Jagranites Achieve Greatness by Using Academics, Responsibility &Self- control. VOL : 5 ISSUE 1 APRIL, 20I3 JUNE, 20I3 CCE has become a buzz word in schools these days. Students, teachers and even the parents are busy making the best of it for the benefit of the child. What benefit we are talking about? Everyone is focused on getting that perfect “Ten” the so called CGPA. It is an irony that so much importance has been given to assessment or the evaluation of the child’s performance. I am more than convinced that the CBSE has never thought of making the Education revolve around the system of CCE, the basic emphasis has always been on the process of Learning by the child. The task before the educators is to make “Learning” a joyful and continuous process for the child. It is not impossible but certainly a challenging work for the teachers, parents and school. In the 21 st century when there is so much of Scientific and Technological advancement, the children are much more informed in any way. They also have access to information about any subject or topic from different sources. The traditional role of the teacher to provide some information or explain a concept of Science or Mathematics in simpler way, has to undergo a change. A creative teacher engages, evolves, and empowers herself and those whom she teaches. In a time when engaging a student is a huge challenge, creativity calls on cognitive and non-cognitive skills, curiosity, intuition, and doggedness. Creative solutions can be created or discovered, in a flash or over a period of decades. I am not talking of that Creativity with capital C instead of that, I am referring to everyday Creativity. The former extends to culture-changing ideas, creations or techniques of doing something like creating more efficient software, inventing things or processes. Everyday creativity is to be found or can be taught to everyone who imagines, thinks and acts! It is creativity of the kind needed to make a lasting impact in the classrooms. A creative teacher can be followed, emulated, loved and even revered! Creativity is recognizable in a teacher who demonstrates originality and imagination. She must be a risk-taker, and have willingness to admit she is wrong. Ability to explain ideas in detail, to be flexible, to elaborate ideas and change them, if need be, or enlarge and blend them with other’s ideas, openness to multiple solutions are character traits of the creative teacher. CCE has become a buzz word in schools these days. Students, teachers and even the parents are busy making

the best of it for the benefit of the child. What benefit we are talking about? Everyone is focused on getting that

perfect “Ten” the so called CGPA. It is an irony that so much importance has been given to assessment or the

evaluation of the child’s performance. I am more than convinced that the CBSE has never thought of making the

Education revolve around the system of CCE, the basic emphasis has always been on the process of Learning by

the child.

The task before the educators is to make “Learning” a joyful and continuous process for the child. It is not impossible but certainly a challenging work for the teachers, parents and school. In the 21st century when there is so much of Scientific and Technological advancement, the children are much more informed in any way. Daniel Pink’s prophetic words come to my mind, ”Right brainers will rule the future”. Creativity is the key to teaching and learning.

VISIT TO MUSEUM OF ART Students of class VII A and VII B visited ‘Kiran

Nadar Museum of Art’ situated in Sec 126

NOIDA. It is the first Private Museum of Art,

exhibiting modern and contemporary works by

M.F. Hussain, S.H. Rajan, Tyeb Mehta,

Rameshwar Broota, etc. At the entrance of the

museum is the photo frieze showing groups of

people, daily wage construction workers

waiting to be hired. Various other posters and

photographs centered on the figure of ‘worker’

and ‘dignity of labour’. The slide show of

Industrial Photographs taken in early 1950’s in

Calcutta, Jamshedpur, Durgapur showed

workers engaged in national reconstruction.

Photographs depicting women’s movement

show cased marginal worlds of women,

mendicants and forgotten forms of labour.

Other art pieces included shapes cut out of the

cardboard packaging of alcoholic beverages

and Rimzon’s sculptural installation of Jain

Tirthankar, paying obeisance to the tools

around him. It was an enriching experience for

the students.

MRS MEENA SHARMA

A VISIT TO TERI GRAM On 4th May 2013, 37 students of class X, were

taken for an Environment Awareness Visit to

Teri Gram, Gurgaon. It is a solar plant situated

in Gual Pahari, 25 kms away from the heat of

Delhi. The Energy and Resource Institute (TERI)

is a complete safe sustainable complex using

natural sources. Twelve years ago, the land

was barren, unlevelled and the top soil was

badly eroded. There was a major

transformation. It is now full of greenery. First

of all we assembled at RETREAT (Resource

Efficient TERI Retreat for Environmental

Awareness and Training) where modern and

novel methods are used to recycle and store

rain water as well as waste water for irrigation,

then the students were shown the Biomass

Gasification Unit that provides electricity by

burning crop residue to form Producer gas.

