JOB DESCRIPTION

JobTitle:Shop Assistant September to May for 24 Weeks on a 2 year fixed term contract

Place of Work:Based at Students Union Campus, Magee

Reporting to:Shop Manager

Hours:15-20 Hours Per Week

Salary/Wage:Single Pay Spine Grade 1 Point 1

Purpose of Job:To assist in the smooth and profitable running of the Students Union Shop in Magee

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

The postholder will be directly responsible to the Students Union through the Shop

Manager, Magee particularly for:

Customer Care;-

Dealing with all customer requests in a pleasant and helpful manner;

Assisting with sales, presentation and promotion.

Stock/Cash Control:-

Operation of till and handling of cash;

Cooking of food as required;

Binding/laminating of customer work;

Operating/cleaning of coffee machine;

Shelf stacking, including stock rotation, pricing and merchandising;

Assist with ordering and acceptance of deliveries;

Responsibility of being a keyholder;

Arranging stock in seasonal displays.

Record and report fridge and freezer temperatures

Cleaning hot food oven and display shelf

General Duties:-

Cleaning and dusting of floors, fridges and shelving;

A degree of responsibility for the supervision of casual staff is necessary;

The postholder may have sole charge of the shop in the Shop Managers absence.

Comply with all Health and Safety and hygiene regulations in force, as directed by the Shop Manager.

professionalism by personal example.

(iii) Undertake such other duties as instructed, as are within the scope and spirit of

the job purpose, the title of the post and its grading.
