Why Export?

• Over 70% of the world’s purchasing power and 96% of the world’s population is outside the US– Companies who aren’t exporting are just reaching a

small segment of potential clients

• Exporting enables companies to diversify portfolios so they can weather changes in the marketplace

Why Export?

• Ohio was the 7th largest export total of all 50 states in 2008.

• Ohio is the only state to have exports increase over the past 11 years.

Why Export?

• A total of 11,371 companies exported from Ohio locations in 2006. Of these, 88 percent (10,024 firms) were small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), with fewer than 500 employees.

• The International Trade Administration has estimated that 317,700 jobs in Ohio are related to exports.
