Cryostor SeriesThe Cryostor Series is the latest innovation in high performance cryogenic liquid storagefor the laboratory with units available from 30 to 300 litres capacity.

Stainless steel construction provides the durability to safely withstand the harshestworking environments while offering lower evaporative losses when compared totraditional “liquid cylinders”.

Autofill OptionThe Autofill accessory option is particularly useful for the long-term storageof samples within vapour phase environments.

The system works by continuously monitoring the LN2 within the BioRackand topping-up the unit when natural evaporation causes the level to fall. Indoing this the system will not allow the LN2 level to fall below a safe set-point,vital for the long-term viability of the material being stored.

This method is less economical in terms of LN2 consumption but providesthe user with the ability to finely control the level within the unit over extendedperiods of up to 8 weeks between supply reservoir refills.

Temperature Logger Alarm UnitProviding continuous dependable monitoring of the temperature within therefrigerator, the CryoGuard data logger is the ideal choice for users who want torecord sample temperatures over long periods.

Goblet Storage For StrawsIn place of the racks for storing cryoboxes, six special racks canbe supplied. Each rack holds four 67mm diameter canisters.

Technical Data

The Biotrek 3 and 10 Dewars are for shipping samples in ultra cold conditions withoutthe dangers of releasing liquid nitrogen during transit.

Internally both Biotreks contain a special cryo-absorbant material which absorbs liquidnitrogen to ensure that although any samples held are not immersed in liquid nitrogenthey are close as possible to liquid nitrogen storage temperatures.

The cryo-absorbant will hold the liquid nitrogen within the vessel no matter whatorientation the Biotrek may be during shipping.

A wide range of Biological specimens may be held in the Biotrek 3 while the Biotrek 10can also accommodate blood stem cell bags because of the extra wide neck andinternal configuration.

The Biotrek 10 will hold up to 5 x 100 cellcryoboxes in a specially designed rack.

A Temperature Logger Alarm can be fittedto travel with the Biotrek 3 or 10 unit toprovide a continuous record of transittemperature.

The Biosystem 36, 55 and 80 models are designed to maximise economic operationwith the lowest possible consumption of liquid nitrogen. A liquid proof rotating internalcontainer allows liquid levels to be controlled safely within the annular space betweenthe drum and container wall generating near isothermal temperature mappingthroughout the storage space. The container is easily turned so that every part of thestorage system is accessible at the neck opening.

The Statebourne class leading microprocessor control System provides full control andsecurity backup with the highest available level of reliability and sensor accuracy.

Statebourne’s advanced fabrication techniques allied with traditional craftsmanship instainless steel and super-insulation expertise ensure that the Archive Series offers thebest combination of trouble-free sample security and economic operation together withexcellent isothermal properties. In vapour phase storage, temperatures throughout theArchive refrigerator typically vary less than 8°C.

The tested logic of the Statebourne Microprocessor has been adapted forincorporation into the Archive Series to combine the highest available level ofsample security with safe dependable operation. All electronic and mechanicalcomponents of the refrigerator are exhaustively tested during assembly andfinally in service conditions by our Engineers before shipment from our factory.

The processor and all electronic components operate from a 24 volt DC supply(transformer/rectifier supplied). All electronic circuitry and components complywith the requirements of the Low Voltage Directive. (97/23/EEC & EN61010-1).

BIOSYSTEM Archive 36 - This ‘small’ model is sized to fit through a typicallaboratory double door and has a vapour phase capacity of 37400 x 2mlampoules in cryoboxes. As with all Archive models the rotating central storage compartment is easily turned to the requiredposition with a removable hand wheel and a temporary resting platform for racks is provided near the neck opening to makesorting specimens quick and easy.

BIOSYSTEM Archive 55 - With a storage capacity for 2ml ampoules of 58000, this mid range model incorporates allstandard Archive Series features found also on the 36 and 80 models which include a strong stainless steel step for easieroperation. The typical consumption of liquid for this refrigerator standing alone is less than 9 litres per day.

BIOSYSTEM Archive 80 - As the largest practical bulk specimen storage model for liquid nitrogen refrigerators, this unitis no different for users to operate than other models. The full capacity for vapour phase storage of 2ml ampoules in 10 x10 cryoboxes is 79300 and is safely controlled by the microprocessor providing the lowest liquid nitrogen use and floorspace economy available per specimen stored.

Standard Wide NeckRefrigerators

Biostor traditional refrigerators provide a low cost alternative tothe Biosystem Series for users able to accept higher levels ofrefrigerator management responsibility and wherefull specimen storage history is not required.

The Biostor 12 and 24 are supplied with built inliquid nitrogen fill and level sensor tubes to allow theaddition of an ‘Auto-fill kit’ using a suitable Cryostoras a reservoir (see page 18). Level sensors can beset to control liquid levels giving either liquid orvapour phase storage and temperatures as low as -185°C can be achieved at warmest point of samplestorage.

Biostor 12 & 24 Models are mounted on strongcastor wheels and a roller base is available forBiostor 5.

Biostor Series

A Mini and Maxi range of stainless steel Open Dewars for laboratoryprocess, bench top and industrial freezing applications provides capacitiesfrom 0.5 litres to 80 litres. Of exceptionally strong stainless steelconstruction, these dewars are ideal for use as cold traps, for immersion orsimply for temporary liquid storage. All models are supplied with insulatinglids (Except 0.5 litre model) and either swivel or fixed carry handles. Rollerbases are available for larger models.

Both safety and practical aspects of any laboratory using cryogenic liquids require attention in the planning stages.However, even in an established laboratory, reviews of both safety and improvements may need to be considered from timeto time. LC 200 Level Controller Kit (Part Number 9701042)

Can be used with Biostor, Open Dewars and other applications such as cold traps. Thekit is supplied complete with control box, sensors, dual solenoid valves, all electricalconnections and pipes with flexible delivery hose. Designed to be used with Biostor 12 and24 models to convert to automatic operation when used with a Cryostor vessel as a reservoir,the LC 200 is supplied with a power source for mains operation.

Cryoguard with Datalogger(Part Number 9701321)

Can be used with Biostor, Biorack, Biotrek and Bio models. Battery operated, thisunit can be independently mounted on any of the Biostor, Biorack, Biotrek or BioSeries containers to provide a continuous watch on the refrigerator’s condition. Analarm will sound if pre-specified temperature limits are transgressed. Additionally, alogged record of temperature at pre-specified intervals is maintained which can bedownloaded to a PC. This unit is battery operated but can also be mains operatedwith a suitable power source.

These units can be used with Bio, Biorack and Biostor, battery or mainsoperated models.

Battery or mains operated these units are supplied with control box andadjustable probe fitted in a protective tube specially mounted in the neckplug of the vessel. When the level of liquid nitrogen falls more than 2 or3mm below the set position of the probe, both visual and audible alarmsare activated.

Autodialler UnitMains operated with auto charged battery back up (Part Number 9702160)Can be used with Low Level Alarm (Mains model), Cryoguard Datalogger(when mains powered) and all Biosystem models. The Autodialler unitconnects to an output port on any of the above models and receives a signalin the event of an ‘alarm’ condition. The Autodialler will then make atelephone connection to three numbers until an answer is received and apre-recorded message is played.
