MBA in URBAN MANAGEMENT and GOVERNANCE (MBA-UMG)The MBA-UMG is a new 2-year, full-time residential Program to prepare professionals with the knowledge and skills to develop and run sustainable and adaptive cities and city systems. It brings together the relevant knowledge, techniques and tools from the fields of Management, Urban and Regional Planning, Policy and Governance. The curriculum is designed to meet the specific management expertise required by agencies involved in the financing, development and management of cities, towns and rapidly urbanizing peripheries.

Integrated Ph.D in URBAN MANAGEMENT and GOVERNANCE (MBA-UMG & Ph.D)The Integrated Ph.D. in UMG offers the academically-inclined candidates an opportunity to earn a dual degree - MBA-UMG (Stage 1) and Ph.D (Stage 2). The Ph.D. Program prepares scholars for careers in research, consulting and academia. Integrated Ph.D candidates may have an option to exit the Program after Stage 1 with a MBA-UMG degree if they meet the qualifying requirements. Candidates maintaining a CQPI of 7 on a 10-point scale, and submitting an acceptable proposal for research, will be admitted into the Ph.D Program. XUB retains the right to withdraw the offer of direct admission to the Ph.D. if the academic performance of the candidate does not meet the required standard.

Eligibility conditions and application procedures are the same as for the MBA-UMG. Please submit an extended SOP including your reasons for doing a Ph.D.

Fees and other charges in the first two years are the same as for the MBA-UMG Program. Costs for the Ph.D. Program will be as set for that Program in the year of their admittance.

Ph.D in URBAN MANAGEMENT and GOVERNANCE (Ph.D-UMG)Academically outstanding candidates with at least 5 years of relevant work experience after graduation from a professional program (architecture, engineering, law, medicine, etc.) or a Master's degree in any discipline, are eligible for direct admission into the Ph.D. (UMG) Program. Program Structure (for more info visit https://sites.google.com/a/xub.edu.in/umg/)The MBA-UMG comprises5 terms in two years, and combines Management and Urban understanding and skills. The Curriculum has 85 credits of classroom instruction and other credit components including the Urban Studio Project, Field Practicuum, Colloquium In Urban Management, Internship Program and an extended final-term Independent Research Project.

The Ph.D-UMG comprises completion of required course work, and an original thesis. Courses include Fundamentals and Advances in Urban Management, Philosophies and Methodologies of Research, Quantitative Methods, Qualitative Methods, Research Writing and Publishing and a Teaching Lab.

FacultyThe UMG Programs draw on the 90 core faculty of six Schools of Xavier University as well as a pool of another 100 Adjunct, Visiting and Guest Faculty. Specialized courses in Urban Planning, Management and Governance are taught by expert faculty within XUB and from across leading Schools in the domain.
