974 “Dwelling In Bezdah Land”

Far away the noise of strife upon my ear is falling,Then I know the sins of earth beset on ev’ry hand;Doubt and fear and the things of earth in vain to me are calling;None of these shall move me from Beulah Land.

ChorusI’m living on the mountain, underneath a cloudless sky,I’m drinking at the fountain that never shall run dry;0 yes! I’m feasting on the mannafrom a bountiful supply,For I am dwelling in Beulah Land.

Far below the storm of doubt upon the world is beating,Sons of men in battle long the enemy withstand;Safe am I within the castle of God’s word retreating;Nothing then can reach me, tis Beulah Land.

Let the stormy breezes blow, their cry cannot alarm me;I am safely sheltered here, protected by God’s hand; Here the sun is always shining, here there’s naught can harm me;I am safe forever in Beulah Land.

Viewing here the works of God, I sink in contemplation;Hearing now his blessed voice, I see the way he planned;Dwelling in the Spirit, here I learn of full salvation;Gladly will I tarry in Beulah Land.

Song 306/328 “Nothing But The blood of Jesus”

What can wash away my sin?Nothing but the blood of Jesus. What can keep me always clean?Nothing but the blood of Jesus.

Chorus

o precious is the flowThat makes me white as snow!No other fount I know,Nothing but the blood of Jesus.

For my cleansing this I see,Nothing but the blood of Jesus. For my pardon this my plea,Nothing but the blood of Jesus.

Nothing can for sin atone,Nothing but the blood of Jesus.Naught of good that I have done,Nothing but the blood of Jesus.

This is all my hope and peace.Nothing but the blood of Jesus. This is all my righteousness,Nothing but the blood of Jesus.

Robert Lowry

Men’s Songsters “More About Jesus”

More about Jesus would I know,More of His grace to others show;More of His saving fullness see,More of His love who died for me.

Refrain:

More, more about Jesus,More, more about Jesus;More ofHis savingfullness see,More ofHis love who diedfor me.

More about Jesus let me learn,More of His holy will discern;Spirit of God, my teacher be,Showing the things of Christ to me.

More about Jesus, in His Word,Holding communion with my Lord;Hearing His voice in every line,Making each faithful saying mine.

More about Jesus on His throne,Riches in glory all His own;More of His kingdom’s sure increase;More of His coming, Prince of Peace.

Eliza E. Hewitt

Song 335/833 “This Is What The Lord Has Done”

I want to tell what God has done.Through Christ. His well-beloved Son,How my poor heart he sought and won;Can you wonder that I want to tell it?I want to tell what God can do.For sinners lost like me and you,Of sins washed white and garments new;Can you wonder that I want to tell it?

Chorus

I want to tell you what the Lord has done,What the Lord has done for me;He lifted me from the miry clay;o what a happy day!I want to tell you what the Lord can do,What the Lord can do for you:He can take your life as he did mine,And make it anew.

I want to tell of saving grace,Of God’s strong arm, his warm embrace,Of blood that can all sins erase; Can you wonder that I want to tell it?I want to tell to sinners lostThat Christ has paid sin’s fearful cost,And saves unto the uttermost; Can you wonder that I want to tell it?

What God has done, he still can do;His power can fashion lives anew,And all who trust him find him true; Can you wonder that I want to tell it?I want to tell of that glad dayFor which we watch, for which we pray,It must be near, not far away; Can you wonder that I want to tell it?

Sidney Edward Cox

Closing Song 587/48] “Be Glad In The Lord”

Be glad in the Lord and rejoice,All ye that are upright in heart; And ye that have made him your choice,Bid sadness and sorrow depart.

Chorus

Rejoice, rejoice! Be glad in the Lord andrejoice!

Though darkness surround you by day,Your sky by the night be o’ercast,Let nothing your spirit dismay,But trust till the danger is past.

Be glad in the Lord and rejoice,His praises proclaiming in song;Acclaim him with trumpet and voice,The loud hallelujahs prolong.

