1) Console Start-Up and switch off procedure
1.1 Simplified procedure (with main keyboard)
Check that the scoreboard is powered up (the time is displayed).In cable version, join first the main keyboard to the connecting box.
1.1.1 Starting up the main keyboard
Press on key .
The VDU display shows that the console is started up.Wait a few seconds for the messages to scroll up.
Welcome message. The keyboard seeks the scoreboards in the hall.
Self-sufficient battery charge is OK (if a battery exists).
Indication of the level of radio reception and the number of scoreboards
communicating with the console.
If everything is OK, display of the last played sport :
Select the sport required by pressing ,
then validate it by pressing .
Select the type of rules required for the sport from the 2 or 3 configurations
available with the key, then validate with (exemple in
Basketball : choice play FIBA 4x10-24 sec. or 2x20-24sec. or 4x6-24sec.).
After pressing , the keyboard is ready to launch the match.
Refer to the page on the sport concerned paragraph 6 : description per
sport.
1.1.2 Timer
To start up or stop the timer, press on “Start/Stop” key.
1.1.3 Switching off the keyboard
At the end of the match, hold down the key for a minimum of 5 seconds,
until the display on the keyboard completely disappears (beeps emission).
The scoreboard shows the time, the keyboard has switched off, the VDU must be turned off.
1.1.4 Scores
To increment the points of the “Home” or ”Visiting” teams, press corresponding scores key.
1.1.5 Correction
To carry out a correction, press the key, the VDU blinks.
Change the informations to correct (press scores key, fouls, addition of time
until the right value to display) (To add time, stop the timer). As soon as the
correction is finished, press the key to come back in the normal mode.

1.2 Full Start-Up procedure
Check that the scoreboard is powered up (time displayed).
The control keyboard and the scoreboards work in the same way in HF radio or cable version.
Nota : in cable version, join first the main keyboard to the connecting box.
It is not necessary to deactivate radio modems of scoreboards, that is made automatically.
1.2.1 Starting up the main keyboard
If other keyboards are connected, see chapter 4.
Press on key .
The VDU display shows that the keyboard is started up.Wait a few seconds for the messages to schroll up.
Welcome message. The console seeks the scoreboards in the hall.
Self-sufficient battery charge is OK (if a battery exists).
Indication of the level of radio reception and the number of scoreboards
communicating with the keyboard.
If everything is OK, display of the last played sport :
If the keyboard does not automatically display the choice of sport, see the end of the notice in chapter 9

1.2.2 Choice of sport
Select the sport required by pressing the key
then validate by pressing the key.
Scrolling of sports also possible with and keys :
N.B. choice of sports from :Basket Ball, Handball, Volley Ball, Tennis, Badminton, Training Programme, Boxing, Wrestling, Squash,Basque Pelota, Water Polo, Ice Hockey.
After the choice of the sport, it is purposed for each sport 2 or 3 configurations of game "type of rules" the
most used. Each configuration has parameters of game by default which are modifiable and recordable with
the configuration programme for each sport. The factory configuration is always worth rescuing
1.2.3 Select the type of rules per sport
Select the type of rules required for the sport from the 2 or 3 types available with the key, then
validate with key.
After pressing the console is ready to launch the match. Refer to the page on the sport concerned(see chapter 6 : description per sport).

1.2.4 Restarting a new match
To restart a new match, hold down the key for 3 seconds. The keyboard again displays “Choice of
sport” (see chapter 1.2.2).
1.2.5 Switching off the keyboard
At the end of the match, hold down the key for a minimum of 5 seconds, until the display on the
keyboard completely disappears. The scoreboard shows the time, the keyboard has switched off.
Emission of beeps then stop of keyboard.
N.B.: The keyboard switches off automatically if it has not used for 1 hour (no key strokes recorded).
In HF link, store the keyboard in its carring case (if exisiting), making sure to recharge the battery for the next
users.
In cable link, it is no necessary to recharge the battery because the recharge is made by the main
scoreboard.

