General Information● Scholarships
On the basis of the examination conducted,1000 scholarships will be awarded for studentsappearing for Class VIII examinations.Awardees of NTS Examination will receive asum of Rs. 500/- per month as per NTS rules.
● Reservation150 scholarships will be reserved for studentsbelonging to the SC category and 75 scholar-ships for students belonging to the STcategory in respect of the class VIIIexamination.
● SelectionThere will be two-stage selection process foraward of scholarship. For Stage-I, selectionwill be done by States/UTs through a writtenexamination. Students who qualify Stage Iwill be eligible to appear for Stage-IIexamination conducted by NCERT.
● EligibilityStudents of Class VIII studying in recognizedschools are eligible to appear for the ClassVIII Stage I examination conducted by theStates/UTs in which the schools are located.There will be no domicile restriction.
● ExaminationThe pattern of written examination for ClassVIII will be as under—* Stage–I : Examination at the State/UT
level will comprise two parts, namely (a)General Mental Ability Test (GMAT) and(b) Scholastic Aptitude Test (SAT) cover-ing Social Studies (History, Geographyand Civics), Science (Physics, Chemistryand Biology) and Mathematics.
* Stage–II : Examination at the Nationallevel will comprise (a) General MentalAbility Test (GMAT), (b) ScholasticAptitude Test (SAT) covering SocialStudies (History, Geography and Civics),Science (Physics, Chemistry and Biology)and Mathematics, (c) Interview. Onlythose candidates who qualify the writtenexamination at the National Level will beinvited for interview.
● State QuotasBased on provisional All India EducationalSurvey (AIES) data on enrollment of studentsin Class VIII, State/Union Territory quotasare fixed for qualification to appear for theStage-II examination. Within the State Quotasthere will be 15% reservation for ScheduledCaste candidates and 7.5% reservation forScheduled Tribe candidates. There will be noState/Union Territory Quotas for the finalaward of scholarship after the Stage-IIexamination. Reservation will be as notifiedin para 2 above.
● Application FormsApplication Forms may be downloaded fromNCERT’s website www.ncert.nic.in. Allcorrespondence relating to Application Formsshould be addressed to the State LiasonOfficers (LOs) whose addresses are given inthe advertisement.
LOs of the respective States/Union Territorieswill notify the last date for submission ofapplication forms. The completed applicationform duly signed by Principal of the schoolshould be submitted to the LO before the lastdate.
● FeesStates and Union Territories may notify thefee required to be paid for Stage-Iexamination. However, NCERT does notcharge any fee for the Stage-II examination.
● Announcement of ResultsResults of the Stage-I examination will beannounced by the respective State Govern-ments/Union Territories. Results of Stage-IIexamination will be announced by NCERT.Indian Students Studying Abroad can appeardirectly for Stage-II NTS Examination underconditions prescribed in the NTS brochure forclass VIII which is available on the NCERTwebsite. Candidates may fill up relevant itemsof the Application Form available on theNCERT website and send to the undersignedalong with a photocopy of the mark sheet ofprevious examination.
