixed with the thrill of discovery is VERTICAL rocket fuel. Whether one by one or a bundle at a time, each new discovery is like a precious gift and it’s our great pleasure to share them with you. A few discoveries as we embark on this anniversary adventure…

Get VERTICAL…and be part of something fabulous!

A world of inspiration fits inside Tampa Bay

A fascination for fascinators

People embrace what it means to “Get VERTICAL…and be part of something fabulous!”

Wonderful friendships can be sparked in the space of 140 characters

We can do what we put our minds to

We can fashion our existence and fill it with what we love

There are all kinds of trips—day trips, side trips, ego trips, exotic trips, low-key trips and trippy trips

…and that the meaning of life truly does lie in the journey. So I offer these famous lyrics by funk band Lakeside (circa 1980): Come along and ride on a fantastic voyage.

Since the royal wedding in England, American fashionistas have been fascinated with fascinators. Now what exactly is a

fascinator you might ask? Is it a hat? Well, yes. Is it a headband? Sort of. Or is it just any big fancy hair ornament? Definitely.

For the last few decades, hats have been almost strictly functional. For shade, warmth, or pro-tection, hats have met almost every necessity, but have not been particularly ornamental. This is where the fascinator comes in. Without pins or magic, these adornments perch, sometimes pre-cariously, on the head, at any given angle, to the amazement and delight of wearer and viewer.

The wonder of the fascinator is that it works with just about any length hair or current hair-style. The teased hairstyles of the late 50’s and early 60’s may have originally caused the hat to fall from grace with the fashion world. The iconic Jackie Kennedy pill box was perhaps the end of an era. Outside of a few headbands and scarves, the resurgence of another hat phase has failed after many attempts. Few hat wearers, with the exception of, let’s say, Aretha Franklin on inauguration day, have been noteworthy at all. And then, along came the royal wedding, or should I say weddings, where everyone, and I do mean everyone, was seen wearing the most fascinating adornments of all. So who was the fairest of them all? Who knows? Princesses, celebs, commoners, and brides know these beaded, flowered, feathered, lacy, satiny, shiny, poufy, elegant, and at times outlandish head-pieces (which fasten to the side, back, top, or front of the head with something as simple as a headband), have taken the entire fashion scene by storm.

Who would have thought that the British, of all people, would have ushered in a trend to

In a Topsy-Turvy WorldStory by Bill Baker ❧ Leslie Joy Original photography

FascinateDchange the face of fashion. Since outrageous shoes, oversized handbags, and bulky jewelry have had enough exposure, why not head to the top for a little excitement.

Kate’s wedding will be remembered for the understated elegance, beauty and simplicity, and also for Fergie’s daughters’ laughable fas-cinators. Even the most highbrow affair needs a little humor.

So how does the fascinator fascination translate to everyday life in America? Instead of waiting until New Year’s Eve to blend fashion with fun, now seems to be the perfect time to top off your look with affordable, flirty fashion fun. The drama and stylish tilt of the fascinator brings forth flair and the flapper-attitude of speakeasy days. The cocktail hat has been reborn! From the British lace and woolen scarves of centuries past, to the pomp and pageantry ofweddings present, let’s see where fascinators take us next. If we keep our regal heads held high, demure smiles on our faces, and an atti-tude-adjustment close at hand, we might find this real world rollercoaster ride a little more, shall we say, fashionating.

While attending art school, Bill Baker saw the movie “Shampoo” starring Warren Beatty. It was then that he decided, like Warren, to surround himself with beautiful women. He feels lucky to have accomplished his goal in the beauty industry and hopes some of his observations and opinions prove to be helpful. Facials About TownStory by Kelly Seely, spa50.com ❧ Photography by SusanJeffersPhotography.com

AboutFace

Page 51: VERTICAL Tampa Bay Fall 2011

DELICIOUSHow does a Cucumber Parsley Peel with Paprika Gel treatment sound? Like a delectable salad, right? Midori Salon & Spa in Largo offers just the right amount of deliciousness for the face. Midori uses ilike products, an organic skincare line based on herbal medicine with all natural ingredients. Cucumbers are known to help blood circulation of the skin, while parsley is high in antioxidants as well as an excellent source of Vitamins K, C and A. Paprika is also loaded with Vitamin C and great for circulation. This uber-fresh 90 minute facial is good for most skin types and helps smooth, rejuvenate and hydrate less than lustrous skin. All Midori facials are 90 minutes long so the masterful esthetician may pamper your hands and feet with a salt glow, massage and hot towels.