“REACH TEACH RELEASE”

I. Reach - Men For God

Mark 1:17 (NLT)

“Jesus called out to them,Come, follow Me,and I will show you how to fish for people!”

Mark 1:17 (MSG)

“Jesus said to them, ‘Come with me. I’ll make a new kind of fisherman out of you. I’ll show you how to

catch men and women instead of perch and bass.”

Mark 1:17 (KJV)

“And Jesus said unto them, ‘Come ye after me, and I will make you to become fishers of men.”

You and I need to be about calling people unto God. We need to become fishers of men. We need to reach menfor God in the communities that He has placed us.

Men, you are not sitting in this place of worship today by chance. God has orchestrated this moment from thebeginning of time. He has a purpose for you being here and hearing this very sermon.

I believe that today, God is going to do something within your own spirit and life that will rock our communityfor the Kingdom of God.

As a result, men all across our city are going to wake up to the same call that Christ gave when He walked uponthis earth.

“Come, follow me and I will show you how to be fishers of men!”

I do not have to tell you that, as a Corps. we need to reach outside our doors and start relationships with menwho are lost, in the hopes of bringing them into a right relationship with Christ the Messiah and into fellowshipwithin the ranks of our beloved Army.

We are an Army of God called to a battle that ultimately Christ has already won by His death upon the cross. Assoldiers or men of this Corps, we need to suit up and put feet on our prayers and thoughts and do as Jesus saidin...

Luke 14:23 (NLT)

“So his master said, ‘Go out into the country lanes and behind the hedges and urge anyone you find tocome, so that the house will be full.”

Luke 14:23 (MSG)

“The master said, ‘Then go to the country roads. Whoever you find, drag them in. I want my housefull!’”

God wants and needs you and Ito be about reaching others for His Kingdom. He wants His house to be full! You and I who know what He has done for us and what He has saved us from, so we need to be out in thestreets of our communities, in the coffee shops, sports arenas, and whatever venue we find men, and let themknow that Jesus really is who He says He is and that He wants a relationship with them.Men, if you call the Army your place of worship, your church home, then let’s be men who are about reachingout of our comfort zone by any means necessary to bring or compel lost men into the house of God.

Matthew 4:18-20

“Now as Jesus was walking by brothers, Simon who was called Peter, and Andrew his brother, casting anet into the sea; for they were fishermen. 19 And He said to them, “Follow Me, and I will make youfishers of men.” 20 Immediately they left their nets and followed Him.”...

It really is that simple — Jesus went out seeking men to help Him advance His mission. When was the last timeyou even asked someone to follow you in order to follow Christ? When was the last time you invited anotherman to join you at the Corps so that he might hear the gospel being preached?

We can do this. We just need to do it and stop talking about it and allow God to use us to Reach Men for Himand then to...

II. Teach - Men About Christ

Deuteronomy 11:18-20 (VOICE)

“So let what I’m saying sink deeply into your hearts and souls. Do whatever it takes to remember whatI’m telling you: tie a reminder on your hand or put a reminder on your forehead where you’ll see it allthe time, and on the doorpost where you cross the threshold or on the city gate.

Teach these things to your children. Talk about them when you’re sitting together in your home andwhen you’re walking together down the road. Make them the last thing you talk about before you go tobed and the first thing you talk about the next morning.”

You men who are fathers, its what we should be about. We need to tell our children, every opportunity we get, about the Word of God, from Genesis to Revelation, and how this wonderful Word became alive and dweltamong us in the form of Jesus Christ!

Matthew 28:18-20

“Then Jesus came to them and said, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me.Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Sonand of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I amwith you always, to the very end of the age.”

Douglas Twitchell said...

“One ofthe perks ofliving next to my parents is that when dad gets out his snow blower to clear their driveway,he also brings it over our way and clears our yard as well. We had ourfirst big snowstorm over the weekend, and we knew that Toby (who was too young to remember anything about winter last year) would be veryinterested to see the snow blowerfor the first time.

