  • Intrinsic Value

The term intrinsic is used in several phrases such as intrinsic value, intrinsic impacts, intrinsic benefits The term itself is accorded different meanings by different authors and seems to be of questionable use at this point in the discourse, especially given its association with the inconclusive debates over intrinsic and instrumental arguments for arts and culture It may be best to stop using the term. Several alternatives (e.g. inherent, immediate) have less connotative baggage and provide opportunities to etch clear definitions on blank slates. Understanding the value and impacts of cultural experiences: A literature review. WolfBrown consultants for Arts Council England, 2014

  • I hope we can have some productive interdisciplinary conversations. Think about ways in which theory of art can have practical implications.
