Baltic Shimmers requirements:

Disk space: 1,1 GbRAM: 4GbDisplay resolution: 1366 x 768 (1920 x 1080 recommended)

Mac OS: 10.12 / 10.13 / 10.14 / 10.15Windows 64 bit: 8.x/10

*Baltiv Shimmers is a sample library created with Steinberg's Halion sampler. It requires freeHalion Sonic SE3 to be installed in your system to run. If don’t have Halion 6, Halion Sonic 3 orHalion Sonic SE3 already installed, you need to login / register to steinberg user account andactivate your free license of Halion Sonic SE3. Activation requires eLicencer software which youcan also download directly from Steinberg's website.

Installation and activation process is described in detail in Installation chapter.

Baltic Shimmers is a sample library created for Steinberg’s Halion software family. If you don’town Halion 6 or Halion Sonic 3 you need free copy of Halion Sonic SE3. You also needeLicencer software to activate Halion Sonic SE3.

Part 1 - Setting up MySteinberg account (only if you don’t have one yet)

Visit my.steinberg website andpress “Create Steinberg ID”

Fill forms and click “Continue”.

Check your email and copyverification code from Steinberg.

Go back to web browser and pasteyour verification code to confirmyour Steinberg account

Press continue.

Download and install latesteLicencer

Install elicencer and run it afterinstallation.

Your my.steinberg account shouldnow be active

Part 2 - Installing and registering eLicencer software

In Registration menu choose“Register at MySteinberg” or“Register all eLicencers atMySteinberg”.

This will open mysteinberg websitein your web browser.

Login to your mysteinberg accountif needed.

After that your Soft -eLicencershould be registered.

Press “Continue”.

Request free license of HalionSonic SE3 at product page.

Press “Submit” to request alicense

After login into my.steinberg account, you’ll be asked to confirm subscription.

Press “Confirm”. Your activation code has now been sent to your email.

Part 3 - Installing Halion Sonic SE3 (skip this part if you have Halion 6 or Halion Sonic 3)

Download and Install Halion Sonic SE 3 using provided links.

Next, copy activation code from your email.

Open eLicencer software

Chose “Enter ActivationCode” from Action menu

Paste your activation codeand press “Continue”

In next widow choose yoursoft-elicencer and press“Download License”.

Your Halion Sonic SE3license is now active.

Part 4 - Installing Sonic Atoms sample library.

Double click on sample library installation file(example: SonicAtoms_LibraryName.vstsound)

*this will open Steinberg Library Manager (if not, openSteinberg Library Manager app manually and then drag anddrop “.vstsound” library file on Steinberg Library Managerwindow.

Install the library into default locationor choose “install path” to choosecustom location.

After installation is complete, press OK an Sonic Atoms library should now be visible on your list:

Shimmer instrument type is complex texture, with3 types of states: stable, wave and shimmer.

PADS

Pad instrument type is built from 3 sound sources(“Atoms”). Atom 1 & 2 are long evolving textureswhile atom 3 is sound of sea waves, triggered byMIDI Note Off event.

DRONES

Drone instrument is based on a single but very long andevolving sound source. Additional controls allow tomodify and add even more motion to it. Drones weredesigned to be played on low notes but some of thepatches sound very interesting in high registers as well.

Baltic Shimmers collection comes with 3 types of instruments: Shimmers, Pads and Drones.Every patch type has its own unique GUI and controls.

Morhping - Controls state of a sound andallows to crossfade between 3 states. When setto left sound is most stable (pad like). Whilemoving controler toward right, sound starts towobble and behave more like a “wave”. Whenset to right, sound is dispersed and sometimessparkly and plucky almost like a foam on thetop of sea wave.

Wavelenght - Controls “wave” cycle, which is1 bar long by default and synced to hosttempo.

Tuning - Controls fine tuning of entireinstrument.

Mixer - Allows to change volume of “atoms”.Every “atom” is an independent sound.Atoms 1 and 2 are mostly long and evolvingpads and textures, while “Atom 3” is a sound ofsea waves, triggered by key release.

Mod Freq - Controls modulation interval. Itworks best when set to low value, than it createsslowly evolving texture. However setting highervalues may create interesting organic pulse.

Lfo Shape Menu - Controls oscillation type ofmain modulator.

Lfo Trigger Menu - Allows to set modulatorbehavior. When set to “Off” modulation cycle isfree. When set to “First note”, modulation cyclerestarts after hitting first note of legato passage.When set to “Every note” modulation cyclerestart with every new note.

