DfE Notes on Adopted from CareDfE has provided the following notes on Adopted from Care

1. This data item will identify those children on roll on census day who were looked after immediately before adoption, being placed on a special guardianship or residence order.

2. It will be up to those who have parental responsibility (adoptive parents, special guardians and carers of former looked after children on residence orders) to decide if they wish schools to know whether such children have been adopted, or are under a special guardianship order or a residence order. This data item will be collected termly and applied to all pupils in all phases/types of school within the scope of the School Census.

A number of filters have been provided to help schools identifier pupils who have

been adopted from care, but the filter on Ever in Care is

likely to be the most helpful.

Page 9: Update Adopted from Care

In this case there are seven pupils with Ever in Care, but we don’t have

to accept all of them.

Page 11: Update Adopted from Care

Click and Shift Click can be used to select

contiguous pupils.

Page 12: Update Adopted from Care

Control Click can be used to add pupils to the select or, as in this case,

to remove pupils from the selection.

Page 13: Update Adopted from Care

We can Click Add to add the selected pupils to

the top up funding list. We can do this multiple times and with different

filters in place

Page 14: Update Adopted from Care

We now have a list of pupils to work on, but we

don’t have to give the same reason for ceasing to be looked after for all

of them

Page 15: Update Adopted from Care

We can Click to select a reason for an individual

pupil ceasing to be looked after

I’ve magnified the list or reasons so they are easy to see in this presentation

We can also use Click and Shift Click to select a

contiguous group for entry of the same reason

Once we are happy with the reason for

each pupil on the list, we can Click Update to

save the information

Page 25: Update Adopted from Care

If we close down at this point we can see how the information can be viewed and modified at

a future point.

Once we have the same filter in place, we see the

same information as seen when we saved.
