Build a Rubric

Click build rubric from the iRubric home screen

Click Start to begin building your rubric
- Click start for Option A for a new rubric

Enter descriptive information
- Required information is marked with red- Complete all information- Do not put course number in the title (put it in
the keywords box so that it can be searched in the future)

- Add enough detail in the cells to give students an idea of what is expected
- Add rows and columns as needed- You can add new sections (sub-
rubrics) with different grade scales

- Save the rubric with settings of your choice
- You can test run the rubric to make sure it yields the expected results

Attach a Rubric

- Navigate to the proper course- Set up your gradebook item- Click Edit beside the gradebook item

- Click Select Rubric to go to the rubric library and attach the rubric to the assignment

- Click select a rubric to launch a screen that displays all of your rubrics

- Click select beside the rubric you want to attach

- Click Save to complete the attachment process
- A green save confirmation message appears so that you know you have successfully attached your rubric

Grade with a Rubric

- Click on the rubric icon to grade this assignment using the attached rubric
Education Technology Services
- Click on the cells and the rubric is automatically totaled and scored
- Add comments to give the students tips for improvements
- Add additional comments on students overall performance and any private notes to other instructors
- Click save score

- The system calculates the scores based upon how the rubric was initially defined and how it was set up in the rubric assignment screen

- Click the red text to bring scores from iRubric to your screen.
- NOTE: Scores will not submit to Oncourse until you click Save Changes at the bottom.
- The system keeps a change log to see history

- Students access rubrics from the Gradebook area in Oncourse
- Student are able to see exact grading criteria prior to assignment due date
- Click the rubric icon to see the rubric grading and details

- Students see the detailed scoring- The overall score is prominently
displayed at the top of the rubric- Hints for improvement are displayed
with a link to display the additional feedback
