Finding Information
• Where to look:– Books– Encyclopedias– Dictionary– Magazines– Maps– Internet– People (interviews with
experts)– Newspapers– Textbooks
Information
• You must read to be able to begin to understand your topic and research question.
Books• Go to the Morrisson Reeves website to access their list of available
books online-
• http://www.mrlinfo.org/online.html
• Logon to the online catalog- Web PAC
• Do a search for keywords that have to do with your topic. Print out a list of at least 10 books that may contain information about your topic
Finding Information Within the Sources
• Use the Table of Contents, Glossary, and Index to locate specific information within each source.
Online magazines• INSPIRE- Indiana Virtual Library• STEP 1: Open Internet Explorer• STEP 2: Go to INSPIRE at http://www.inspire.net• STEP 3: Click on “Search the INSPIRE Databases”• STEP 4: Click on “INSPIRE kids”• STEP 5: Type in topic and click Go• STEP 6: Look through list of articles for relevant articles. If you want
to view one, click on the magnifying glass with the word READ or click the letters PDF
