    Screen Before Login

    When you access the URL of Scomb, the screen before login will be displayed.

    ① Log in The screen for logging in with your account issued by the Science

    Information Center will be displayed.

    ② Click here for logins other than Guarantor or SIC-ID

    The screen for logging in with an account not issued by the Science

    Technology Center(such as an account that begins with Scomb) will be

    displayed.

    ③ Go to SmartPhone Site You will be directed to the login screen of the smartphone site.

    * For details of the screen that appears, see "Login" in this manual.

    ④ Notifications Notifications including system stop and others are displayed.

    ⑤ Related Site Links Useful links for campus life are displayed.

    Logging in

    1.3.1 Account Issued by the Science Information Center Click the "Log in" button to display the screen for logging in with your account issued by the Science

    Information Center.

    Enter the user name and password, and then click the [Sign in] button to go to the HOME (portal) screen.

    1.3.2 Account Not Issued by the Science Information Center Click the "Guest login" link to display the screen for logging in with an account not issued by the Science

    Information Center.

    Enter the user name and password, and then click the [Sign in] button to go to the HOME (portal) screen.

    ① Forgot ID? You will be directed to the User ID Notification screen.

    ② Forgot password? You will be directed to the Reset Password screen.

    My Settings

    My Settings include Change Password, Update Notification Transfer Setting, Set Number of Items to be Displayed,

    Register My Link, and Design Skin Settings.

    ④ Set Number of Items to be Displayed

    You can set the number of items displayed on

    Scomb by information type.

    ⑤ Register My Link

    Register frequently used links to display them

    in the HOME (portal) screen.

    ⑥ Design Skin Settings

    You can change the skin (color) of Scomb.

    ③ Forwarding content (Update Notification

    Transfer Setting)

    You can set whether and how to transfer

    notifications by e-mail according to

    notification type.

    ② Email Address (Update Notification Transfer

    Setting)

    A notice will be sent to the e-mail address

    whenever information or update arrives on

    Scomb.

    Your registered university e-mail address is set.

    * The e-mail address cannot be changed.

    Calendar

    Personal events and automatically registered events will be displayed in the Calendar.

    You can add personal events.

    Registered events can be exported.

    3.1.1 Event Display

    At the time of initial display, the current day is selected with the

    background color: blue.

    Days with events registered will be displayed with the

    background color: gray.

    The following four kinds of events are displayed:

    1. Information on lecture cancellation, extra class,

    timetable change, and classroom change

    2. LMS Report submission day

    3. Community Report submission day

    4. Personal events Events 1. to 3. above will be automatically registered to

    the Calendar.

    3.1.2 Deleting Events

    You can delete the personal events you registered.

    Click a personal event displayed in the Calendar to display the "Edit this Event" screen.

    Click the [Delete] button. The event is deleted from the event list in the HOME (portal) screen.

    3.1.3 Exporting Events

    You can export events in ics format.

    Click the [Export Events] link. "Save?" or a similar message from the browser will be displayed.

    Save the file to a desired location such as the desktop.

    About the export data:

    The export data containing event information can be imported to Google Calendar and other applications that

    can read ics files.

    Questionnaires

    You can answer questionnaires addressed to you.

    There are two types of questionnaires: Open questionnaires and Anonymous questionnaires. (The type is

    indicated on the questionnaire.)

    You can also check the questionnaire results.

    3.2.1 Questionnaire Display Screen

    The results can be checked if the [Results Published] icon is displayed on the questionnaire.

    Select the title of a questionnaire to go to the answer screen.

    * For details, see "Answering Questionnaires" in this manual.

    3.2.2 Questionnaire List

    You can view the list of questionnaires.

    Click the [List] link under the questionnaire titles.

    Questionnaires you can answer or whose results are being published are displayed in the red-framed area.

    a. Icons displayed next to the questionnaire titles:

    ... Displayed for new questionnaires for 3 days after the acceptance of answers has started.

    ... Displayed for questionnaires whose results can be viewed.

    ・・・Displayed for the questionnaires you have already answered.

    ・・・Displayed for questionnaires whose answers are accepted on a first-come,

    first-served basis.