EXOTIC“Indaba” means “gathering” in Zulu, the language of one of the oldest indigenous South African people. For centuries, the African people have used rituals and ceremonies to honor the body and mind, and also restore the body’s intrinsic healing properties by using elements of nature—which is what you experience during the Signature Facial at Indaba Spa. This organic facial includes a lip and eye treatment and uses harvest fruits, herbs, flowers and spices to restore balance to your skin naturally by incorporating exfoliating fruit acids, as well as stimulating and oxygenating spices to nourish and heal. This exceptional ritual is specifically blended for you by the skincare professional and is perfect for all skin types. Go ahead, indulge in the exotic.

OUI TO VIEThe aptly named Vie Eternal Youth Facial (“vie” is the French for the word “life”) is highly effective for renewing your skin’s vital-ity. Available at the Vinoy Salon & Spa, it is part of the luxury tier from Phytomer. The marine-based products in this facial peel help remove the epidermal (top) layer of skin, leav-ing brand new skin without the down time of other more aggressive peels. A four month series is recommended to give renewed life back to your gorgeous face.

FLAWLESSThe Cryogenic Facial from Abigail Egolf

Skincare results in a picturesque canvas of fresh, flawless-looking skin. This facial contains a rich serum of organic vitamins, antioxidants, min-erals, essential fats, enzymes and 100% bovine amniotic proteins, a combination that helps repair damaged skin from free-radicals. All of Abbi’s facials also include a skin analysis, aroma steam, exfoliation, extractions, massage, custom-ized mask and a soothing hand and foot mas-sage. This high performance facial is delivered by a lively and fun-loving esthetician.

For an indulgent, yet essential treat, explore some of the amazing skin care treatments that Tampa Bay has to offer.

Kelly Seeley is co-founder of spa50.com, the day spa authority and online resource for spa owners and spa-going consumers. Visit spa50.com for more information.

When we think of facials what usually springs to mind are the cleansing, extracting, massaging, feel-good facials. But some facial treatments transcend the basics, involving high performance “rituals” that result in glowing skin. Fancy a facial? Take a look at these:

Stained Glass Reflections of StyleStory by Natalia Galbetti ❧ Photography by BWLPhotography.com

The doors may be glass—nothing would be more appropriate—but from the outside, you couldn’t guess the colorful world that exists beyond The

Grand Central Stained Glass Company sign. A few pieces on the window only hint that this is an artistic place. But upon entering it becomes clear, much like the glass panels and sheets everywhere, this is not just where art exists, it is where art happens.

“This was something that grew out of a hobby, being an accountant by trade and needing a creative outlet,” explains Eloyne Erickson, co-owner along with her husband, Bradley Erickson, of the stained glass store and workshop fittingly located in the Grand Central District of St. Petersburg. “It felt right from the get go.”

Five years later, Eloyne is a long way from her beginner classes in stained glass. Now she designs custom made pieces for businesses and homeowners—a process she considers a collaborative effort.

“We talk about things they want to see. I help guide them along,” she says of her interactions with her clients. “I make beautiful stained glass but in the end, for them to really enjoy it, they need to be involved because they’re the ones living with it.”

To ensure customer satisfaction, Eloyne usually makes a home visit to analyze the architecture and décor that will surround the glass. In her workshop, she embodies both artist and engineer. The design is printed on paper. Each section is numbered like a coloring book, but in this case, each will

be filled with a different colored glass, carefully chosen so a beautiful translucent picture emerges.

Two walls of the shop are lined with sheets of glass, stacked in shelves like books—a library of color options to choose from. Erickson meticulously browses through myriad textures

and tones—such as Confetti glass, a transparent sheet sprinkled with paper-thin spots of

color; Baroque glass, a swirly pattern; Godiva, a mix of oranges and reds; and Hawaiian Sunset, Cherry Red, and Caribbean Blue. She keeps in mind the direction in which the sun will hit the panels and illuminate the room, bringing a sense of tranquility and whimsy with it, and also how

different parts of the glass can be used to achieve a more realistic effect, such

as mimicking the softness of a flower petal or the denseness of a tree trunk. She then takes each glass and places them over the printed design, tracing it precisely, turning it slowly, and breaking it exactly so.

