Uzbekistan and Malaysia bilateral relations.

INTRODUCTION. Brief about politics of Uzbekistan and Malaysia.

• POLITICS OF UZBEKISTAN.• The Republic of Uzbekistan is a

presidential constitutional republic.• Presidency was instituted in

Uzbekistan on March 24, 1990.• The president of the Republic of

Uzbekistan is both head of State and head of Government.• The government of the Republic of

Uzbekistan exercises executive power in Uzbekistan.• Legislative power of Uzbekistan

consists of two chambers: The Senate and the Legislative Chamber.

• POLITICS OF MALAYSIA.• Malaysia is based on a federal

constitutional monarchy.• The king is head of State and The

Prime Minister is the head of Government.• Executive power is exercised by

the federal government and the 13 state governments.• Federal legislative power is vested

in the federal parliament and the 13 state assemblies.• Legislative power is bi-cameral

legislature which is consisted the Senate and House of Representative.

of Three courts: • 1. The Constitutional Court: which

controls the execution of the Constitution and its principles. • 2. Supreme Court: which is the

paramount body in the system of civil, criminal and administrations legal proceedings.• 3. Supreme Economic Court: which is

the ultimate judicial body in the sphere of regulating economic relations.

• POLITICS OF MALAYSIA• Judiciary power is consisted

with four courts:• 1. Federal Court. 2. Court of

Appeal. 3. High courts. 4. Subordinate courts.• Federal court is the highest

civil court. It has power to determine constitutional issues.

Beginning of bilateral relations in Uzbekistan and Malaysia.• Uzbekistan and Malaysia bilateral relations began from the independence of Uzbekistan• In 1 January 1992, Malaysia recognized the independence of Uzbekistan.• Both countries established diplomatic relations on 21 February 1992.• The foundation for improvement of friendly relations and mutual cooperation was laid during the exchanges of official visits of the President of Uzbekistan ISLAM KARIMOV in 1992 and prime minister of Malaysia MOHATHIR MOHAMMAD in 1993.

Continue…• The legal basis of the bilateral relations consists of 47 signed documents.• In June 1993, the Embassy of Malaysia was opened in Tashkent which is the capital city of Uzbekistan.• Since December 1999, the Embassy of Uzbekistan has been operating in KUALA-LUMPUR. • In 2003 the King of Malaysia His Majesty Tuanku Syed Sirajuddin Syed Putra Jamalullail paid a visit to Uzbekistan.

The 20TH ANNIVERSARY OF THE ESTABLISHMENT OF DIPLOMATIC RELATIONS BETWEEN UZBEKISTAN AND MALAYSIA

- - The year 2012, Uzbekistan and Malaysia celebrates its 20th anniversary of diplomatic ties which was established on 21 February 1992.

- Relations of Uzbekistan with Malaysia are characterized by strong bonds of friendship and solidarity.

- "Uzbekistan-Malaysia" Friendship Society was established in 1998 further supports the development and strengthening of these relations.

The Friendship Society organized various cultural and educational activities devoted to themes about Uzbekistan and Malaysia.

- These activities serve to enrich the knowledge of youth in our countries.

- Since recent years the Friendship Society is showing an increase in efficiency of its activities.

-  The Alumni of the Malaysian Technical Cooperation Program was founded within the Friendship Society in 2006.

Educational Relations.• Malaysia is keen to attract more people from

Uzbekistan to study in Malaysia which is less expensive as compared to Europe, the United Kingdom and the United States.• A 42 member UniMAP delegation headed by the Vice-

Chancellor of the UniMAP, made an educational trip to Uzbekistan on 1-7th December 2009.• This educational trip gave uzbek students to exchange

and increase their knowledge with malay students.• The 7th Malaysia Education Exhibition 2012 was held

in Tashkent Palace Hotel, Tashkent from 14 to 15 April 2012.• Malaysia and Uzbekistan had signed an inter-

governmental memorandum of cooperation on education in 21January, 2014.

Official Visits in both countries.

- The Foreign Minister of Uzbekistan received the new Ambassador of Malaysia Dato Norayni binti Abdul Hamid in 12 November 2014.

- The meeting discussed the status and priority areas for further strengthening of Uzbek-Malaysian relations.

- Then both sides made agreement about prospects of cooperation within the UN, the Organization of Islamic Cooperation and other international structures.

Islam Karimov visited to make an agreement with PETRONAS Corporation Malaysia in October 2005 in the course of state.

- UzbekNeftGaz national holding company and PETRONAS Corporation signed a Memorandum of cooperation and the Agreement on joint development of oil-and-gas resources.

- The relation of Uzbekistan with Malaysian giant corporate PETRONAS is so far developing steadily and successfully.

Islam Karimov received the President and CEO of PETRONAS Group Malaysia Tan Sri Dato Sri Mohd Hassan Marican on 11 December 2007.

- His visit to Uzbekistan is one more confirmation of gradual continuation of mutual cooperation and consolidation of mutual relations.

Conclusion.• Uzbekistan highly values the growing cooperation with

Malaysia and considers this country as one of the most important partners in Asia.• The Uzbek-Malaysian diplomatic relations we express the

confidence that mutually beneficial relations between our countries will expand and consolidate year by year. • I am confident that the friendly relations and cooperation

between Uzbekistan and Malaysia will further and comprehensively develop for the benefits and prosperity of our countries.
