• During the meeting the Hon'ble Chief Minister has opined that, the

• Crop colonies will be helpful in increased income to farmers with
increased production and productivity as well as ensures supply of
vegetables to the consumers at reasonable rates throughout the year.
• Concept of crop colonies is identification of specific crops based on
soil type, season & climatic conditions and cultivation in colonies
mode.
• Identified farmers in the crop colony area will be encouraged for
staggered sowing which will avoid market glut, the farmers can also
get better prices for their vegetable produce and at the same time
consumers can get vegetables at affordable prices.

Ibrahimpatnam constituency of Rangareddy district in an area of 3562 acres
covering 2780 farmers in (38) villages of (3) Mandals viz. Ibrahimpatnam (12

were spent in Ibrahimpatnam crop colony.
• After implementation of crop colony in Ibrahimpatnam constituency, vegetable
production from 3562 acres (2780 farmers) is increased from 44,000 MT to
83,000 MT due the department interventions of Seedlings, Pandals, Mulching,
Micro Irrigation & Plastic Crates.
• Keeping the success of Ibrahimpatnam crop colony in view, it is proposed to
expand the crop colony approach to all districts in future.
• Accordingly, the Department of Horticulture has worked out the demand,
availability, gap / surplus in respect of fruits, vegetables and spices duly taking
the food consumption survey done by the PJTSAU in to consideration.
• Telangana State is deficit in production of Vegetables like Bhendi, Greenchilli,
Gourds, Beans, Capsicum, Potato, Colacasia, Yam, Leafy vegetables & Onion.
• To address the gap i.e. deficit in vegetable production, Department of