Sure enough, when we heard the snow blower coining our way, we directed Toby to the window, and he clungto the windowsill in excitement as he saw his grandfather on his little tractor, and watched afountain ofsnowblow into the sky.

Bitt Toby doesn’t have a very long attention span, and as soon as dadfinished one swath and disappearedfromview, Toby started to walk awayfrom the window. “To by, “I said, “he’s coming back!”And then I thought - isn’tthat how we are?”

Men, at Christmas we celebrate the coming of Jesus as a little babe wrapped in swaddling clothes. On GoodFriday we celebrate His death upon an old rugged cross, all for the purpose of setting us free from the bondageof sin. At Easter/Resurrection Sunday we celebrate the fact that He conquered death and that He is ALIVE! OnPentecost Sunday we celebrate the fact that Christ left us to return to Heaven to prepare a place for us, andPraise God, every day as Christians we celebrate the fact that He is coming back. The question for us is: are westill anticipating His coming back or have we left the windowsill and started focusing on something else?

Men of God, you and I need to teach this and so much more to the men in our community as we live beforethem an example that they can follow.

Over and over again we see God telling us to teach others about Him, just like He told us in Deuteronomy toteach our children and to teach them constantly about the things of God. It’s our job, our responsibility to go andmake disciples! It’s what we need to do for the men who God brings around us — let’s Teach Them AboutChrist. Amen!

Ezra 7:25

“And you, Ezra, in accordance with the wisdom of your God, which you possess, appoint magistrates andjudges to administer justice to all the people of Trans-Euphrates--all who know the laws of your God.And you are to teach any who do not know them.”

Colossians 1:27-28

• . .27 “to whom God willed to make known what is the riches of the glory of this mystery among theGentiles, which is Christ in you, the hope of glory. 28 We proclaim Him, admonishing every man andteaching every man with all wisdom, so that we may present every man complete in Christ.”

Colossians 3:16

“Let the message of Christ dwell among you richly as you teach and admonish one another with allwisdom through psalms, hymns, and songs from the Spirit, singing to God with gratitude in your hearts.”

We have men living in our communities that do not know a thing about the ways of God. Ezra tells us it is ourjob to teach them, to let them know what this book says about the very God who created them from the dust ofthe earth and breathed into them the breath of life.

Colossians 1:27 tells us that this mystery is Christ in you and me. He’s the hope of Glory and you and I need tobe teaching this to all men so that they may be complete in Christ.

Colossians 3:16 from the Message says:

“Let the Word of Christ—the Message—have the run of the house. Give it plenty of room in your lives.Instruct and direct one another using good common sense. And sing, sing your hearts out to God! Letevery detail in your lives—words, actions, whatever—be done in the name of the Master, Jesus, thankingGod the Father every step of the way.”

If the message of Christ dwells within you and me richly, then we will teach men about Christ and grow Hischurch in the way that is pleasing to Him. It will simply be our desire to do so because His Word is deep withinus.

We not only need to Reach Men For God and Teach Them About Christ, but once the reaching and teachingis done - we need to:

III. Release - Men For Service

Mark 10:44-45 (ESV)

“. . . and whoever would be first among you must be slave of all. For, even the Son of Man came not to beserved but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many.”

We who claim the blood of Jesus have been released to do the same. Not be served, but to serve! I believe weshould be about serving the least, the last and the lost. Amen!

Matthew 25:35-40 (ESY)

I was hungry and you gave me food, I was thirsty and you gave me drink, I was a stranger and you

welcomed me, 361 was naked and you clothed me, I was sick and youvisited me, I was in prison and you

came to me.’ the righteous will answer him, saying, ‘Lord, when did we see you hungry and feed

you, or thirsty and give you drink?38And when did we see you a stranger and welcome you, or naked and

clothe you? when did we see you sick or in prison and visit you?’ 40 the King will answer

them,’Truly, I say to you, as you did it to one of the least of these my brothers,1you did it to me.’