    ・・・Displayed for questionnaires that have reached their quotas.

    3.2.3 Answering Questionnaires

    To answer a questionnaire, go to the answer screen by clicking a title in the questionnaire list.

    ① Response Period Period during which answers can be returned is displayed.

    ② Open/Anonymous For open questionnaires, the answerers' names will be sent together with the

    answers to the person who created the questionnaire.

    For anonymous questionnaires, only the answers will be sent to the person who

    created the questionnaire.

    ③ Change Answer If change is "Permitted," you can correct the answers during the response

    period.

    After completing the questionnaire, click the [Confirm] button to go to the Confirm Answers screen.

    Check the details and click the [Submit] button.

    Submission will be completed with a completion message.

    For questionnaires whose answers are accepted on a first-come, first-served basis, the answers will not be

    accepted once their quotas are reached. In the answer screen of such questionnaires, the maximum number of

    respondents (up to X people) is displayed as follows:

    If the quota is reached, the following message will be displayed.

    Notifications

    In the portal screen, you can view "Notifications for you," "Notifications concerning your Course/Community,"

    and "Non-personal Notifications" by category.

    Notifications addressed to you are displayed.

    Unread notifications are displayed in boldface.

    Notifications can be printed, registered to the Calendar, or deleted from the description screen.

    Notifications can be received by e-mail if you have set to transfer them in "My Settings."

    3.3.1 Description of Notifications

    Select a notification from the list to display the description of the notification.

    a. Print You can print the notification description.

    b. Register on Calendar You can register an event to your calendar.

    * For notifications that are automatically registered to the Calendar, the [Register on Calendar] button

    becomes inactive.

    c. Delete The notification will be moved to Trash Box.

    Be sure to check all urgent notifications.

    3.3.2 Notification List

    Click the "List" link under a notification category to display a list of notifications.

    All the notifications in the selected category are displayed in the red-framed area.

    a. Bulk Deletion The selected notifications will be moved to Trash Box.

    b. Trash Box A list of notifications moved to Trash Box will be displayed.

    The list of notifications (on the right) changes as

    you select different categories.

    You can check the notifications you have deleted.

    Click the [Trash] link displayed at the bottom right of the "Non-personal Notifications" category to display the

    Trash Box screen.

    All the notifications in the selected category are displayed in the red-framed area.

    LMS

    Timetable

    Click the [LMS] tab from the HOME (portal) screen to go to the Timetable screen.

    Only the subjects you are enrolled in are displayed in the Timetable.

    When you select the Enrolled Subject List radio button, the subjects you are enrolled in that year/semester will

    be displayed.

    ① The background color changes depending on the subject type (for example, compulsory or not).

    ② If you point to [Classroom], the classroom name in the corresponding language will be displayed in a tooltip.

    Search screen to go to the Subject TOP screen.

    * Functions and content such as course materials, assignments, and quizzes are not available unless they are

    registered to the subject by the faculty member.

    Information

    Information related to the subject is displayed in the left pane.

    Five latest information items are displayed in the Subject TOP screen.

    * Each information item has a posting period set by the faculty member.

    ・Information items are not displayed outside their posting periods.

    * Information appears when its posting period starts. For 3 days after the posting period starts, NEW will be

    displayed with the information title.

    Once you check the information, NEW will disappear.

    Updates

    When an assignment or quiz is added or a comment is put on a submitted assignment, a notification appears

    under Updates in the left pane of the Subject TOP screen.

    * Once you check the update notification, it will disappear.

    * If the publication period of an unread update notification has passed, the notification cannot be checked.

    * You can receive update notifications by e-mail. (For details, see "My Settings" in this manual.)

    ・ The following updates are notified.

    Note: The attendance status is blank for future classes.

    Assignments

    You can submit a report as an electronic file.

    Report notifications are displayed in the HOME (portal) screen as well.

    4.6.1 Submitting Reports

    Go to Assignments in the Subject TOP screen.

    Click the title or [Submit] of an assignment within the submission period to go to the report submission screen.

    ① Add a file by drag & drop You can change the file upload method to the drag and drop method.

    * Some browsers do not permit file addition by the drag and drop method.

