The following report covers the activities implemented during the months of October,
November and December in the following areas.

1. GENERAL NOTES
One hundred twenty eight beneficiaries (adults and children) attended the Center during the period of
October to December. The details are presented in the table below:

The changes that took place during this quarter period:
9 new children were admitted and enrolled in the relevant junior, middle and senior
age groups and the food program.

During this quarter period, 10 children left Orran because of the following reasons:
there was an improvement of the social conditions in 3 of these families, the parents
found a job, 5 children moved to Russia with their families, 1 child moved to Chkalov
village, and 1 child stopped attending regularly.
During the reporting period, 100 children were enrolled in the Orran program and
were involved in the Orran food, education, social, cultural and psychological
programs.
6 children were embraced in individual sessions.
8 children attending Orran have various disabilities thus individual work was carried
out with them.
During this quarter, 28 elderly were in the Orran project.
One of the elder people left for abroad to join his children. Two of them because of the
deteoriation of the health conditions could not attend the center.
2. Academic assistance to children
2.1. Classes and handcraft workshops
2.1.1 Classes
Orran children have daily academic assistance provided by volunteers and teachers; they
attend acting workshops as well as participate in various events. The table below shows the number
of children involved in the Orran classes in November:

Parallel to computer classes Junior Development Center has been opened at Orran
where the beneficiary children receive more professional computer knowledge, conduct
online classes by Skype, after which they will undergo financial literacy courses and will start
printing activities. Boris Brook, a US Peace Corps volunteer is leading this center activities
where the young graduates of Vanadzor Technological Center are conducting lessons on
voluntary basis.

15 children of Orran middle and senior age groups, who are involved in the drama club, were
getting ready for the theatre festival which took place in Tbilisi in December. Actor, director
of theatre studio Elfik Zohrabyan, worked with them twice per week for several hours.
18 children from senior and middle age groups, who have participated in environmental
classes, are involved in Orran gardening group. Vardan Ayvazyan and Vahe Ghevondyan are
working with the children. Twice a week, the children go to the garden, water the trees and
clean the garden of weed.
The sewing workshop is also actively working. Currently 6 to 8 girls are involved in the
workshop from senior and middle age groups.
2.2 Volunteers
Volunteers help the children to do their homework assignments, as well as conduct individual and
group sessions with the children, and support in organizing various events:
Every Thursday, 15 students from UWC Dilijan International School conduct volunteer
work at Orran, they organize various games and events for children. The volunteer work is
headed by Tatev Ayvazyan.

3.Cultural Education
3.1. Events
A series of events was organized at Orran where guests were invited. The children themselves were
invited to educational and cultural events outside of Orran such as concerts, performances, local
festivals, and cultural centers. The description of the events is presented below:
Orran hosted the newly recruited students of UWC Dilijan . The students who had already
volunteered for one year at Orran accompanied their new class mates. The students presented
themselves and showed their countries on the map one by one. As usual, the volunteers
prepared interesting and exciting games for the children.
Since October 20, children from 12 other communities of the Lori region started to attend
Orran every Saturday. The children involved are from Margahovit, Lernapat, Karadzor,
Darpas, Bazum, Arjut, Gugark, Vahagni, Pambak, Ghursali and Aznvadzor communities. The
total number of children is 80. At the start, personal files were created for each of them where
personal data and preferences were recorded. Subsequently, the children were divided into
three groups based on their age and were directed to the workshops.

On October 28, the Orran Media Group students organized photo exhibition on the violation
of human rights particularly children rights within the frames of Active Youth is the
Guarantee for Secure Future Project. Junior and middle age group children of Orran
participated in the event. They were presented with their rights, and then they discussed
possible cases of violations and solutions where they should apply in case of violation of their
rights. Small books titled “For Children about Children’s Rights” were distributed among
them. After the discussions, the children participated in photo exhibition and selected the
winners. The winners were awarded with prizes.
The design and publishing of the small books were done by the students of the Orran
computer center students.
On November 5, an excursion in Vanadzor was organized for the children of rural
communities attending the Orran center. The aim of the excursion was to introduce the
children to the cultural life of Vanadzor.To make the excursion more effective, the children
were divided into 2 groups, the first group involved children from Bazum, Arjut, Gugark,
Vahagni, Pambak communities, the second group involved children from Lernapat,
Lermontovo, Ghursali, Margahovit, Karadzor, Darpas communities. Children involved in the
first group visited the Vanadzor Art Museum where they were introduced to types of art, and
learned about paintings, artists and histories. The second group of children visited the house-
museum of Stepan Zorian, got acquainted with the writer's life and work, as well as where and
how Zorian spent the last years of his life.

On November 10, the students of the UWC Dilijan made a recurrent visit to Orran. The
volunteers organized interesting games, and junior students of the drama club presented a
performance titled “A Drop of Honey”.
On November 12, a second day of excursion was organized for the community children. The
first group visited the Vanadzor Museum of Fine Arts, got acquainted with the museum's
history, activities, works. The second group visited the music school after Kzartumyan and
attended a concert of Our Lady's Choir of Gugarats Diocese dedicated to the 147 the
anniversary of Komitas. The third group was busy at Orran.

