Vassar College Athletic Logo Usage PolicyThis policy provides information and guidelines to the Vassar community regarding the use of Vassar’s athletic logos. The intention is to protect the integrity of the institution’s athletic logos, and to ensure such logos are used in an appropriate manner.

All athletic logos must always maintain approved colors, proportions and design integrity. No alterations may be made, nor shall design elements be placed inside any of the athletic logos.

Vassar College Primary Athletic LogoThe primary athletic logo, shown below, consists of the “Interlocking VC” and is for official Athletic Department use.

Vassar College Primary Athletic TypefaceThe Athletic “Vassar Brewers,” “Vassar,” and “Brewers” typefaces shown below are for official Athletic Department use only. The font is known as “Brewers”, and no other departments, organizations or clubs may use this logo without prior consent from the Vassar College Athletic Department and Athletic Communications Office.

Vassar College Second Athletic TypefaceThe secondary typeface, known as “Cooper Hewitt” and shown below. Cooper Hewitt is a Unicode sans serif typeface family, created for the Cooper Hewitt Smithsonian Design Museum - cooperhewitt.org - in 2014 as part of the museum’s new visual identity.

Vassar College TypefaceVassar College uses the following font and logo as its official logo and wordmark. This is no longer to be used on Athletic Department apparel, materials and uniforms. For more information on this wordmark, please contact Vassar College Office of Communications at 845-437-7404.

Restrictions On The Use Of Vassar College Athletic LogosThe Vassar College Athletic Department reserves the exclusive rights for endorsement of other organizations, companies,products and/or services. At no time may any other entity use the athletic logos in a way that suggests or implies theendorsement of other organizations, companies, products, services, political parties or views.• Vassar’s athletic logos may not be used in any way that discriminates or implies discrimination against anypersons or groups based on race, color, national origin, age, marital status, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, gender expression, disability, religion, height, weight, or veteran status in employment, educational programs and activities, and admissions.• Vassar departments, academics, clubs and student organizations may not assign rights to or otherwise grantpermission to any other entity for use of athletic trademarks for any purpose.• No one other than Vassar may claim copyright or logo rights or seek to register any design that usesVassar athletic logos.• It is impermissible to create a design that gives the impression of being a Vassar athletic logo.• It is impermissible to create a design that incorporates a Vassar athletic logo into, or make it a part of,another design.

Certain artwork or designs depicting or implying the use or endorsement of the following will notbe approved for use in conjunction with Vassar’s athletic logos. These include, but are not limited to:• Illegal drugs;• Tobacco products;• Racist, sexist, hateful, demeaning or degrading language or statements;• Profanity;• Political groups/views/statements;• Sexual acts;• Statements impugning other universities;• Designs that may be harmful to the mission or image of the institution;• Alcohol.

One-Time UseApproval to use a Vassar athletic logo for a one-time application only (for example, a t-shirt) does not constituteapproval to use the athletic logo again, or in connection with any other item, or to change the design in any way,without seeking additional approval.

Approved Primary & Secondary Athletic Logo ColorsThese are the official specifications for reproducing the athletic logo colors. When reproducing these colors,always visually match approved color swatches. Color Pantone* C M Y K** R G B** Hexidecimal

Specialty Color ApplicationsFor unique applications, the athletic logos may be foiled, embossed, etc., but only with prior approval from the Vassar College Athletic Communications Office.

Primary and Wordmark Usage With Secondary FontOnly those departments, teams, groups, etc., within the athletic department may replace “Vassar” OR “Brewers”with their name in the following two formats of the logo and Primary Wordmark.

Primary Athletic Logo and VC Logo Clear ZoneWhen applying the Primary Athletic logo, it is essential to leave a measured amount of space around the logo tomaintain optimum readability. Always maintain at least a minimum of space of 1X, where X is the height of theopening portion of the “C” in the logo, on all sides of the logo. Keep this area clear of other elements such astext, other artwork, rule lines and page edges. More space is always preferred.

Primary and Secondary Athletic Logo MisusesIt is essential that the athletic Primary and Secondary Athletic logos be presented accurately and consistentlyevery time they are used. All misuse examples are applicable to the VC logo and Vassar Brewers typeface. Please avoid these common violations:

DO NOT combine Primarylogos and Wordmarkwith any other VassarCollege logo, such as VC RISE logo.

DO NOT allow the Primary logo or typeface to become distorted due to improper scaling.

DO NOT violate the Primary logoswith text, graphic elements, imagery, page edges, etc.

DO NOT replace “Brewers”text with any non-depart-ment or group name in the Workmark.

DO NOT use “VC” in the Wordmark “Brewers” font alone.

DO NOT realign any elementsin the Primary logo or Wordmark.

DO NOT combine Primarylogos and Primary Word-mark.

DO NOT display the Primary logo or Wordmark on a background that provides inadequatecontrast or is overly busy.

DO NOT change the colors of thePrimary logo or Wordmark.
