1. ON/HI: Turns the unit on and increases the output intensity. The higher the intensity, the larger the contraction. To adjust to maximum output you need to push this button 10 times.

2. OFF/LOW: Each pressing of this button decreases the intensity by one step down to 10 levels. Turns the unit off.

3. PROGRAM: This button is used to select one of the 6 preprogrammed exercise. The setting is indicated by the color and location of the two LED lights on the unit.

The AbTronic X1 unit has the following 6 programs:

OPERATION

1. Open the battery door by sliding it gently downward.

2. Insert the 1 pc CR 2032 Lithium Battery into the battery compartment. The positive “+” pole of the battery should be facing you. You can read the “+” symbol on the battery. Close the battery door.

OPERATION

1. Open the battery door by sliding it gently downward.

2. Insert the 1 pc CR 2032 Lithium Battery into the battery compartment. The positive “+” pole of the battery should be facing you. You can read the “+” symbol on the battery. Close the battery door.

3. Attach the AbTronic X1 unit onto the Neoprene Center

4. Attach the Velcro flexible belt male part (the rougher Velcro material that is only once on the flexible belt) to the Neoprene center piece Velcro female part (the softer Velcro material on the Neoprene centre piece). This is on the left side of the neoprene center piece when you look onto it.. If the belt is not long enough, you can use the second shorter belt as an extension.

5. Turn the Neoprene belt on its face and place a generous dab of the conductive training gel onto the 2 conductive areas. Spread it evenly and make sure the surface is covered under a film of gel – the use of the belt might feel uncomfortable otherwise.

Hint: Read the ingredient list on the toning gel that you are using. You should find “Water” or “Aqua” on it. DO NOT USE gel or creams that contain oils. The gel MUST be water based. If you have any doubt, use Aloe Vera Gel that can be easily obtained in any Drug Store.

6. Make sure the unit is switched off = no LED light is lighted up. If you have switched on the unit accidentally, than switch it off by pushing the “OFF/LOW” so that the LED light goes off.

7. Place the AbTronic X1 belt around your stomach or any other area you want to exercise and close the belt to a comfortable fit with the Velcro belt (not too tight).

8. Select Mode by pressing the “PROGRAM” button repeatedly. Every time you press the “PROGRAM” button a different LED or combination will light up indicating one of the 6 preprogrammed routines.

9. Push the ON/HI button several times to carefully increase the intensity.Adjust the intensity according to your comfort level. You should feel a light tingling.

10. The intensity has 10 steps. With every push of the button ON/HI you increase the intensity by one step, with every push of the button OFF/LOW you decrease the intensity by one step.

To switch the unit off, press the OFF/LOW button several times, until the LED lights go off.

The unit has an auto-timer. For your convenience it will shut off after 10 minutes of operation. However please use the system for 4 to 12 consecutive cycles/day for best results.

AUTO FUNCTIONS

When the conductive area of the belt (silver colored area) does not touch the skin, the intensity can only be set up to “1”.If the belt is removed during use, the intensity is automatically reset to “1”. If the belt is not placed back into contact with the skin, the unit will turn off after 20 seconds.The unit has an auto-timer. It will shut off after 10 minutes of exercise. If you change the exercise mode within the 10 minutes, the timer will count-down from the original leftover time.

WHAT TO DO IF YOU DO NOT FEEL THE STIMULATION

Should no stimulation or contraction be felt, move the belt slowly around the area where you want to work on. Make sure you have enough Toning Gel placed on the inside of the neoprene belt. Gradually increase the PULSE INTENSITY by pushing the ON/HI button several times.

IMPORTANT NOTES

If no or not enough conductive Toning Gel is applied to the neoprene belt, or the belt is not placed tightly against the skin, an uncomfortable tingling sensation could occur. This could also happen if the body has built up excessive oils on the skin. Before each use please ensure that the contact points are thoroughly covered with gel. The neoprene belt should be cleaned regularly with warm water to avoid the build up of body oils. A discoloration of the conductive area however is normal. Do not wash the belt in the washing machine or apply fabric conditioner. If there is a Iocalized redness or irritation on removal of the belt from your skin, this could be caused by the belt drying out during a session. Ensure that it is kept moist at all times.

A worn belt can reduce the performance of the unit or cause the belt to feel erratic. The neoprene belt is a consumable item and can wear after 3 months. Wear and tear is not covered by the guarantee. It should be noted however that this design of a belt lasts much longer than comparable “stick on” gel pads used in other units. For safety, and to avoid unnecessary discomfort, please ensure that the intensity settings are set to zero before and after using the machine.

Hint: VERY IMPORTANT: You MUST apply a conductive medium to the silver contact area inside the Neoprene Belt. The Belt must make contact with your skin. It will not work through clothing.

BELT PLACEMENT:

Belt Placement The conductive areas can be placed in many different positions, thus allowing more specific targeting of muscle groups.