Tuning - Controls fine tuning of entireinstrument.

LFO 1 & 2 SECTIONS

Mod Freq - Controls modulation interval. Independently forLFO 1 and LFO 2. It works best when set to low value, than itcreates slowly evolving texture, especially when LFO 1 and LFO2 values are a bit different. However setting higher values maycreate interesting organic pulse.

LFO Influence - Allows to assign modulation to chosendestinations: Filter (Cut Off), Distortion, Pitch (Course) andPanning. Influence can be set positive and negative values,which determines modulation direction. Influence ofLFO 1 and LFO 2 can be set independently.

LFOShapeMenu - Controls oscillation typeofmainmodulator.

Lfo Trigger Menu - Allows to set modulator behavior. Whenset to “Off” modulation cycle is free. When set to “First note”,modulation cycle restarts after hitting first note of legatopassage. When set to “Every note” modulation cycle restartwith every new note.

FILTER SECTION

Filter Type Menu -Allowing to choose fromdifferent variations of high,low and band pass filters.

Cut Off - Controls chosenfilter frequency range.

Resonance - Controls filtercurve. Higher resonancegives volume boost on theend of filter’s frequencyrange.

DISTORTION SECTION

Dist. Type Menu - Allowsto choose variousdistortion algorithms.

Distortion - Controlsdistortion drive.

Saturation - Controlsadditional saturation drive.

TAPE ECHO SECTION

Echo Time - Controls echointervals. It’s synced withDAW’s tempo.

Feedback - Controlsnumber of echo repeats.

Vintage - Adds morecharacter to a sound andmore modulation,imitating old tape echounit.

Echo Mix - Controlsbalance between drysignal and tape echo.

REVERB SECTION

Er.Type Menu - Allows tochoose early reflectiontypes to imitate specificroom ambience.

Predelay - Controls reverb’stime offset.

Tail - Control reverb timelength.

Room Size - Controlsdiffusion and timing ofreverb.

Reverb Mix - Controlsbalance between drysignal and reverb.

PRE MAPPED MIDI CONTROLS

CC1 (Modwheel) - Controls mainmodulation depth in reverse. Whichmeans, when modwheel is turned downmodulation based on LFO and Envelope(“wave” in Shimmer instument type), isON. By moving modwheel up,instrument’s global modulation turnsOFF.

CC11 (Expression pedal) - Controlsoveral instrument volume

MIDI LEARN

Every knob, fader and “wave” controller can be assigned to prefered MIDI CC by using MIDI Learnfeature. To use MIDI Learn click on chosen GUI controller with right mouse button and choose “LearnCC” from Pop-Up menu.

QUICK CONTROLS

HALION’s quick controls are connectedto instrument’s Envelope (Attack,Sustain, Release) and allows to overwritedefault Envelope settings.

Additionally there is global volumecontrol and “Morphing” (only in“Shimmer” instrument type) whichoverwrites “wave” controller inShimmer’s GUI.

LICENSE AGREEMENT

All Sonic Atoms sample libraries and sample packs you purchase are licensed, not sold to you. That license ispersonal and cannot be sold or transferred to anyone else. By downloading Sonic Atoms digital product, youagree to following terms:

YOU ARE ALLOWED TO

Use Sonic Atoms instruments and single samples incommercial and non-commercial musicalcompositions.

Install Sonic Atoms instruments and samples onmultiple systems as long as they are used by singleowner. For instance: You may use our sounds ona laptop and multiple studio rigs as long as onecopy / license is being used at a time.

Use Sonic Atoms instruments and samples in gameproduction and implement your music usingseparated samples and STEMs in game engine, aslong as they are needed by production process andnot being distributed and published as single soundfiles.

Use Sonic Atoms instruments for creating productionmusic / library music and grant access to tracks andSTEMs to third parties, as long as shared tracks andSTEMs are needed due to media production andpostproduction process and are not published inoriginal form.

YOU ARE NOT ALLOWED TO

Share Sonic Atoms instruments and samples withanyone else. This includes making any of the contentof the Library available on a network through any filesharing services.

Use one license on multiple computers at the sametime by multiple users. For instance if there is a studiohiring multiple composers, you need as many licensesas many working at the same composers you have, oras many workstations.

Create samples, sample packs, sample libraries andvirtual instruments based on Sonic Atoms contentand share with anyone else. This includes processingour sounds and creating new content based on ourcontent.

Re-sell the license to any part nor entire productmade by Sonic Atoms.