On November 15, 5 young journalists of the Orran Media Group: Samvel Avetisyan, Gor
Sargsyan, Araqsya Miskaryan, Monica Mehrabyan and Gohar Shakhbatyan, participated in
“Media Literacy” seminar held in Vanadzor Info Center by Media Initiatives Center. The
seminar consisted of three sessions:
watching and discussing videos on journalism
information on how to cooperate with Media. am,
media game.
The seminar was conducted by the chief editor of Media.am website of the Media Initiatives
Center Gegham Vardanyan, journalists Nune Hakhverdyan and Anna Barseghyan, as well as media
expert Vahram Martirosian.
On November 17, a seminar was held in the media group on portrait interviewing. 9 young
journalists: Samvel Avetisyan, Araksya Miskaryan, Gor Sargsyan, Anna Karamyan, Nune
Ghazakhetsyan, Aram Manukyan, Aida Zakarian, Ida Serobyan, Monika Mehrabyan participated

in the seminar. During the seminar, the meaning of the portrait interviewing was presented, how it
reveals the man and the skills for formulation of questions during the interview.
On November 17, seminars on financial literacy were conducted by the SOAR organization
volunteers Tatevik Muradyan from UK. 6 children of Orran senior age group participated in
the seminar: Araksya Miskaryan, Anna Karamyan, Samvel Avetyan, Aram Manukyan, Aida
Zakaryan and Gor Sargsyan.
Visit of UWC Dilijan students to Orran on November 17. The students organized interesting
games through which the children learned how to make sweets.

November 19, visit of rural community children to Orran . First the children worked in the
workshops, then had their meal after which the younger children of Orran drama group
presented “A Drop of Honey” .
Seminar on Professional Ethics of Journalism was held on November 21 for Orran Media
group. The seminar was attended by 6 children. The seminar consisted of 2 parts:
Protection of editorial and information source.
Violation of professional ethics.
Initially the meaning of the professional ethics term was explained to the young people. They
talked about the professional rules of journalism, the duties of a journalist, violation of
professional ethics and what rules should be followed in preparing media material.

On December 9, the Annual Christmas Market was organized at Orran where the handicrafts
of Orran children were presented. Other organizations also participated in the market such as
the Vanadzor Orphanage, Art Center, Full Life, Equal rights, equal opportunities, Crossing
Roads, Caritas, Junior Achievement organization and individuals. The exhibition was open
from 11 in the morning till 7 p.m as well as during several days after the opening. The
exhibition was followed by another one at the Congress Hotel organized by AIWA where
Orran presented the handicrafts of its beneficiaries.
On December 10, Orran nurse Armine Margaryan conducted seminar for children on
“Personal Hygiene” topic.
On December 14, an exhibition fair was organized in Dilijan International School where the
crafts of Orran children were presented. The exhibition was organized by the volunteers of
UWC .

Orran children received winter hats, gloves and sweets from Ani Hovsepyan living in
Moscow.
On December 21 to 22 Orran drama club students staged “The Newcomer” performance on
the stage of Tbilisi University within the frames of “Speaking of Myself” Project.
Visit of community children to Orran on December 24: Initially children worked in the
workshops, then had their meal, and received their sweets for Christmas.
On December 27, New Year celebration was organized for Orran children during which
they enjoyed a special meal, received presents and sweets brought for them by Santa. SOAR
and many other benefactors contributed to the Christmas party .

4. Social Service
During this quarter, Lusine Akmakchyan, the social worker, conducted individual work with 81
children, on topics related to education and communication. She also conducted individual sessions
with 56 parents, and as a result most of them have been directed to various institutions. When
needed Orran has helped with these insititutions. Individual sessions were held both with the parents
of the children who stopped to attend the center and with the beneficiary families who have been
newly enrolled. During the reporting period, she addressed 6 social cases, out of which 1 is still in the
process, and 5 had positive outcomes. She also made 16 home visits for new beneficiaries together
with the psychologists and pedagogues.
22 visits to other families were made together with Orran team in order to distribute the food funded
by Serzh Tankyan.
Orran distributed hygiene supplies to 84 children coming from rural communities. The supplies were
provided by the World Vision organization.
Orran provided clothing to 14 families living in the dormitories /474 pieces/.

5. Medical and Psychological Support
5.1 Medical
During this quarter Armenuhi Margaryan/ Orran Nurse, implemented the following activities: -
Preventive medical examination of the children.
- Individual explanatory work with children on personal hygiene
- Controlled the hygienic condition of the children’s hair and provided them with medicines
against lice if needed.
- Conducted a separate meeting with parents
- Contacted Vanadzor Medical Center and followed the course of treatment of children
receiving free treatment there
- Followed the results of the examinations of the admitted beneficiaries. - Controlled sanitary
hygienic conditions of the kitchen.
- Developed the menu for the beneficiaries of Orran.
- Conducted seminars for boys and girls aged 12 to 15 on hygiene and behavior.
- Separate conversation was held with the senior group girls on sexual development.
- A discussion was held on general hygiene and dental care with the newly enrolled children,
they were provided with toothbrushes.

5.2 Psychological
During this quarter, Vardan Ayvazyan/ Psychologist conducted individual and group activities with
students in the middle and senior age groups. Individual and group sessions were organized with the
parents, guided and consulted volunteers and staff members.
Individual cards of the children were filled.
He directly participated in the work conducted with the children during all the events.

Other
Every week a staff meeting is organized in Orran during which ongoing issues and
activities are discussed.
Once a month a meeting with parents is organized. Various issues such as children’s
attendance, Orran events, children’s participation as well as social and other issues which
are raised by the parents are discussed.
Once a month a meeting is organized with the volunteers. At the meeting, the participants
discuss the work of the volunteers, if needed consultation is provided, and the activities to
be conducted within the coming weeks are charted.
In November and December, Orran distributed 80 kg of food parcels to the 127 extremely
poor families of Vanadzor, Gyumri and in the remote villages of Lori region with the
financial support provided by Serj and Angela Tankian. /The detailed report has been
