PIT’s Venturi plungers use a constricted throat to determine fluid pressures. By changing the throat size we are able to tailor the fall rate of the plunger and make it a perfect fit for your well pressure and gas rise velocity. As the plunger is rising a pressure differential is created across the throat orifice, allowing an accelerated flow inside the tool. The upper chamber collects liquid from the liquid column above and from the tubing wall as it ascends. Because the upper chamber is at a lower pressure than the lower chamber the accelerated flow through the orifice creates hydrodynamic lift. A “FAST-FALLING” PLUNGER DEVOID OF ANY MOVING PARTS.PIT’s Venturi plungers use a constricted throat to determine fluid pressures.
