Name

The Vandals tribe name comes from the Latin “Vandali”, that means someone who intentionally defaces or destroys the public or private properties.

The word “Vandal” is actually used to refer someone who commits a crime.

Location

The Vandals were originally from Central Europe, but they moved to North Africa by crossing the Gibraltar stretch in Hispania.

From North Africa they could loot Rome and coquer Sicily, Corsica, Sardinia and the Balearics.

Social Division

The highest class, was occupied by eclesiastics and monarchs.

The medium class, was occupied by artesans and merchants.

The lowest class, was occupied by farmers and highest class’s subordinates.

The Vandal religion was Arianism; a christian branch from Alexandria; the Arianism different from the other christian believes though that the trinity (God, Son, Spirit) were three differents deities.

The Vandal people had a physical appearance with the next carateristics: Sturdy or robust body, prominent beard and long hair mostly blonde.

They contributed to metalurgy by forging rounded and golden shields.

The Vandals contributed to romances languages and arabian language.

They influenced Sicilian,African, Corsican and Sardinian culture.
