Attention All IO-Month Faculty

Re: Monthly Insurance Payroll Deductions

You probably recall that as Faculty members you have seven months worth (January through July) of insurance payroll deductions taken from your paychecks during the first five months, January through May, each calendar year. This is often referred to as the" 71sths plan." Hopefully this is just a reminder to those of you that have been here for awhile.

For others, this is simply to alert you that your benefit payroll deduction rates will be increased during January, February, March, April and May to compensate for June and July, during which no payroll deductions are made for insurance benefits. As of August, the rates will revert back to "regular" quoted monthly insurance benefits. The result is that faculty don't pay more than other employees, it is simply deducted in a different time frame.

The following schedule outlines the amounts to be deducted for health and dental premiums January through May 2002. Please see the documents distributed to you during the recent Open Enrollment period to reference the rates for August through December 2002. (also found on: http://www.usg.eduJadmin . Ihumexlbenefitsl ). Please also note that the premiums for supplemental/dependent life, long term disability, and involuntary accidental insurance will also be pro-rated over from January through May. These rates vary considerably per person by age, annual salary rate, and the option elected individually.

January - May 2002 Insurance Rates for Faculty

Single Employee + 1 Family

Blue Cross Indemnity - Health $134.37 $ 255.14 $ 376.46

Blue Cross - Dental $ 43.10 $ 92.29 $ 92.29
