ATTRACT:
• Leverage the Search Engines – Use online tools to find out what people want to know.
• Connect to Your Existing Network – Most social media sites have ways to upload existing contacts to add as connections.
• Reach Out to New People – The in-‐site search forms on each social media site are powerful. Sort by people, companies, keywords within posts, and more. Find people to connect with and start a conversation.
ENGAGE:
• Use Karen’s 90/10 Rule – 90% of what you post should be non-‐marketing to build trust. See my free 50 Ideas report on my website for prompts. Share articles, inspiration, how-‐tos, resources, and what you are working on.
• Post in ways you would share/network in real life (“Would I say/share this to people in person?”)
• Use Karen’s Social Media CPR Strategy to Spend 15 Minutes a Day on Social Media
- C = Comment on 3-‐5 other people or businesses’ posts – add to the conversations!
- P = Post consistently to your favorite sites. Useful, relevant, mostly non-‐marketing items.
- R = Reply to posts or comments directed to you. Aim to be the last person to comment!
ENROLL:
Be sure your social media network can easily contact you, subscribe to your email list, or visit your website for more information. When you post a promotional message (10% of the time, ideally) include a call to action – make it easy for them to do business with you, or refer you to others. As soon as possible take your online connection offline! At first this may start with a simple private message or “chat” while you are both online. It can graduate to exchanging email addresses or phone numbers, or inviting them to an event.
