PARTICIPATORY METHOD

ASSESSMENT CRITERIA

USM Transdisciplinary Grand Challenge is a research output competition for students in the form of products, ideas or concepts that incorporate the transdisciplinary approach in completing a final year project, assignment, studio project or other assessments, which will give a positive impact to the society. Transdisciplinary refers to a combination of at least two or more fields of study in producing a new innovative solution to a socio-economic problem.

INTRODUCTION

CATEGORIES TERMS AND CONDITIONS

There are seven (7) categories of assessment which are based on the Malaysian Socio-Economic Drivers:(1) Pure and Applied Sciences(2) Technology and Engineering(3) Clinical and Health Sciences(4) Social Sciences(5) Arts and Applied Arts(6) Natural and Cultural Heritage(7) Information and Communication Technology

(1) Participation is free of charge and open to all local and international Undergraduate Students (including Diploma Students).(2) Participants can submit only one (1) application among the following options: (a) Final Year Project (b) Assignment (c) Studio Project (d) Other Assessments(3) Each student may apply for this competition as an individual participant or in a group.(4) Only those who are shortlisted will be called for an interview with the competition judging panel.

(1) Every student must submit an A2 poster. Any images used in the poster must be in high resolution (600 ppi).(2) Students must submit their application form to HEBAT Development Centre (e-mail to [email protected]) after it has been endorsed by the respective Dean / Deputy Dean / Program Supervisor / Lecturer.(3) Deadline: 15th August 2021

There are TWO stages of assessment.

(1) Stage One

(a) Problem Statement 10% (b) Proposed Solution (Impact) 40% (c) Transdisciplinary element (Every proposed product / idea /concept must have this element that combines TWO or more fields of study) 30% (d) Poster Design 20% Total 100%

(2) Stage Two Those who pass the first stage will advance to the second stage. Participants at this stage will be required to prepare a three (3)-minute presentation using not more than five (5) slides of PowerPoint / Keynote / Canva / other computer programs.

The assessors’ decision is �nal.
