Spotlight on UB Students!
Congratulations Papa Jo Amissah for being crowned Homecoming King.
Matt and Nick Raponi are doing a great job in cross country leading the pack in many of the
races.
The varsity football team featuring; Chris
Rodriguez and Gabe Amaya, has a
solid record of 9-0. Carlos Mercado, who is part of the jv team has been asked to join the
varsity team. They are heading to the SUPER BOWL November 5. Good luck!

ATTENTION ALL STUDENTS
We are starting a new policy for stipends. Stu-dents need to sign in each day in the UB office to receive a stipend. If a student does not come in the office and sign the sheet they will not receive
any money for that day.
College of the Month– Oneonta
SUNY Oneonta is located on 250 acres centrally located between Albany and Binghamton. The College maintains a complex in nearby Coopers-town, which houses its Biological Field Station and Graduate Program in History Museum Stud-ies. The campus community has access to Col-lege Camp, for educational, recreational, and so-cial opportunities. It is approximately a mile from campus, located on 284 acres of former farm and woodland.
Founded in 1889, the College at Oneonta be-came a charter member of the State University system in 1948. Today, the College enrolls more than 5,800 students in 69 undergraduate majors and fourteen graduate programs. EVENTS
We had a very successful fundraiser October 17-19 in support of Domestic Violence Aware-ness. The students sold purple ribbons and
made food for the bake sale, they raised $67. NICE JOB! We also donated $14 worth of food
to the flood victims from previously raised money.
October 13 Upward Bound students attended a college fair at Fulton-Montgomery Community
College.
We had a very successful summer program. The following students received awards; Eng-
lish and History, Angela Hanke, Math, Johanna Palma, Science, Brianna Pelcher, Spanish, E. Cole Amissah, Tutor Counselor,

UPCOMING EVENTS
November 5, 2011 Scholar’s Bowl.
November 16, 2011 Cultural Thanksgiving.
After school we will have a dinner where each student is asked to bring something to share that they eat as a tradition on Thanksgiving. This provides the opportunity for students to
share and learn about different cultures.
In February we will be scheduling a Financial Aid day. On that day we will help parents with their FAFSA. More information will be coming
soon.
