3.2 Periodic inspection / service
The documented periodic inspection has to be carried out by a person who is qualified to do so.Inspection intervals must be observed for ICE STAR CLAMPS according to use:• Annualservice(12-monthinterval):
Use of ICE STAR CLAMPS with various loads/weights within the load-bearing capacity range. Or application requiring < 65 % of load-bearing capacity (symmetrical load)
• Half-yearly service (6-month interval): Use of between 65 % and 100 % of load-bearing capacity.
• Quarterly service (3-month interval): Use between 65 % and 100 % of load-bearing capacity in varying operating conditions.
If anything conspicuous occurs during an inspection, the ICE STAR CLAMP must be repaired or taken out of operation immediately. The inspection interval is based on the most recent service.
3.3 RFID
Each ICE STAR CLAMP is fitted with an RUD ID Point®
(RFID chip) and can be clearly identified by means of an ID number. This can be captured using the RUD ID EASY-CHECK® (reading device) and transferred to the EYE-D.NET system, for example. The latter application assists you in managing and documenting your components.Further information can be found online or from your RUD contact.

5 Use of the ICE STAR CLAMPSNote the following before using ICE STAR CLAMPS:1. Calculate the correct load-bearing capacity and
sheet width for your lifting/transport operation. The model, load-bearing capacity and sheet thickness are marked on the ICE STAR CLAMPS.
WARNINGNever exceed the designated load-bearing capacity and only use sheets permitted for the specified rim width of the ICE STAR CLAMPS.Always observe the minimum load (10 % of the designated load-bearing capacity).
The sheet thickness may not exceed the rim width of the ICE STAR CLAMPS used (see Tables 6 to 10).
Only ever use one sheet per lifting/transport operation.
2. Check the ICE STAR CLAMPS as described in the Section 3.1 “Inspection prior to every use”.
3. When using ICE STAR CLAMP with a crane hook, always use a flexible connection (e.g. forerunner).

7. Make sure the ICE STAR CLAMP is locked.WARNINGICE STAR CLAMPS may only be used for lifting purposes when they are in the “locked closed position”.ICE STAR CLAMPS that are wrongly mounted, not closed or incorrectly used can result in physical injury and material damage in the event of a fall. Always check ICE STAR CLAMPS care-fully prior to use.
8. Move as far away as possible from the immedi-ate hazard zone. Do not leave suspended loads unattended.
9 Now start the lifting process.
6 Removal of the ICE STAR CLAMPSAfter using the ICE STAR CLAMPS, remove them as follows:1. Make sure: - The sheet has been deposited stably on the
ground. - There is no more tension/lifting force acting on
the sheet/component. - When the lever is placed on the bottom of the
sheet at the end of the 180° lifting operation, there must be sufficient space under the sheet to be able to shift the lever.
2. Opening the ICE STAR CLAMPS: Model LA/LPA: Press the push button and shift the locking lever into the “locked open position”. The tooth segment remains in the housing of the ICE STAR CLAMP.
Type L/LP: Shift the locking lever into the “locked open posi-tion”. The tooth segment remains in the housing of the ICE STAR CLAMPS.
3. Remove the ICE STAR CLAMPS from the sheet4. Inspect the ICE STAR CLAMPS: - If there is visible damage, the clamp must be taken out
of operation (see Section 3 “Inspection and check”). - If there is no visible damage, always keep the ICE STAR CLAMP in the “locked open position” so as to prevent damage to the gripping surfaces.