41 “Then he will say to those on his left, ‘Depart from me, you cursed, into the eternal fire prepared

for the devil and his angels. 42 I was hungry and you gave me no food, I was thirsty and you gave me

no drink, was a stranger and you did not welcome me, naked and you did not clothe me, sick and in

prison and you did not visit me.’ they also will answer, saying, ‘Lord, when did we see you hungry

or thirsty or a stranger or naked or sick or in prison, and did not minister to you?’ he will answer

them, saying, ‘Truly, I say to you, as you did not do it to one of the least of these, you did not do it to me.’

I believe this is mission, of anyone who professes Christ as Lord and Savior. We need to be about helping thosewho are less fortunate.

As an Army, we load our trucks and take off in preparation for a hurricane and God meets us there. He hasalready made the rough spots smooth and the crooked path straight.

We move into neighbourhoods infested with drug dealers, gangs, and prostitution, where the Holy Spirit hasalready gone before. And, in a short while the neighbourhood is changing because we have become a witnessand served the least, last, and the lost in the saving power of God the Holy Spirit.

Men of God, we need to be about the Father’s business and go and do what is needed in our communities forthe Kingdom of God.

Geoff Moore in one of his song’s, sings:

“In darkest England 1865,A dismal slum ofpoverty.A band ofbelievers rescuedfrom the night, played songs ofhope and offered light.

Ifa man is hungry,Give him food to eat.Ifa stranger’s thirsty,Give him drink.Ifa woman’s battered, fa child’s abandoned, bring them in,

Give them what they need.”

It’s who we are and should be what we are about - Released For Service.

Illustration:

“During the American Revolution a man in civilian clothes rode past a group ofsoldiers repairing a smalldefensive barrier. Their leader was shouting instructions, but making no attempt to help them. Asked why by therider, he retorted with great dignity, “Sir, Jam a corporal!” The stranger apologized, dismounted, andproceeded to help the exhausted soldiers. The job done, he turned to the corporal and said, “Mr. corporal, nexttime you have ajob like this and not have enough men to do it, go to your commander-in-chief and I will comeand help you again. “It was none other than George Washington.”

It means being available to help when we see the need to do so.

John 12:25-26 (NIV)

“The man who loves his life will lose it, while the man who hates his life in this world will keep it foreternal life. Whoever serves me must follow me; and where I am, my servant also will be. My Father willhonor the one who serves me.”

John 13:1-17 — Talks about Jesus stooping down before His disciples and washing their feet. Now that’sservice above and beyond the call of duty just like George Washington did for his men, Jesus did for us — thequestion for you and I is — Are we willing to do the same?

John 13:12-17 (NIV)

“When He [Jesus] had finished washing their feet, He put on his clothes and returned to his place. “Doyou understand what I have done for you?” He asked them. “You call me ‘Teacher’ and ‘Lord’ andrightly so, for that is what I am. Now that I, your Lord and Teacher, have washed your feet, you alsoshould wash one another’s feet. I have set you an example that you should do as I have done for you.I tell you the truth, no servant is greater than his master, nor is a messenger greater than the one whosent him. Now that you know these things, you will be blessed if you do them.”

Let’s be the Corps who Release Men For Service in all the areas others will not go. If you and I do our jobright — if we Reach Men For God and Teach Them About Christ we will be able to Release Them In FullService To Our Lord And Master.

Where are you this morning in your walk with the Lord? We need men who will take up this mantle ofReaching Men For God, Teaching Them About Christ, and you know we do that more by simply livingChrist out loud and in front of all those we come in contact with, by being examples.

We need to hurt for the least, last and the lost just like Christ does. His desires should be our desires, His wantsshould be our wants, His passion should be our passion. If it breaks God’s heart it should break our hearts. Menof this Corps, God is ready and willing to Release Us For Greater Service — Let’s take Him up on thischallenge and be the men He died to set free!

Let’s Pray!