There is a velcro belt that can be used to effectively target individual muscle groups. Please use the long or short Velcro belt to achieve the optimal results.

The diagrams in this booklet are provided as a starting recommendation only. AbTronicX1is a personalised training tool and can be adapted to suit the individual. Its intended use is for general physical conditioning. The diagrams shown, have just a letter shown for belt placement. If the contractions are not effective, then place the belt over the area closest. We do not recommend placing the belt over the heart. However as no effective muscle grouping is in this area, there is no need.

4.0 TAKING CARE OF YOUR UNIT

The ABTRONICX1 belt is made of quality materials. The only maintenance required with the ABTRONICX1 is to clean the conductive ara gently from time to time with a wet cloth, soapy water and to replace the battery.Do NOT immerse the belt in water or other liquids.Do not rub hard on the conductive areas. Do not wash the belt in the washing machine or apply fabric conditioner. NEVER BEND the conductive pads! A discoloration of the conductive area and a “crumbled look” after many uses however is normal. The conductive pads are a consumable item and can wear with use, depending on the gel you are using, your own body fluids and how often you use the belt. Worn conductive areas can reduce the performance of the unit or cause the belt to feel erratic. Wear and tear is not covered by the guarantee.It should be noted however that this is the most advanced 4th generation design of a belt that lasts much longer than comparable “stick on” gel pads used in other units. If several people want to share the ABTRONICX1 you can easily detach the computer unit by unsnapping it from the neoprene center and use it on your own personal belt for hygienic reasons. Just pull the unit off and put it on a new belt. The ABTRONICX1 is extremely energy efficient. The Batteries lasts for approx. 100 sessions of ten minutes. If the output becomes weak or the unit switches off automatically in less than 10 minutes, it is time to change the batteries (even if the LED is still lit up).The electronic computer unit is built very reliable and uses SMT technology. It is maintenance free and will give you many, many years of trouble free usage.

4.1 CARE AND CLEANING

� Do not wash the belt in washing machine or apply fabric softener as this can damage the belt

� Do not dry clean � Do not use bleach � Clean accessories with a slightly wet sponge with

detergent and wipe with a cloth. � Clean the unit with a cloth soaked with disinfectant

diluted in water at 1/10th. � Clean the training pads with a mix of water/hypoallergenic

detergent, then rinse thoroughly.

4.2 IMPORTANT – PLEASE READ

If no or not enough ABTRONICX1 toning gel is applied to the conductive areas, or the belt is not placed tightly against the skin, an uncomfortable tingling sensation can occur. This can also happen if the body has built up excessive oil on the skin. Before use, ensure that the contact points are thoroughly covered with gel. Please note that some discoloration of the conductive area and a “crumbled look” is perfectly normal. The unit remains functional even if, after heavy use, the conductive pads develop some cracks, as long as you use enough conductive gel.

DO NOT Bend the conductive areas. If you experience skin redness or irritation after removing the belt from your skin, this could be caused by the conductive pads drying out during a session. Ensure that the pads are kept moist

at all times and that you use plenty of the ABTRONICX1 training gel.

4.3 FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Q. How does the ABTRONICX1 really work?A. ABTRONICX1 is designed to copy the messages sent

from your brain to the abdominal muscle during exercise. This message causes the muscle to contract and relax.

Q. Can muscles become over-developed or strained?A. No - the principle is the same for general training of

muscles- the more exercise, with suitable periods of rest, the stronger the muscles become.

Q. Can this machine be used for all ages?A. Yes - absolutely. ABTRONICX1 is not age dependent

and can be used at any age. However, the very elderly and children should use it under supervision and, keep the intensity low.

Q. Will I find it uncomfortable?A. As long as the belt is moist and kept firmly against

the skin you will not feel any unpleasantness. At low

intensity you will feel a slight tingling sensation but as the intensity gets higher you will only feel the pleasant contraction. Start using it on your upper Abs first, not directly over the belly button where most people are most sensitive.

Q. Should the intensity settings be the same for each muscle?

A. Each muscle will respond differently, so intensities will accordingly be different. Move the belt around to find the right trigger point that gives you maximum contraction.

Q. Are there any contra-indications to use of the machine?A. Yes - If exercise is inadvisable due to ill health, then a

medical practitioner should be consulted before using this or any other device. Read all contra-indications on the last page carefully!

Q. When should I notice any effect?A. Depending on the frequency of use and body fat,

you should notice increases in abdominal strength within 1-2 weeks. Abdominal muscle tone will show within approximately 3 weeks after incorporating the ABTRONICX1 into your program.

Q. I am getting a prickling sensation but no contraction.A. Move the belt slightly to find the right trigger points

that give maximum contractions and the most pleasant feeling. Try increasing the intensity. This could also be caused because either the belt does not have enough toning gel on it (water based) or is not tightly placed

against the skin. Failing this remove belt and wash inner surface with wet cloth and soapy water to remove body oils.