“It’s like a big puzzle you have to put together sometimes,” she explains. “It’s like anything, the more options you know, the more you can get creative.”

And now that her once creative outlet has become her full time job, Eloyne is helping others find theirs, teaching stained and fused glass classes on a six-week cycle at the Grand Central Stained Glass Company, where art exists and happens every day.

INNER

GLOWDuncan McClellan’s Visions in Glass

Story by Janan Talafer ❧ Leslie Joy Original photography

There is something magical about watching the fluid movement of molten liquid glass as it transforms

into a vase or a sculpture or a globe. There’s the beauty and suspense of the unfolding drama, the danger factor of the intensely hot fire and the alchemy of taking separate raw elements and transforming them into something else entirely.

Duncan McClellan, an award-winning Tampa Bay glass artist, was hooked the first time he saw glass being blown at age five. Decades later, he finally tried it himself at a studio in Ybor City. That was 25 years ago—a time when there were no more than

three or four hot shops in the state, he says. Since then, the field has exploded with

interest and the medium has matured. “It’s not just about the blown piece any more,” Duncan says. “Now it’s all about content. Content and personal expression are what makes art, art.”

These days, Duncan finds he is less interested in producing what he calls a blank—a formed glass piece, similar to the painter’s blank canvas. Instead he is much more excited by the prospect of using both overlay and graal techniques, then sandblasting and carving away to create a piece that has multiple layers, both in the

Page 61: VERTICAL Tampa Bay Fall 2011

Page 63: VERTICAL Tampa Bay Fall 2011

physical sense as well as metaphorically. The result is art that is highly imaginative, intricately

detailed and filled with color and images, both on the inside and out. Each piece seems to glow with an inner light.

Much of Duncan’s work captures his love of nature and gardening and everything green. Gorgeous stylistic sunflowers, the lushness of Costa Rican jungles, dragonflies and whimsical monkeys are frequent subjects.

But there are other pieces that are tongue-in-cheek or poke fun at himself. Some are a riff on things that irritate him. “Theft,” for example, has a giant devil that appears to be running away with the vase. There are also references to various politicians, insurance companies, banks, credit card companies and a relative or two who have upset him.

A visit to this amazing glass artist’s new studio in downtown St. Petersburg is quite an experience. Duncan has taken a run-down former tomato packing plant and transformed it into a showpiece of creativity—a unique venue that allows him to live and work on-site. “Not much of a commute,” he quips.

There’s a large gallery space for his art, as well as other glass artists, sculptors and painters from around the world. There are also two kitchens and a big bar for stirring up a batch of specialty cocktails, perfect for indulging in his love for entertaining. He hosts monthly fundraisers for local charities, events that can draw crowds of several hundred people.

Outside, there are decks all around filled with glass sculptures and a half-acre planted with more than 30 exotic tropical fruit trees and bushes—mangoes, lychees, figs, citrus, avocado, pomegranate, Surinam cherry, plus more to come. In the future he envisions a large on-site hot shop and glass blowing demonstration area with a rooftop vegetable garden. “Gardening is my passion,” says Duncan. “Glass is my vocation.”

Residents feel somewhat protective of this unique waterfront commu-nity with its old Florida ambience.

No chain stores or fast food franchises. No tall high-rise condos. Just small boutiques, cafes and restaurants, some of which are rated among the best in the region.

“It was just magic,” says Michael Barnes of the first time he saw Anna Maria Island when his parents retired to nearby Bradenton in 1978. Three decades later, the Island is much more grown up, but there’s still something special about the place,” he says.

Especially if that “place” happens to be La Casa Costiera—a 12-unit luxury development with beautifully landscaped grounds and the Gulf of Mexico in the backyard. Built in 2005 by Brent Whitehead, who has a reputation for solid quality construction, the Italian Tuscany and Spanish Mediterranean-influenced build-ings were designed by well-known architect Emily Anne Smith.

“Each building is separate, giving the units more of the feel of a private home on the beach,” says Kathleen White, of Island Real Estate and the listing agent for La Casa Costiera #3.

