Modernsquarerescueparachutedesignshaveproventimeandagaintooffersignificantlybetterpendulumstabilityandsinkrateperformancethantraditionalroundparachutes,whilstretainingthefastopeningtimesthatarecriticalforsafety.

CertifiedENandLTF to theEN12491andLTF91/09 standards, theAngelSQ is available in 4 sizeswithmaximumloadsfrom100kgsto220kgs.Thereare2bridleoptions:TheshortbridleversionforharnesseswithintegratedbridlesandtheYbridleversionforharnesseswithnobuiltinbridles.

TheAngelSQisavailablewith2bridleoptions:ShortbridleorYbridle.Pleasenote,AngelSQv2andProisonlyavailablewithetheshortbridleoption.

Theshortbridleoptionisforharnessesthatalreadyhavereservebridlesinplace.AttachtheparachutebridletotheharnessbridlesusingaMaillonRapide7mmscrewgatemaillonorsimilar.

The longYbridleoption is for harnesses thatdonothavebridlesalready installed.Theattachmentpointsshouldbeattachedtotheshoulderconnectionpointsusing2x6mmscrewgatestainlesssteelmaillons(oneforeachside)alongwithrubberbandsortapetosecurethebridlesneatly.

YoumustNOTattachalongYbridletoanyexistingharnessbridles.Ifyourharnessalreadyhasbridlesattachedtotheshoulderhangpoints,youMUSTusetheshortbridleoption.OnlyattachtheYbridletotheloopslocatedontopoftheshoulderstrapswhichhavebeenspecificallydesignedformountingtherescuesystem.

Maillonsmustbeclosedtightly-fingertightthen1/2aturnwithpliersissufficient.Donotovertighten.

Attachthereservehandletooneoftheloopsonthedeploymentbagusingasmallmaillonoralarksfootknot.Pleaserefertoyourharnessmanualtoensurethecorrectorientation.

TheAngelSQisnowreadytobeinstalledintothedeploymentsystemofyourharness.FordetailedinstructionsoffittingtheAngelintothedeploymentsystempleaseconsultyourharnessmanual.

IMPORTANT:You MUST NOT attach the long Y bridle to existing harness bridle(s), if this is the case, you must use the short bridle option.

Ifyouareintheunfortunatesituationofneedingtothrowyourreserve,dosowithconviction:

Look;Reach;Pull;Throw.

Lookatthehandle,grabitandpullouttheretainingpinswithsufficientforce.

Pullout thedeploymentbag.Youneedtoadaptthewayyoupullyourparachutedependingonthedesignofyourharness’sdeploymentsystem.e.g.underseatpositioningoftenrequiresanactiontotheoutsidesothattheparachuteextracts sideways from thepocket,pulling thehandleupwardswill not allow theparachute to release.Knowyourequipmentandadaptyourtechniqueaccordingly.

Throwtheparachuteawayfromyouashardasyoucanintoclearspace,nottowardsyourwing.ItisimportantatthisstagetoremembertoLETGOofthehandle.Aimtothrowwiththedirectionofairflowtoaidafastopeningandagainstthedirectionofrotation.

Ifafter throwingtheparachutedoesnotdeploy (possible in lowenergyemergenciese.g.parachutalstall),grabthereservebridleandgiveitastrongpull.Thiswillhelpencouragetheparachutetoopenfaster.

Astheparachutedeploys,thenextstageistoconcentrateondisablingtheparaglider.Thereareseveralwaystodothis–Blinestall;rearriserstall;gatheringthecanopybyworkinguptheAlinesuntilyouhavethematerialinyourhandsorusingthebrakestostallthewing.Thebesttechniquedependsentirelyonthesituation.Themostimportantthingtorememberistocompletelydisablethewingsothatitdoesnotactagainsttheparachuteandcauseadown-plane.Whichevermethodyouchoosedososymmetrically,youdonotwanttheparaglidertostartrotating,thiscouldcausetheparaglidertoflyintoandeffectivelydisabletheparachute.

Due to the position of the reserve bridle hang points onmost harness, deploying the reserve parachute tends toautomaticallyputyouintothePLFposition(legsdown),ifyouarenot,doeverythingyoucantogetyourselfintothispositionsoyoucanabsorbthelandingimpactwithyourlegs.