2) Definition of the keyboard keys
(1) Keyboard switch off key “OFF” or time display :
– Holding down the key for > 5 seconds switches the keyboard off (when the “keyboard switching off”message appears, the keyboard can be restarted by releasing the key).
– Holding down < 5 seconds displays the time or the sport being played.
(2) Correction key : press the key, the display flashes, press the key to correct it then press “correction”again to return to active mode.
– Correction mode is active for the scores and fouls even if the timer is running.– Correction mode is active on the game timer if the timer has stopped.
(3) “SELECT” key :
– Pressing the key < 3 seconds : select the choice of sport, type of configuration or parameter ofsport.
– Holding down the key > 3 seconds : configuration access menu per sport if display is ready for thestart of the match.
(4) “VALID” key :
– Pressing the key < 3 seconds :• Before a match : validate choice of sport or prepare the keyboard for the start of the match.• During a match : display battery self-sufficiency in %.
– Holding down the key > 3 seconds : restarts a new match, restarts the keyboard on the last sportpractised.
(5) Start-up keyboard key powers up and Start/Stop the timer.
(5a) Start/Stop time key (only).
(6) Reset match key : reloads the timer at the value programmed without modifying the scores and fouls(active if timer stopped).
(7) ± key increases or decreases the time value :
– Before start of match : minutes added or substracted.– During the match : with correction mode adds or substracts seconds.
(8) Counting/count down keys : enables the timer operating mode to be changed. See VDU � count down or� counting.
(9) and (9a) Horn key : activates or stops manually the horn.
(10) “Service” key : to show which team is to serve.
(11)(12) “Score” key : adds points for the “Local” or “Visiting” teams.
(13)(14) “Time out” key : changes the values of parameters per sport in the configuration menu or allocationof time outs per team.
(15)(16) “Fouls” key : adds up the fouls for the “Local” or “Visiting” teams.
(22)(22’) Start/Stop key for the possession time timer. Red diode indicates that the possession time timer hasstopped.
(23) Reset to 24 or 35 sec. Key for possession time (depending on the value programmed in the menu forconfiguring Basketball or Water Polo).If the “RESET” button is pressed, the playing time timer is less than the value of the possession time thenthe displays are blank).
(24) Clear possession time display key : only if the timer is stopped (STOP possession time timer).
(17) “Fouls” key : adds up the fouls for a player on the “Local” team.
(18)(19) “Scores” key : adds points for the “Local” or “Visiting” teams.
(20) “Fouls” key : adds up the fouls for the “Visiting” team.
(21) “Correction” key : press the key, the display flashes, press the key to correct then press the “correction”key again to return to active mode (correction of individual player fouls and of sports).

3) General notes on operating BT5000 HF scoreboards
Communication between the scoreboard and the main keyboard operates without any modification via HF
radio link (cordless) or via cable link.
The method of use for HF radio or cable version keyboards is the same.
A radio antenna is incorporated in the keyboard (not visible) (except for wired BT5000 HF Club main
keyboard).
A radio antenna is located on the top left-hand side of the scoreboard (for the BT5011 and
BT5012), for the other models BT5001/10 Club, BT5002P/6, it is incorporated in the scoreboard.
One keyboard can control 1 or several boards.
Before starting up the console, ensure that the scoreboard is powered with 230 V (display of time visible).
If the secondary keyboard is used for managing individual player fouls, it is controlled by the main keyboard.
Connect the secondary keyboard to the main keyboard before starting up the main keyboard (Cable with
yellow marking).
Proceed in the same way if the 24-35 seconds (Basket) keyboard is used and connect it to the main
keyboard (Fig 1, 2, 3 pages 7 - 8).
The HF keyboard can be supplied with 230 V if the internal battery is discharged (see chapter on recharging
keyboard batteries).
The main keyboard can be connected with wire to the main scoreboard (black marking).
3.1 Configuration per sport
The pre-recorded configuration for each sport can be modified :
Select and valid a sport and a type of rules. Display of the match ready to start.
To modify the parameters for the sport concerned, hold down for 3 seconds (emission of several
beeps).
Example for Basketball :
Display of modifiable parameters.
The parameters are different for each sport.
Using the and keys to modify the values for each
parameter and go to the next parameter by pressing .
Modify the parameters required by scrolling down using .
Refer to the “configuration” chapter for each sport (chapter 6 : description per sport page 16).
After scrolling through all the parameters, the keyboard goes back to the
start of match position with the new parameters values recorded from
pressing on the key (come out the parameters menu by validating
the new values).
If only a few parameters must be modified, it is possible to go back to the start of match position without
having to scroll through all the parameters by pressing (exit menu).