This gas is used to run a modified diesel

generator. Next we were taken to one of the

rooms meant for the delegates. Surprisingly

that room was cold as compared to the

ordinary one, though it was without AC or

cooler. The reason being the dynamic air

current used that provides a comfortable

environment and cool temperature in the

room via tunnels that circulate cool air in the

rooms and hot air blows out of the other

tunnel. The last visit was to the Micro

Propagation Technology Park (MTP) where

modern plantation using tissue was done.

There were numerous plants saplings of

various breeds and varieties. The students

enjoyed the visit as it was very informative.

WORKSHOP ON MICRO TEACHING A workshop on microteaching was organized in

the school on 23rd & 24th May 2013 by the

teachers of Amity Institute for Education

namely Mrs. Avantika and Mrs. Anusuya.

During the session teachers were divided into

two major groups comprising of 10 teachers in

each group Professor Avantika & Anusuya

discussed the role of a teacher in this ever

changing education sphere. They tried to

suggest and incorporate the teaching

methodologies by which teachers can enhance

and upgrade themselves. As microteaching is a

kind of teaching-learning process in which

small content has to be delivered to small

number of students, teachers need to develop

certain skills in order to inculcate it in their

teaching practice. Teachers learned that

proper introduction of content, preliminary

attention seeking quality, skill of probing

questions and the skill of explanation,

refocusing, stimulation, black-board writing

along with proper eye-contact, reinforcement

and voice modulation are essential tools.

Teachers were given valuable inputs about

planning and forming of lesson in accordance

to requirement of modern scenario of

education like various activities, presentation,

tasks, assignment, innovation and information

on net. Teachers learned the skill of drawing

various special abilities of students within the

confined limit of class room. In the next round

teachers were divided into four groups in

which they actually practised what they

learned. Teachers were allowed a time period

within which they planned their lesson and

then implemented it. They shared their

experiences in class and tried to come up with

some appropriate and innovative solutions.

The workshop was concluded with a note that

teaching-learning is a harmonious relationship

between teacher, student and subject.

Teachers will strengthen this relationship by

inculcating their values as a human as well as a

reformer. As teaching is a lifelong process staff

of JPS Noida will continue to regenerate,

regroup and reflect.

THE IMPORTANCE OF HAVING DREAMS

There is no person alive that isn’t filled with dreams, goals and ideals. These things are a part of life and human nature. We all have the inbred desire for a good life. Dreams are vital to the life of every person. Without dreams, there is nothing to plan or look forward to; therefore, no reason to live. The definition of a dream is ‘hope’; an inspiration; an aim. Every human being dreams, the dreams differ greatly from person to person, some being small while others unrealistically large. Whatever the case is, it gives us something to look forward to, for example dreaming about becoming a rich executive helps us to focus on doing well at school to achieve this goal, so without these dreams our lives would be empty and pointless. Dreams are what make us what we are. Without dreams a person has no motivation. There would be no point in going to school or getting a job, since no one would dream of having a career or family. Dreams are what motivates us and keeps us going through the hard times. We dream of something better then we presently have and it is a dream like having a successful job and a family that motivate us to succeed in achieving our goals. "All men who have achieved great things have been great dreamers." Said Orison SwettMarden. Any person that has achieved something great had a dream first. A famous and obvious example is Martin Luther King who said, “I have a dream!” It was that dream that changed the way people thought and made them stop and think. If he did not dream he never would have stood up for what he believed in and never aimed to change things. Dreams change as we get older and some are less important than others, but however trivial or small the dreams are, they are still

important since it brings some sense into our lives, giving it some sort of purpose. Without these dreams our lives would be empty.

JUSTICE DELAYED IS JUSTICE DENIED

In vogue justice delayed is justice denied is a

very smooth saying, the delay in justice relates

to the delay in actual deliverance of justice or

passing of the final order into the matter after

the round up of the entire proceedings in full

conformity of the prescribed procedures in

respect thereof. In India, there is an inordinate

delay in the disposal of cases due to highly

time consuming procedure. The justice as such

is becoming costlier, in terms of time and

money. As a matter of fact, the system of law

needs modification, The modifications should

aim at shortening the period of proceedings of

the court, amendment in the rules and

regulations governing court proceedings and

simplification of the procedures, so that

people’s faith in the legal system may not

finish. Secondly, a time limit should be fixed

for the disposal of cases. Unless such steps, to

ensure speedy disposal of cases, are not taken,

the present system cannot give a desirable

performance. SATAKSHI AWASTHI