Its balcony stretches from the master bed-room to the living room and offers the perfect spot for enjoying morning coffee or watching the sunset. And because it’s on the second floor, there’s a unique perspective—surrounded by lush tropical foliage, it offers extra privacy, plus a direct view to the Gulf. “That’s one of

the things we loved about it,” Michael says. “We could watch the dolphins playing in the water.”

The owner of the White Egret, a fabulous nearby island boutique, applied her magic touch to the home’s interior, which has an upscale Tommy Bahama theme throughout, as well as high ceilings and an open floor plan. Amenities include crown moldings, granite countertops, plantation shutters and surround-sound. An electric fireplace and wet bar with icemaker and wine cooler in the living room make for effortless entertaining, while the kitchen features custom-designed cabinets, top-of-the-line stainless appliances and both a convection oven and traditional model.

The 2,000-square-foot condo has three bedrooms and two-and-a-half baths but the third bedroom easily doubles as an office, den, library with its built-in desk, bookshelves and Internet access.

In the master bedroom it’s easy to imagine opening the sliding door to the patio and listening to the surf while you lie in bed. The sensation of serenity extends to the master bath where a built-in garden whirlpool tub is encased within an enormous shower, which is large enough for two.

Outside, the tranquil pool area and hot tub, gas grill and outdoor fireplace add to the island atmosphere. A home in paradise is without a doubt home sweet home.

Anna Maria Island is a lovely, laid-back barrier island just south of Tampa Bay, with a charm and tranquility that makes it feel like home immediately. Drive the causeway to the Island, watch the sun shining on the beautiful turquoise Gulf of Mexico and you can feel the stress from the day just melt away.

In years past, Champagne was saved for special occasions, because the wine—named after the region in France where the chardonnay,

pinot noir and pinot meunier grapes that make the wine are cultivated—was very expensive to produce.

Champagne was just the beginning of the spark-ling wine trend. Today, sparkling wines for every taste and budget give oenophiles the opportunity to clink glasses and toast even an ordinary day.

LuAnn Shapiro is an Advanced Certified Wine Professional (ACWP)—credentials she earned after an intensive, two-year program at the prestigious Culinary Institute of America. LuAnn finished the CIA program and worked in the Napa Valley wine industry before heading to Tampa Bay and eventually opening her Westchase wine store, Napa Flair, this summer.

Self-described as “crazy” for bubbly, LuAnn’s store features an extensive collection of international sparkling wines. “What’s incredible is that a single bottle of sparkling wine could have up to 100 pounds of pressure per square inch in the bottle,” LuAnn says.

So, where do those festive bubbles come from? According to LuAnn, the bubbles occur during the second fermentation process, when a small amount of yeast and the liquer de tirage—a combination of sugar and wine—is added to the cuvée or assemblage of still wine, and then bottled and capped.

LuAnn brings a taste of Napa flair to us through her recommendations for affordable international sparkling wines. Here, she navigates her extensive catalogue, highlighting the most notable sparkling vintages:

CALIFORNIA: Schramsberg Blanc de Blanc ($43) “is one of my all-time favorites” and Domaine Carnerous Sparkling Wine by Taittinger ($31), “gives people the chance to experience Taittinger prestige at California prices.”

AUSTRALIA: Syn Cuvée Blanc ($21), “is a great value.”

ASIA: Hou Hou Shu Sparkling Sake ($13 for a ½ split) is, “both sulfite free and gluten free.”

ITALY: Trevisiol Extra dry Prosecco ($18) and Castello del Poggio Muscato ($19), both “make wonderful aperitifs.”

SPAIN: Giro Ribot Cava ($15), “is made with Spanish grapes, not the grapes used in blanc de blanc or Champagne. This is a well-crafted wine using the finest French techniques.”

PORTUGAL: Casal Gracia Vihno Verde ($9) is a fruity Rose that’s “light enough to drink first thing in the morning.”

FRANCE: “Vineyards in French regions outside of Champagne are producing a great sparkling wine called Cremant,” like the Lucien Albrect Cremant D’Alsace ($21).

LuAnn says that even Champagne production has come full circle, allowing the masses to enjoy French bubbly on a budget. “Some of the smaller vineyards in Champagne are no longer selling their grapes to the marquee houses and instead, are making their own small-production Champagnes for a fraction of the price, called Grower’s Champagne.”

Whatever your sparkling preference, for its two-year anniversary, VERTICAL Tampa Bay offers a toast to you. À votre santé!