    In that case a message such as "Your browser does not support drag and drop file uploads." will be

    displayed.

    ② 参照 (Browse) Choose a report file to be submitted.

    ③ Add a file You can add a report submission field. Multiple files can be registered.

    * You can upload files of up to 50 MB each.

    ④ Creation time Enter the time taken to create the report. The value entered here will be

    registered to the report preparation time or review time for the lecture.

    (If the study category is Preparation, the value will be registered to the

    preparation time. If the study category is Review, the value will be

    ⑤Comment Enter your comment.

    After specifying a file, click the [Confirm] button to go to the confirmation screen.

    Check the details and click the [Submit] button.

    4.6.2 Checking, Editing, and Deleting

    You can check the submission status and comments from the faculty, or check, edit, and delete submitted files.

    Click the title or [Submit] of a submitted assignment to go to the report submission confirmation screen.

    ① Rubric If a rubric is registered, you can register evaluations, view the evaluations, or

    display the rubric.

    ② Comment from Teacher Comments from the faculty member are displayed.

    ③ Check report You can download a submitted report at any time by clicking the file name.

    ④ Delete report Check the check box of the submitted report you want to delete.

    Reports for which you have received a comment from the faculty member cannot

    be deleted.

    ⑤ Submit report You can submit additional reports.

    * Please note that if the actual file name and the entered file name of the report to be submitted are the same

    as those of an uploaded file, the report cannot be submitted.

    ⑥ Creation time You can change the time taken to create the report.

    ⑦ Comment You can enter your comment.

    If you have edited an item, click the [Confirm] button to go to the confirmation screen.

    Check the details and click the [Submit] button.

    Submission or deletion will be completed with a completion message.

    Changes to the letter grades are not reflected in the Result column in the Excel file. Once you upload the Excel

    ③ Open Period The open period is displayed.

    ④ Class contents The class contents are displayed.

    ⑤ Course materials Click the title to download the file or open the Web page. If the link is a

    video related to the lecture, the displayed viewing time will be added to

    the preparation time or review time for video viewing. (If [prep] is

    displayed before the title, the time will be added to the preparation time.

    If [rev] is displayed, it will be added to the review time.)

    ⑥ View Prep/Review Time Preparation/review time for each lecture class and the total time are

    displayed in a list, together with a button for downloading the list.

    * Once Open Period starts, course materials are displayed. For 3 days after Open Period starts, NEW will be

    Assignments

    Difference with LMS:

    ・In LMS, the preparation time and review time for assignments are managed by lecture class. However, since

    there are no lecture classes in communities, the preparation time and review time for assignments are managed

    by community.

    6.6.1 Submitting Assignments

    ① Add a file by drag & drop You can change the file upload method to the drag and drop method.

    * Some browsers do not permit file addition by the drag and drop method. In that

    case, a message such as "Your browser does not support drag and drop file uploads." will be displayed.

    ② 参照 (Browse) Choose a report file to be submitted.

    ③ Add a file You can add a report submission field. Multiple files can be registered.

    * You can upload files of up to 50 MB each.

    ④ Creation time Enter the time taken to create the report. The value entered here will be

    registered

    to the report preparation time or review time for the lecture. (If the study

    category is Preparation, the value will be registered to the preparation time. If

    the study category is Review, the value will be registered to the review time.)

    In some text entry areas, icons to insert markup tags which allow you to change the entered text to be bold, or

    change the colors of the text are provided.

    Click the icon to insert markup tags in the text entry area. You can change the appearance of text or insert

    links to images or Web pages.

    LMS

    Tap [LMS] on Global Navigation to display the Timetable screen.

    Only the subjects you are enrolled in or temporarily enrolled in will be displayed in the Timetable.

    Tap the lecture name link in the Timetable to display the Subject TOP screen.

    Tap and hold [Classroom] to display the classroom name in the corresponding language.

    When you select the Enrolled Subject List radio button, the subjects you are enrolled in that year/semester will

    be displayed.

    What you can do in the Timetable screen:

    ・Check the Timetable by day of week

    ・Check the Timetable by date

    ・Check the classroom name ・Go to the Subject TOP screen