3.2 Correction mode
In correction mode the keyboard display blinks.
To make a correction, press on or .
– The VDU blinks to show that correction mode is active.
– Modify the information to be corrected (press the score, foul or extra time keys until the correct value isdisplayed).
– For scores and fouls, correction mode is active even if the timer is running, display of the new valuesbeing instant on the display board.
N.B.: for correcting the timer : display of the timer correction is immediately effected on the keyboard’s VDU.
Display on the scoreboard remains fixed on the last value shown until the key is pressed again to exit
correction mode once the operator is certain of the modification. Pressing the or keys will validate
the corrected information and the table will then display the same value as the keyboard’s VDU. The match
can be restarted then (this particular feature enables the operator to prepare the correction and to have it
validated by the score table officer or the referee before it is displayed on the scoreboard).
When the game time period is correct press to return to normal mode then start the timer by pressing
the “Start/Stop ” key.
Exemple of correction :
�Add 10 seconds of game to the main timer :
– Stop the timer with Start/Stop .
– Press the “correction “ key.
– Press the key 10 times (1 time for each second of game).
– Visualization on the VDU of the new information. The scoreboard stays with the display before correction.If the value is OK, press to come out of the correction menu.The scoreboard and the keyboard display the new value of the timer.
– Press or to restart the match.
�Add playing time to the possession time timer :
– Same operation but add + 1 second to each pressing key of main keyboard.
�Add playing time after the end of a period :
– It can be also realized after a period finished (horn has rung). Pressing “correction” key reveals the playingtime of the last period finished. Add play seconds with .
– Restart the match with Start/Stop. The game restart so to the last game period.
3.3 Modification of game time period
Before the start of a match it is possible to modify the playing time without going back into the configuration
per sport menu.
Once the timer value is displayed, the keyboard display is ready to launch a match.
– If the timer is in countdown mode�, press = minutes deducted.
– If the timer is in counting mode �, press = minutes added.
– Counting and countdown mode is modifiable with (hold down the key for a while).

– With each tap on the timer will reload the last value selected.
– If the keyboard is shut down or another match is started, with a press on the value of playing timewill revert to the pre-recorded value in the parameters for the sport concerned.
– In countdown mode, the timer counts down the value displayed until it reaches 0.
– In counting mode, the timer counts up from 0 until it reaches the programmed value.
– During the playing time (if the timer is stopped) :it is possible to reverse the operating mode for the timer with � or � without reversing its value (making
up one or more seconds if the timer stops too late for example).
– Warning :In ”Match” mode when the timer is running, the ; ; ; ; ; ; keysare inactive.
3.4 Recharging the main keyboard battery (except for wired BT5000 HF Club mainkeyboard)
After each utilisation, it is advisable to leave the main keyboard in charge with the mains charger in order to
the next user have a ready and charged keyboard. The keyboard can be in charge even in his storage case.
The keyboard can be connected permanently to the mains supply without deterioration.
– fixed green diode lighted : recharged battery.
– blinking green diode lighted : battery charges.
At any time, it is possible to see the level of the battery charge by pressing
the key when the keyboard is operating.
In the event of insufficient charge in the battery, a warning message appears on the keyboard’s VDU
accompagned by warning beeps :
or to starting up
The self-sufficient of the fully charged battery is more than 8 hours. The time necessary to completely
recharge the battery is approximately 4 hours.
If the keyboard is unloaded, it will emit a serial of beeps every 2 minutes to prevent the operator.
3.5 Displaying and setting the time
To display the time on the scoreboard, press the key.
The clock is internal to the scoreboard, therefore the scoreboard can be left switched off and the time will be
displayed even if the keyboard is switched off.
The time is saved during a power cut.
To return in Match mode, press again the key.

