using your learning style
DESCRIPTION
Hypnotherapy works best when the therapist can implant suggestions that are tailored to your learning style, which can be visual, audio or kinaesthetic. Visuals learn by seeing and pictures, audios learn by listening and by words, and kinaesthetics learn by doing and feeling.TRANSCRIPT

Everyone is wired differently – but you probably didn’t need this article to tell
you that. One of the ways where we differ in our wiring is in our learning
styles.
If you’ve had a brush with teacher training then you’ve probably heard of
the different learning styles, but the majority of us haven’t.
There are three main learning styles: visual, audio and kinaesthetic.
Most of us will have one main learning style or be a blend of the two of them. It’s important to know your style, as
this will help you know how you learn new things.
You may wonder what on earth this has to do with hypnosis, but if you know
your learning style and let your therapist know this, your therapist can
tailor their suggestions to suit your style.
The first of the three styles is visual.
Visuals learn by reading things and also by picturing things. Visuals learn well
from charts and pictures, and from watching others do things.
In the context of hypnotherapy, a visual learner will respond best to
images placed in the mind – mental movies of the behaviour that you aim to
have.
The second style is audio.
Audio learners learn by hearing things, and if they want to memorise things,
using music and rhyme is often a good approach.
Audio learners respond very well to the classic suggestions of hypnosis where phrases and words that describe the
desired outcome are implanted deep in the psyche.
Thirdly, you have the kinaesthetic learners.
Kinaesthetics learn by doing – they’re very hands-on people. They like to
touch and feel things, and to experiment with things.
In the context of hypnotherapy, the suggestions implanted by the therapist may be a blend of mental imagery and words but should focus on the actions
linked to the desired outcome.
What kind of learner are you?