Q. I noticed a redness of the skin after the exercise. Is this a problem?

A. A slight redness of the skin after a session with the ABTRONICX1 is normal. It should fade quickly. Some pressure to the skin from the stretched belt may also cause it. You should not be concerned about this. If the redness is excessive, you may not have used enough conductive toning gel or it may have dried out during a longer session. Try using more toning gel the next time, replenish it after each 10 minute session and use a lower intensity level.

5.0 CONTRAINDICATIONS

� ABTRONICX1 should NOT be used by people with cardiac pacemaker, defibrillator or other implanted electronic or metallic devices.

� ABTRONICX1 should NOT be used by pregnant women, and during first 6 weeks after their babies birth.

� ABTRONICX1 should NOT be used by people with undiagnosed pain syndromes and hemorrhagic diseases.

� ABTRONICX1 should NOT be used on injured or otherwise impaired muscles

� ABTRONICX1 should NOT be used on the heart area.

5.1 WARNINGS1. The long-term of chronic electrical stimulation are

unknown. 2. Apply electrodes ONLY to normal, intact, clean skin.3. DO NOT APPLY STIMULATION:

� Over the carotid sinus nerves. � Over the neck or mouth. Severe spasms of the laryngeal

and pharyngeal muscles may occur with contractions strong enough to clse the airway and/or cause difficulty in breathing. Stimulation over the neck can also have an adverse effect on the heart rhythm or blood pressure.

� Transcerebrally (through the head) � Over swollen, infected or inflamed areas of skin eruptions

(e.g., phlebitis, thrombophlebitis, varicose veins, etc.) � Transthoracically; introduction of electrical current into

the heart may cause rhythm disturbances, which could be fatal.

� Over or in proximity to, cancerous lesions. � If you are epileptic � After experiencing acute trauma or fracture � Following recent surgery � If you have a hernia (abdominal or lingual) � To the frontal, laryngeal and temporal regions of the

neck.4. Never use the ABTRONICX1 while driving, operating

machinery or during activities in which involuntary muscle contractions may endanger the user or others.

5. Do not use the ABTRONICX1 in the bath or shower6. Persons with suspected heart problems or epilepsy

should obtain appropriate medical advise. 7. The ABTRONICX1 should never be used while sleeping8. Do not immerse the ABTRONICX1 unit or belt in any

liquid.9. The ABTRONICX1 must be kept out of reach of children.

1. DO NOT use if there is tendency to Hemorrhage (acute trauma or fracture).

2. DO NOT use following any recent surgical procedure when muscle contraction may disrupt the healing process.

3. DO NOT use over the menstruating uterus.4. DO NOT use if you have skin areas that lack normal

sensation5. Place electrodes in accordance with illustrations

PRECAUTIONS:1. The safety of neuromuscular stimulation during

pregnancy has not been established.2. Place electrodesin accordance with illustrations in the

User Manual.3. Users should start all sessions in a sitting or prone

position (minimum for the first 5 minutes)4. This unit should not be used while driving, operating

machinery or during any activity in which involuntary muscle contractions may place the user at undue risk of injury.

ADVERSE EFFECTS

Skin irritation and burns beneath the electrodes has been reported with the use of electrical muscle stimulation.

5.3 POPULATION

The ABTRONICX1 is not suitable to use for infants or toddlers, it is suitable to use at any other age, however, the very elderly and children should use it under supervision and, keep the intensity low

5.4 IMPORTANT GUIDELINES

The ABTRONICX1 is extremely safe and simple to use, however, ABTRONICX1 does not take any responsibility for any harm caused due to misuse of the product. As a safeguard we suggest you read the entire manual and that if you have the following conditions, please seek professional medical advice before using the machine:

� After childbirth (see heading After Childbirth) � Persons using a heart pacemaker or with cardiac

condition � Epilepsy � Multiple Sclerosis � Phlebitis in its active phase (inflammation of a vein) � Where tissue is inflamed through disease or injury � Recent scar tissue or surgery � Varicose veins in its later stages � During the heavy days of your period do not use the

unit on your abs.

The ABTRONICX1 is intended to use on healthy muscles only. Unsupervised children should not use this machine

You can easily detach the unit from the belt if you want to clean the belt. To re-attach the unit just snap it on. For easy operation when the unit is used in the abdominal area the display can be flipped upside down with a push of the button.

6.0 TROUBLE SHOOTING GUIDE

Tip: You can determine whether your conductive pads are worn out and need replacing or whether the electronic unit does not generate sufficient output power. Simply unsnap the unit from the belt. Place a little bit of conductive gel on the tip of the fingers of one hand and press your fingers against the contacts of the unit. Switch the unit on and carefully increase intensity to level one or two. If the unit is working properly you will feel a tingling sensation in your fingers which indicates that you need to get new conductive pads.

IMPORTANT: POWER RESETIf the unit does not switch on, or if you can’t change to different programs, the microprocessor may have “hanged”. Please perform a simple RESET. Remove batteries and replace them after one minute.
