• Forefront of SEN changes – developing SENDIASS• Established Local Offer website for Leicester• 408 Parents and Carers supported through PPS• 52 interagency Safeguarding Courses run• Workforce Development???
VALUES Service 2013-14
Highlights of the year:• 130 people with Learning Disability supported• 43,000 Hours of support provided• VAL supports approximately 10% of eligible
people with Learning Disability in the City• Support is 7 days per week including evenings
Healthwatch 2013-14
Highlights of the year:• VAL delivered Healthwatch in Leicestershire,
Leicester and Rutland.• Engaged with 5,000 local people on Health
and Social Care issues• Established branded website for each area• Increased Healthwatch membership
VAL Communicating 2013-14
Highlights of the year:• VAL manages 8 websites – 64,470 unique
visitors to the main valonline website.• 12 different E Briefings circulated to over
2,500 regular subscribers• 1800 followers on Twitter• Produces High Quality print and events
Support for Groups 2013-14
Highlights of the year:• £2,839,763 – income raised with local groups• 1,292 local groups supported by VAL• 819 people attended over 100 training
sessions
VAL Volunteering 2013-14
Highlights of the year:• Over 11,000 enquiries about volunteering• Nearly 2,000 live volunteering opportunities• Popular Volunteer Involvement Forum and
volunteer E News• Developing a volunteer programme for the
Rugby World Cup
Voice of the VCS 2013-14
New initiatives: • To help local VCS groups work with/for local
schools• New Economic Development Forum working with
LLEP• Social Prescribing Pilots with CCG’s• Monthly Policy E Briefings
386 groups attended 36 VAL organised events

A successful year • Spending up and Income slightly down • Overall surplus of £135,000
• Significant improvement on Balance sheet • Significant impact of pensions revaluation
• Net current assets up to £1.2 million
Current Financial Issues
• Pension Liability – improved but still needs managing
• VAL Building – Bank mortgage to be paid off by next AGM (other debt remains)
• We must be prudent and plan for staff redundancies this year
• Continuing financial uncertainty for VCS and VAL – standing still is not an option
