Garmisch DES
Vehicle Registration Transition
Vehicle registration is expected to transition from LRC to the DES effective 11 July 2018. The new location for the office will be in Bldg 203, Rm 103. The phone number will be 440-3727 and email at [email protected]
The same steps to conduct all types of transactions will not change, just the agency performing those duties will change.
The office will remain open on Wednesdays every week from 0800-1630. In the event that is a U.S. holiday the day will change and a notification will be published. The biggest change is that there will be no appointments for any other days of the week so planning for transactions is crucial. Because of this the hours were extended from 1200-1300 and 1515 to 1630.
Bear in mind that if a customs form is needed from the customs office at the PMO they are only open from 1000-1200 Thursdays and Fridays and vehicle registration will only be open on Wednesdays. Any customs forms needed for vehicle registration transactions will need to be obtained before arriving to conduct those transactions.
If there are any questions about what is needed to perform a transaction, there is a flow chart and checklists for various transactions on the USAG Bavaria Vehicle Registration homepage.