AlwaysuseaPLFwhenlandingunderemergencysituationsorunderarescueparachute.

Yourparachuteshouldberepacked every 6 months,preferablybyaqualifiedprofessionaltoensurebestoperationandtogiveyoupeaceofmind.Whenremovingtheparachutefromtheharnesstaketheopportunitytocompleteapracticedeployment.Checkthatyoucanreachyourhandleeasilyandthattheparachutecanexittheharnesssmoothly,freeofanyresistance,Certificationrequiresaneffortoflessthan7kgs.

Beforerepackingtheparachuteshouldhaveathoroughvisualcheckofthecloth,linesandbridles.Donotuseaparachutewithanysignofvisibledamage.Theparachutemustbecompletelydryandfreeofdirt,dustoranyothercontaminates.

Packing ProcedureCompletelyunfurltheparachute,ideallyitshouldbehungovernighttoreleasethefoldsandtoairthematerial.

Toeasethepackingprocessitisbesttoworkwithanassistantandhavethefollowingpiecesofequipment:Weightssuchassandbags;Linespacers;Carabiners;Spareelasticbands.

Laytheparachuteonapackingtableorontheground.Makesurethesurfaceiscleananddry.

(Optional).Usingasuitable line, route it throughthepacking loopsfound2/3rdsofthewayupthepanels.

Securethepackinglinetosomethingrigid,attheotherendsecurethebridletosomethingrigidpullingtensionthroughtheparachutecloth and lines. The ‘apex’ should now be pulled through thecentreoftheparachutesothattheApexlinesaretensioned

Place the deployment bag under the skirt and fold theparachuteinanaccordionfashiontothesizeandshapeofthedeploymentbag.

Beforeclosingthepod,werecommendtoturntheparachuteoversothattheskirtisuppermostandclosesttothecloverleaves. Close the deployment bag around the parachute,neatentheedgestoensurethattheparachuteiscontainedcompletelywithin.Usetheremainingfreelinetosecurethemainloopofthedeploymentbag.

IMPORTANT: Before closing the pod, make sure the packing line has been completely removed!

If you used a packing line, now completely remove it from the loops. Failure to do so will most certainly result in a deployment malfunction.

YourAngelSQisrelativelymaintenance-free,howeverthereareseveralpracticesthatneedtobeadheredto:

•KeepyourparachutefreefromexposuretoUV,moisture,dirt,dust,chemicalsoranyothercontaminates.

•Alwaysstoreallofyourflyingequipmentinacooldryroomandprotectitfromdirectheatsuchasradiatorsorsunlight.

•Moisture,heatandhumidityaretheworstelementsfordamagingyourparachute.

•YourAngelSQshouldbere-packed,preferablybyaqualifiedpackerevery6months.Themoreoftenthereserveisrepackedthebetterthechancesofitopeningquickly.

•Line lengthsshouldbecheckedannuallybyaqualifiedchecker,orafteranytime theparachutehasbeenexposedtoexcessivemoistureorhasbecomewetafterawaterlanding.

• Ifyoulandinsaltwater,youmustimmediatelyrinsetheparachuteandlinesthoroughlywithfreshwaterbeforeit isallowedtodry. It isofvital importancetoremoveall tracesofsaltbeforedryingotherwisepermanentdamagemayoccur.Itmaytakeseveralrinsestocompletelyremovealltracesofsalt.Ifthereareanyvisiblesignsofdamagetotheclothorevidenceofsaltcrystals,theparachuteshouldbedeemedun-airworthyandwithdrawnfromservice.

•Completelyairdryyourparachuteoutofsunlightorothersourcesofdirectheat.Failuretodosocanresultinunevendryingofclothandlines.Yourparachutemustbeabsolutelydrybeforerepacking.

•TheParachuteshouldbedecommissionedafter10years,evenifithasneverbeenthrown.

•The Angel SQ should be disposed of in an environmentally friendlymanner. Do not disposewith normalhouseholdwaste.

WARNING: After a salt water landing, if there are any visible signs of damage to the cloth or evidence of salt crystals, the parachute should be deemed un-airworthy and withdrawn from service.

WARNING: The Parachute should be decommissioned after 10 years from the date of purchase even if it has never been thrown.
