What defines a society?▪ A society is defined by how the environment is. Is it good, bad, or

both, the two classifications are utopian and dystopian. Utopian means good and a perfect society. Dystopian however, is quite the opposite, this type of society is a very awful society. Nobody is happy in these societies .

▪ Jerusalem- “The Bible”

▪ Atlantis- Greek Mythology

▪ Heaven- Christianity, Catholicism

▪ Dystopian

▪ Community from- “The Giver”

▪ Capital City-”The Hunger Games”

▪ Chicago-”Divergent”

▪ London-”V for Vendetta”

▪ Europe-WW2

▪ North Korea

Characteristics▪ Utopian

▪ Peaceful government

▪ Equality for citizens

▪ Access to education, healthcare, employment, and so on.

▪ A safe environment

▪ Dystopian

▪ Usually a controlling and oppressive government or no government

▪ Extreme poverty, hunger, conflicts between poor and the rich, illiteracy, Little or no education.

▪ Controlling propaganda

▪ Free thinking and independent thought is banned.