Setting the time :
– Press the key : to accede to the Hour menu,
– Press the key : the minutes blink, modification of values with or .
– Press the key : the hours blink, modification of values with or .
– Press again the key : to come out the Hour menu.
3.6 Radio communication
It is possible to check radio communication between the keyboard and the scoreboard by displaying the
activity of the diodes under the keyboard. When the diodes are blinking = sending of message to the
scoreboard.
In addition, on the scoreboard (near the antenna) it is possible to display the HF modem diodes (same
functioning).
If your scoreboard is out of order and that no diode blinks, make verify the working of your installation (see
chapter 9).
3.7 Saving information
HF radio and wiring version : in the event of a power cut to the scoreboard, the HF keyboard stores all the
information in its memory and the scoreboard display goes blank. When power is returned the scoreboard
redisplays the information from the keyboard.
3.8 User advice
In the radio-controlled version, remember to recharge the batteries after each use.
Switch off the keyboard (hold down the key for 5 seconds) then store it in its case while leaving (if
possible) the charger block switched on.

4) Main and appended keyboards
4.1 Start/Stop and horn control box - Main keyboard
Enables the 2 functions to be activated from the box :
– Main keyboard of the horn : time key is held down = duration of horn sound.
– Start/Stop : puts the playing time timer on/off.
4.2 Horn control box - Secondary foul keyboard
Enables the horn function to be activated from the box : time key is held down = duration of horn sound.
4.3 Secondary foul keyboard
Used for : Basketball, Handball, Ice Hockey, Water-Polo, Floorball and Rink Hockey.
The marking of the secondary foul keyboard is modified for the Ice Hockey with adding text.
The secondary foul keyboard must be connected to the main keyboard before starting up the main keyboard.
Yellow marking next to the multiconductor locking plug and ring on yellow wire for the secondary
keyboard. See chapter 2 : Definition of the keyboard keys.
The unused multiconductor locking plug are obscured with stud.
* For handball configuration of keys to assign a 2 minute penality to a player’s number.
When the main keyboard is started up :

4.4 24-35 seconds possession time keyboard
It’s used with displays BT5002P (Basket ball or water polo) or BT5006 (Basket ball).
Connect the 24-35 second keyboard to the main keyboard before starting up the main keyboard.
Yellow marking next to the multiconductor locking plug and ring on yellow wire for the secondary console.
See chapter 2 : definition of the keyboard keys.
The Basketball possession time displays (BT5006) give the playing time for other sports if mains power is
connected. To get rid of the BT5006 display during matches other than Basketball or Water-Polo, remove the
supply of mains power from BT5006.
4.5 Main keyboard with cable link
Connect the multiconductor locking plug on the main keyboard to the connexion box located near the score
table (black marking next to the multiconductor locking plug).
The HF main keyboard must be reloaded after each utilisation.

4.6 Option keyboard with RS232 serial link (ref.915602)
The keyboard with RS232 serial link can, via a computer, to display different game informations (score,
timer...) on a display different than a BT5000 scoreboard (ex : giant screen, monitor, video projector...).
Nota : it is possible to use 2 display types in the same time : a BT5000 scoreboard and an annex display
using RS232 serial cable.
The installation of a serial link keyboard (ref.915602) with BT5000 scoreboard is the same than a standard
keyboard (ref.915601).
Connect RS232 serial cable to the keyboard on the output affected
and to the computer on COM.
Do the connection of the annex display to the computer (see the using instructions of your annex display
equipment for more details).

