INSTRUCTOR

RAJIV KADAM

Rajiv Kadam is an Associate Professor with the Faculty of Architecture, CEPT Universtiy. He has both the diploma in Architecture in 1988 and post graduate diploma in Urban Design in 1991 from CEPT University and is engaged in teaching Urban Design Studios, a seminar course in Humanizing Cities, Urban Design Theory and guiding thesis students in architecture and urban design. His major emphasis and interest is to

develop an in depth understanding of nature, human aspects and urban ecology as the basis to design of built environment. He has written on small town urbanism, urban transformations, humanizing cities and has prepared documentary films on urban life with students in urban design. Professionally he worked with firms in Ahmedabad and practicing on projects like hospitals, institutions, housing, residences and interior projects. He has participated in national and international architecture and urban design competitions. As a faculty he has worked on urban projects under the CEPT Research & Development Foundation (CRDF) in lake development projects, slum redevelopment, old city revitalization, redevelopment of religious precincts, and road development projects. He presented a joint paper on ‘Revitalization strategy for old city of Jaipur’ at CSAAR 2008 international conference in Jordan. Besides teaching he is interested in documentation of nature, architecture, city and urban life giving importance to experience as a means for learning.
