This series of drawings focus on realistically portraying live subject matter through light and shadow, with a particular interest in aspects of the human body.

Left is a prismacolor drawing of All Faith’s Chapel on the Texas A&M Campus. Focus was on accurately render-ing two-point perspective while experimenting with color. Brown was not allowed for the rendering of wood, for example, which composed much of the scene.

ArchitecturalDrawings

Above are introductory architectural perspective drawings exploring the basics of one, two, and three-point perspectives. All images done on location to exercise and introduce sighting techniques

Visual Interpretation of the song “Harder, Better, Faster, Stronger” by Daft Punk. Focuses on translating the gestalt elements of rhythm, continuity, proximity, and figure ground into abstract representations of audio elements such as pitch, tone, and beats per minute.

This series involves intensive study of the fox, first in simplistic realism, then in a series of steps resulting in a graphic translation, and lastly incorporated into a larger composition in a stylized manner.

ShadowBoxThe Shadow Box project involved analysis and reinterpretation of an existing work of art into an original composition that utilized a new under-standing of relationships between technique and formal elements from the existing work in a new context.

Reinterpretation that focuses on a forced depth of field that extends beyond the physical constraints of the compositional space, as well as the creation of a strong focal point through color contrast and scale. The ent-project is formed of sanded and laser-cut basswood.

Part of a collaborative effort to portray the Seven Dwarfs of Walt Disney’s Snow White as abstract representations of their personalities. Sneezy’s design is meant to build anticipation and display exaggerated motion, similar to that of an actual sneeze.

GROUP PROJECT

Work was divided between teams consisting of two members.

Individual work included sanding and painting the base, connecting the shapes, mounting the supports, and developing the “explosion” on the right end of the composition.

The light tower for Mr. Otis focused on the nature of his grandest creation, the elevator, and its two major forms, hydraulic and pulley elevators. Green and red lighting was chosen for their complementary nature, strong contrast, and their implications on direction of movement (the red elevator is shown descending to the basement, the green, ascending to the rooftop). Strong emphasis is placed on rectilinear forms and similarity, grid-like isolation of elements, contrasting elements, and anticipation that builds following the path that leads into the tower.

GeomancyDwellingGroup Project

Work was divided between three team members to create the wooden dwelling shown on the right.

Individual work included designing, sanding, and assembling the dwelling.

The dwelling shown is intended to exhibit strong Gestalt principles such as proximity, similarity, and continuation. In addition, the dwelling is intended to mesh well with the environment, taking advantage of natural elements such as wind and sunlight to al-low the dwelling to function as a personal, social, and spiritual gathering place.

SteampunkMachineThe steampunk machine is a continuation of the dwelling project in which tribal members develop machines to facilitate tasks as their technology advances. The “Rainmaker” gathers water from the river below and flies up the cliff faces to water the crops on their surface. The design of the machine is meant to portray steampunk-style elements, as well as principles of Gestalt theory such as continuation and similarity.

FashionShowGroup Collaborative ProjectWork was divided among three team members. Collaboration between architecture and 2D animation produced a final project not unlike an exquisite corpse.

Individual work included structuring and programming the animation in its entirety based on the group’s word: systemizing.

wearablearchitecture

The project is intended to tie audio, visual, and live physical interpretations of the given word in a way that fully realizes and expresses the qualities and emotion inherent in the word.

The purpose of the catamaran challenge is to design a model sailboat completely using curves, with varying restrictions on the types of curves allowed for specific portions of the model. This sailboat is designed to those restrictions everywhere from the hull to its netting and sails.

The cyborg project requires one to design a head that is either internally organic and externally mechanical or vice versa. The cyborg shown here is formed by stretching human skin over its mechanical infrastructure to give it the ghastly appearance of something eerily human.

SelfPortraitThis self portrait is completely vector layers. Though the original project began as more of a graphic representation, it evolved into the more complex version seen here, and became a study of the human face, light, and shadow.