5) Scoreboards
There is 2 models of scoreboards: BT5011 and BT5012.
– The BT5012 is a version identical to the BT5012 but with 3 numbers for each team allowing to displaydurations (time’s penalty).
– The BT5011 has only one number for display number of sets, multiple fouls.
The Club scoreboards BT5001 and BT5010 have not display of period number of currents play.
This display is made on the main keyboard when the possession time 24-35 sec. system is not connected.
Only the BT5011 and BT5012 are modular and extensible to become :
– a BT5112 (complete scoredoard),
– a BT5212 (with personal fouls, basket ball or water polo),
– a BT5312 (complete scoreboard with personal fouls).
– a BT5412 (special scoreboard Ice Hockey).
– a BT5512 (special scoreboard Water-Polo).

7) Test programme
A test program enables the correct functioning of the scoreboards and keyboards to be checked.
To run this program :
– start up the keyboard,
– put the board in mode hour,
– Press key during 5 sec.
The test of panel and keyboard starts.
N.B.: It is possible to go out of the program test at any time by pressing prolonged on the key .
�The sequence is as follows :
A) Scoreboard test
– Display on the scoreboard of the configuration of dips of the main scoreboard card.
– On the timer (ex : shows dip 1 position 1, dips 2, 3, 4 position 0) and of modem no. On the localscores (ex : ).
– 1 horn’s ring brief and display of the EPROM’s date on the timer (day month) and on the visitor’s score,the year .
– Display on local score of the number of EPROM’s version (ex : ).
– Test of all the display unit of the scoreboard segment by segment then erasing of all the display unitssegment by segment.
– During the display unit test of the scoreboard, test of the VDU of keyboard and test of the keys (see B).
B) Keyboards test
– From the starting of the program test, the VDU of each keyboard shows :

8) Glossary
�Rest time
Timed or not period in automatic between 2 game periods.
The rest time is parametrable from 1 to 99 minutes.
The automatic countdown can be stopped at any time by holding down the “ START/STOP ” key.
Before the end of the automatic countdown, a short warning blast of 1 second can be programmed (0 to 99
seconds before the end of the rest time’s countdown).
At the end of rest time’s countdown, a short warning blast of 1 second announced the rest time’s end.
The timer position itself then for the starting up of the nest period’s game.
The operator must press the “ START/STOP ” key to restart the match.
To not disturb the spectators and the players at the end of the playing time, the automatic rest time is
counted down from the end of the end priod’s horn but the scoreboard’s display is not effective before a
temporizing of 10 seconds (the real rest time is correctly counted down).
The rest time is only available in countdown.
The rest time display is always dispayed instead of the timer (Yellow numbers at the top of the scoreboard).
�Penality time
The penalties time are affected on the main keyboard according to the practiced sport (see chapter of the
corresponding sport).
The countdown is linked to the timer (stop of the penalties if the timer is stopped and deferment penalities
times from a game period to another).
�Playing time
For some sports, it is possible to display the the holding concurrently duration of the playing time.
(Badminton, Table tennis, Squash).
�Timer
All timers are available in counting or countdown.
To change form a mode to another, press before the starting up of the match the key.
The arrow � or � shown near the timer on the VDU keyboard precises the selected mode.
The timer value is modifiable with the key or in the parametrable menu per sport.
The timer stopped is signaled on the scoreboard (red block) and on the keyboard’s VDU (black block).

�Check the diodes at the back of the keyboard
and on the scoreboard as follows :
green : modem energized
yellow : the keyboard emits
red : transmission problem
(e.g. poor frequency or interferences)
yellow : good radio reception
When the radio communication is set up (the
blocks are displayed) press the key.
Bad communication between the keyboard and the
scoreboard.
�Check the blinking of the orange leds between
the keyboard (at the back) and on the HF modem
of the scoreboard. Shift the HF keyboard of some
meters to avoid the interferences. Good
communication visualizable with the leds flashing
on the HF modem and under the main keyboard.
