Creating sustainable waterVeolia Water Solutions & Technologies is the designer and builder of an innovative water reuse scheme for Bendigo Mining, an Australian company developing one of Australia’s largest and highest-grade goldfields.

The scheme features a new seven megalitres per day water treatment plant to treat mine water for reuse in local irrigation.

Veolia Water also operates nine water treatment plants and three recycling plants in regional Victoria, serving a population of over 280,000.

It also supplies network maintenance services to Melbourne Water and Yarra Valley Water.

One source. Dynamic solutions Veolia Environmental Services provides a fully integrated facility management service to the manufacturing operations of General Motors (Holden) in Victoria.

This includes the on-site management, removal, disposal and processing/treatment of both solid and liquid wastes and recyclables during the motor vehicle manufacturing process.

Veolia Environmental Services also provides industrial cleaning services throughout the plants.

Veolia operates at multiple Holden sites including the engine manufacturing plant in Port Melbourne, parts distribution centre and vehicle testing ground.

Delivering custom-designed energy Veolia Energy (Dalkia) delivers mechanical services to Accor Hotels which includes 36 Accor owned or operated hotels featuring the Novotel, Mercure, Ibis, and F1 brands.

This national contract kickstarted in Victoria when Veolia Energy designed and delivered a A$2.85 million St Kilda Novotel Mechanical Services Refurbishment project. This was delivered on time and with no disruptions to the hotel’s daily business operations.

The Victorian business includes product design, selection and supply; project design and delivery; and service and maintenance. This allows clients to receive Veolia Energy’s custom-designed solutions.

Meeting Melbourne’s transport needsConnex Melbourne is Veolia Transport Australasia’s train franchise business.

It operates Melbourne’s metropolitan rail network and is actively addressing the challenge of providing a high quality service to a growing city demanding more rail travel.

Since starting, Connex has met many challenges – from merging diverse networks through to the increase in the city’s population and consequent demand for more rail travel.

° Clean Up Australia Day Supporting Australia’s

largest environmental event as a major sponsor since 1990. Hundreds of employees and their families participate at Victorian sites each year.

° Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre

Raising awareness and funding for cancer research through the Connex for Cancer Day Campaign. This donates one dollar from every ticket sold at a Connex ticket office to the Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre.

° Around the Bay in a Day Each year, Veolia employees

participate in Melbourne’s Around the Bay in a Day, a cycling event which attracts more than 15,000 riders and raises money for the Smith Family. In 2007, Veolia entered 58 riders and was one of the largest teams involved.
