Features1. Reduction of Maintenance Labor and High ReliabilityThe vacuum circuit-breaker features the lowest arc volt-age and minimum arc energy as compared with gas circuit breaker, providing minimum wear of contact points, ex-tremely long service life, and low life cycle cost because of simplified maintenance.

2. Superb Interrupting Performance The insulation recovery characteristic is outstanding. The current interrupting performance is excellent against a short-line fault. Even during the intrusion of a high current due to multiple lightning surges, current is interrupted in the vacuum inter-rupter within the period of half a cycle and equipment is fully protected. Insulation coordination is carefully planned between the inside and outside of the breaking section and between line and ground.

Fig. 3 shows the illustration of the construction, The operating mechanism adopts a cam type spring clo-sure system, and the shape of the cam is designed so that the amount of surplus energy can be reduced to a minimum at time of closure, the cam output can always exceed the load with ample allowance in any position during closing operation, the closing characteristics are stable and impact caused by operation can be greatly reduced.

The possible operational duty is either O – 1 min – CO – 3 min – CO, or O – 0.3 sec – CO -3 min – CO, or CO – 15 sec – CO.The motor used to charge up the closing spring can be either AC type or DC type. The closing spring is imme-diately energized after the VCB is closed.

3. Construction (1) Pole UnitInside of the pole unit is filled with SF6 gas to prevent the condensa-tion of moisture.

(2) Operating MechanismSince the tripping spring is ener-gized by the closing spring during the closing sequence, accomplish-ment of rapid auto-reclosing duty is possible. As shown in Fig. 7, the operating mechanism has a very simple construction and reduce 28% operation energy comparing with former version. This construction assures long op-erational life and minimal chance for trouble.

(2) Operating MechanismSince the tripping spring is energized by the closing spring during the closing sequence, accomplishment of rapid auto-reclosing duty is possible. As shown in Fig. 11, the operat-ing mechanism has a very simple construction employing roller and needle bearings. This construction assures long operational life and minimal chance for trouble.