Taittinger. Moet & Chandon. Perrier-Jouet. These marquee brands represent the elegance of the quintessential celebratory libation—Champagne. Effervescent and light, a glass of bubbly sets a stylish tone day or night.

I only drink Champagne when I am happy, and when I am sad. Sometimes I drink it when I’m alone. When I have company, I consider it obligatory. I trifle with it if I am not hungry and drink it when I am. Otherwise I never touch it—unless I’m thirsty.”

Bubbly PairingsSparkling wines can be paired with so much more than caviar and strawberries. LuAnn Shapiro, owner of Napa Flair, likes to find ways to pair sparkling wine with everyday food. Here are her suggestions:

| Buttered Popcorn and Champagne

| Grilled Scallops or Shrimp Scampi pairs well with a Brut sparkling wine

| The mineral notes in a clambake are complemented by earthy Cava sparkling wines

| The orange essence in a Muscato works well with vanilla ice cream and candied oranges

| Prosecco brings out the lemon in a grilled chicken Caesar salad

| Sushi pairs swimmingly with dry Champagne

| Pork tenderloin pairs with sparking Rose

| Sparkling sake or an extra dry Champagne comple-ments spicy Thai food

| Pasta dishes with lemon pepper flavors or a light primavera pair beautifully with sparkling wine

The art of handcrafted cocktails is surging in popularity and classic drinks are getting fash-ionable makeovers. Standard mixes are being

replaced with fresh fruits, organic herbs and classic liqueurs. Tampa Bay has a hidden gem in South Tampa that show-cases cocktails and fashions of the Prohibition Era. This magnificent place is Ciro’s Speakeasy and Supper Club.

Nestled in the cozy location of the former Ceviche, Ciro’s is cleverly hidden in the ground floor of Bayshore Royal Condominiums on South Howard. There are no signs marking the location, which contributes to its intrigue. A small flight of stairs leads to a wooden door. Ring the doorbell and then a small peephole opens. A man’s face appears from the eyes up and asks for the password. Once granted access, it is like stepping into a bar from the 1920’s. Jazz fills the air and the staff is dressed to the nines.

The entire place is dark with light only beaming from the jellyfish tank, candles and dim red lighting. I noticed several couples at the bar sharing romantic conversations while sipping glamorous cocktails. As I sat down at the bar, I was warmly greeted and given a cocktail menu that appeared to be printed circa 1920. As I strained my eyes to read the list, the bartender kindly showed me the menu could be illuminated with the press of a button. Gazing at the menu, I was drawn to my first drink of the evening, which was the Tryst. Served in a martini glass that resembles a champagne glass from the 1950’s, this gorgeous cocktail consists of Elderflower liqueur, fresh muddled cucumber and Champagne. Prior to pouring, the glass is rinsed in absinthe, which accentuates the flavor of the cucumber. This drink is perfect for a warm day and the combination of herbs and floral, balanced with the Champagne, results in an aesthetically pleasing and refreshing cocktail.

Watching the bartenders is like watching performance artists in a silent film. Sound is not necessary. Their actions tell stories. Using classic methods and tools, each drink is handcrafted to perfection, garnishes are cut to order and the final product is not only a work of art but a delicious labor of love. I had the honor of tasting a few cocktails as well as watching others being made.

EL DIABLO: Sexy in color, this cocktail consists of Reposado Tequila, Crème de Cassis and Ginger Beer, which when combined is magical and gives the drink a nice kick with a bit of spice. Served in a tall, slender glass with a large ice cube rising up from the rim, this drink is a highlight on the menu. The single, solid ice cube not only gives the drink an impressive look, it serves a purpose. Large pieces of ice dilute slowly, thus preserving the quality and taste of the drink.

BRAMBLE: Refreshing and exquisite, the Bramble was the second cocktail I tried during my visit to Ciro’s. Made with Plymouth Gin, fresh muddled blackberries, fresh lemon juice, simple syrup and Crème de Mure, drinking this cocktail feels like an adventure.

CORN-FED PEACH SOUR: White whiskeys are the new black and this concoction is unlike any other in Tampa Bay. Made with white whiskey, white peach puree, honey and lemon juice, the Corn-Fed Peach Sour is Ciro’s specialty. White whiskey is essentially whiskey that has only undergone the first stage of the distilling process, thus creating a raw-corn flavor. Corn and peaches blend very well together and this drink reminds me of an organic farmer’s market. The honey and lemon give it the perfect balance and the drink is topped with blueberry foam.

