Valley Views was the first magazine ever published by, for and about the central valley and distributed extensively in the valley, bay and foothills. The first issue was published in March of 1980 (before the Apple Mac or desktop publishing was even on the radar). When we used the term “cut and paste” back then, we were cutting with an Exacto knife and pasting with hot wax. Publishing and technology have changed drastically since the early 80’s and Valley Views was published again, by the same founder, from 2003 through 2006, this time using more state-of-the-art systems. During that time, a website and a TV show were also launched and produced. When the bottom fell out of the central valley economy in 2006, Valley Views was put on the back shelf and the publisher, Stan Countz, began watching for signs of an economic recovery. When that recovery was not forthcoming, he investigated what could be done to stimulate the local economy of the central valley and decided to launch localfirst.biz, a web portal that features locally-owned and operated businesses in the 209 area code. In January of 2014, the original founder decided it was time to publish the first multimedia magazine in the central valley.
