VALIDATION TOOL FOR COMPARING FINAL MANUFACTURED PARTS TO ORIGINAL CAD MODELSTata Technologies developed i COMPARE IT, available for Dassault Systemes’ CATIA
V5, to identify variations between point inspection data from final parts and native
3D master models. i COMPARE IT is part of the i PRODUCTS family which also
includes i CHECK IT, i GET IT® and i SUPPORT IT.
i COMPARE IT is a valuable tool for suppliers, as they typically don’t use CATIA V5,
a 3D CAD tool used primarily by original equipment manufacturers (OEMs). OEMs
however mandate that their supply chains provide design data in CATIA format.
This requires suppliers to translate their CAD data into a neutral file format that is
readable by CATIA. The translation process is not perfect, and often results in small
changes to the digital design definition. i COMPARE IT gives suppliers a way to check
a translated design against the original. i COMPARE IT verifies that the coordinate
measuring machine (CMM) data matches the CATIA master model, meets OEM
reporting specifications with full confidence, and easily integrates into CATIA V5 to
allow rapid comparison of manufactured parts to the original.

• Import CMM points into CATIA V5
• Color points based on in-tolerance/out-of-tolerance