RUSSIAN SPRING PUNCH: This stunning cocktail is vogue and the taste is intoxicating. Vodka, Crème de Cassis, lemon juice and Champagne are combined and served in a tall glass over crushed ice and garnished with fresh berries and a mint sprig. If cocktails were fashion accessories, this one would be a must-have.

I glanced at my watch and realized it was already 1am; I closed my tab and reluctantly headed to the door. My magical night had come to an end and it was back to reality. As the heavy door closed behind me, the sounds of 1920’s jazz began to fade and I felt like a child leaving Disneyland. For cocktail aficionados, Ciro’s is the happiest place in Tampa Bay.

’ was the night before August 6th

and all through the house, I gathered

supplies to pack in my pouch. The next

morning I woke with a super big smile

and jumped out of bed to skip town

for a while. Zoom zoom and away to Anna Maria I

go to see Working Women of Tampa Bay—some

new, some that I know.

As I soared over the Skyway I couldn’t help but

to think... this “Get VERTICAL Getaway” was a

good idea...I think.

Before the girls arrived, into their cottages I sneaked, to

deliver Stellar Society presents and PRP Wine to drink.

We arrived on the beach for the “Chill Out” event

where chaise lounges, fresh towels and flowers were

present. Jimmy Fastiggi, our concierge, pitched

umbrellas, made shade and poured lemonade. He

sprayed our feet with fresh water to help keep us cooled

off... while us girls agreed this was our kind of day off.

Jumping up from our plush Island Real Estate towels we sprinted from the sand to stroll for a while.

Pine Avenue proved a perfect place... to enjoy boutique

shopping and new friendships we’d make.

The next morning arrived with breakfast in mind

so off to Island Creperie to see what we’d find! The

Buckwheat Crepe Breakfast is a superb heavyweight

and the Big French Breakfast is “heaven on a plate.”

As we set off for home from Tradewinds Resort, some

in new Chevys and some in other sorts, we carried

sweet memories we’d always keep. The sensation was

truly very deep.

The friendship we shared was delightful to see and this

is what “Get VERTICAL” means to me.

Swingingonto the Scene

Take a moment and reflect on your childhood. Few things compare to a warm summer breeze when you were surrounded by laughter and enjoyed innocence without a care in the world. What can take you back to that time faster than hopping on a swing? There’s just something magical about kicking your feet back and reminiscing as you sway to and fro.

This very concept gave Hunter Payne and Reuben Pressman an imaginative idea. What would happen if they randomly placed a swing in an unexpected public space? As part

of an environmental design project at USF St. Petersburg, Hunter and a couple of classmates hung their first swing on campus. After seeing how quickly people who would have never talked to each other stopped to congregate and share a common experience, Reuben and Hunter hung another swing in North Straub Park. Sure enough, curi-ous onlookers began to play and crowd and talk around the swing.

“The community’s response to these small platforms for collectivity and engagement pushed us to make this more than a one-time thing,” says Hunter.

Inspired by charming reactions, Hunter and Reuben founded Swings Tampa Bay in 2011 as a spontaneous community building organization that installs handmade hand-painted swings in unexpected public spaces across the Tampa Bay area. Their joyful mission is to encourage a deeper level of social cohesion rooted in fun, sharing and fellowship.

“A swing is a powerfully simple icon,” explains Reuben. “It becomes much more than a playful pastime as it instantly sparks curiosity, refreshes our community’s perception of our environment and encourages imme-diate interaction with people we may have otherwise walked right past. Swings provide opportunities to share stories, ideas and a set of arms to push each other!”

Hunter and Reuben make the swings by hand in their own front yard. However, they insist the magic really hap-pens at their “Let’s Paint Swings” events where anyone and everyone in Tampa Bay is given the opportunity to hand paint whatever they want on their swing for free.

“They can either take them to hang around Tampa Bay themselves or leave it with us so we can hang it,” Reuben says.

When deciding where to hang their swings the duo vows they listen to their hearts.

“If a spot speaks out to us, consider that swing hung,” says Hunter.

Reuben and Hunterattribute the community itself for taking Swings to this level. In thier lasting words, “Spread love!”
