Tutorial 1 - Registering devices

Note: Before registering a device you must connect the ActivHub to your computer. Check that your deviceshave been numbered. Doing this allows you to keep track of which student uses which voting device. Openthe 'Voting Browser'.

1.

Click on 'Device Registration'.2.Select 'ActiVote(s)'.3.Click on 'Register'.4.Choose the number of devices you want to register.5.Click on 'Next' and follow the on-screen instructions to register your devices. Once registered, the deviceswill be shown in the 'Device Registration' window.

If you want to remove an individual device, select the device.7.Click on 'Remove'.8.You will be asked to confirm that you want to do this by clicking 'Yes'. Note: You can delete all the devices atonce by clicking on 'Remove All' in the ActiVote(s) box.

Click on 'Done'.10.

Tutorial 2 - Assigning students to devices

In the 'Voting Browser' click on 'Assign students to devices'.1.Note: Student details can be imported from an existing database file or you can generate a database fromwithin ActivInspire. To do this, click on 'Edit Database'.

Click on 'Add Class'.3.Enter the Class Name and Teacher Name; Notes are optional. Click on 'Submit'.4.Click on 'Add Student'.5.Enter the student details and click on 'Submit'.6.Select the class. Select the students you want to assign to voting devices and click on the arrow.7.Click on 'OK'.8.Ensure 'Assign devices by PIN' is selected and click on 'Assign Devices'. Students can now assign their owndevices by entering the PIN number displayed. When complete all the devices will be highlighted green.

Click on 'Finish'. The student names are now displayed in the 'Voting Browser'.10.

Open the 'multiple_choice.flipchart'. Click on the 'ExpressPoll' button.1.Hover over the Wonderwheel.2.Select 'Multiple Choice'.3.Select 'Multiple Choice A-D: 1 Response'.4.Set a response time. Tutorial 5 - Using the 'Insert Question Wizard'

Click on the 'Main Menu' button.1.Select 'Insert'.2.Select 'Question'.3.With 'Multiple Choice' selected change the number of options to 4.4.Click on 'Next'. Ensure 'Replace the page content with a new design' is unchecked. Click on 'Next' and type inyour question with the possible responses. Click on 'Next' and assign a correct answer.

Click on 'Finish'. The question and possible answers are added to the flipchart as editable text objects.6.Notice the 'Start/Stop Flipchart Vote' button is now highlighted green. Click on this button to start the votingsession. The results are displayed after the vote.

Tutorial 6 - Looking at the results

In the 'Voting Browser' click on '+' next to 'Results Browser sortinorder'.1.Select the question you want to display the results for.2.Click on the 'Popup Menu'.3.Select 'View Results'.4.Use the drop down menu for different display options.5.Select 'Who Answered What List'. Correct answers are highlighted in green in all results displays, apart fromthe pie chart, where they are highlighted in red.

Click on the 'Paste Vote Results' button.7.Close the 'Vote Results' window.8.Click on the 'Export' button to export the results to Excel. You will be asked to name and save the file.9.When using ExpressPoll, after the vote a new flipchart page is automatically created containing the resultsand editable text objects for the question and possible answers. Use the 'Page Browser' to view this page.

Tutorial 7 - Settings

Click on the '+' symbol next to 'Settings'. Here you can select to show assigned devices only.1.LRS settings can also be changed in the 'Edit Profiles' window. Click on the 'Main Menu' button.2.Select 'File'.3.Select 'Settings'.4.Ensure 'Learner Response System' is selected and check 'Apply timeout to prepared questions'.5.Enter a 'Question timeout'.6.Click on 'Done'.7.
