The University of Tennessee at Martin Parsons Center is the fourth off-campus site for UT Martin and opened its doors in 2007. The center is the result of a joint construction project by the Ayers Foundation, City of Parsons, and Decatur County. The UT Martin Parsons Center offers six full bachelor’s degrees and a variety of general- education undergraduate courses for those who are interested in working toward a degree close to home. Degree Programs Criminal Justice (B.S.) Graduates with a Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice have had success in obtaining positions in virtually every state, local, and federal criminal justice agency. An increasing number of students are enrolling in law school, graduate schools of criminal justice or public administration due to the enhanced career opportunities for those who hold advanced degrees. The curriculum requires a core of broad-based courses, while elective courses are offered in more specialized areas. When taken in conjunction with the core courses, elective courses allow students to pursue a particular area of criminal justice as a career. Educational Studies at the UT Martin Parsons Center has as its primary mission the preparation of K-6 classroom teachers who exhibit understanding and proficiency with the following characteristics: communications, reflection/relevance and purpose, collaboration, technology, higher order thinking skills, assessment, diversity, professionalism and pedagogy skills. All teacher preparation programs are approved by the Tennessee State Board of Education and accredited by the National Council for Accreditation of Teacher Education (NCATE). Degree Programs Nursing (B.S.N. or L.P.N. to B.S.N.)UT Martin offers West Tennessee’s only basic baccalaureate program in nursing at a public institution outside of the Memphis area and the Parsons Center offers two tracks: traditional B.S.N. and L.P.N. to B.S.N.

The program is open to any student who meets the entrance requirements of the University and the department of Nursing. Upon successful completion of the program, the graduate is awarded the Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) degree by the University of Tennessee and becomes eligible to take the National Council Licensure Exam for licensure as a registered professional nurse.

Psychology (B.S.)The Psychology major is designed for students who want to graduate with a Bachelor’s Degree and attend graduate or school wor enter the workforce in a variety of applied areas, including mental health, drug rehabilitation, business, industry, or human resources.

The program consists of broadly-based liberal arts courses with a major in Psychology and a related subject minor.

Social Work (B.S.S.W.)Students graduating with a major in Social Work are prepared for entry into employment at the first professional level in Social Work practice.

Course offerings are designed to provide various levels of learning including field activities. Throughout the program, majors encounter both providers and consumers of social services. Students are able to integrate classroom learning and field experience through meaningful interaction with human/social services professionals and with clients, patients, consumers, and others.

Interdisciplinary Studies (B.I.S.)The College of Education, Health, and Behavioral Sciences offers the Bachelor of Interdisciplinary Studies (BIS) degree. This degree is a full, 4 year baccalaureate self-designed general studies degree that complies with all university requirements as well as allows students to choose courses that best match their career goals. The BIS degree can either be obtained through traditional on-campus coursework or online.
