Increasing NPA's in Indian Banks

I feel great pleasure, privilege, pride and

accountability for this endeavor of publication of this inaugural issue of SCG IMT Newsletter 'Navutkarsh'. I express my gratitude and thanks to all the members who have worked hard to make this issue a success and hope this Newsletter will prove to be a milestone in the progress history of SCG IMT. I dedicate this first issue of newsletter to the founder chairman of this institute Late Shri Satyendra Chandra Guria Ji and Shri N. D. Tiwari Ji, Ex. Chief Minister, U.P. & Uttarakhand. Their vision and contribution to make Kashipur educational hub, specially in the field of professional education has been a source of great inspiration and motivation for all of us.

As it is a usual practice to review on an economic problem of the country in every newsletter, this time I am mentioning the problem of NPAs in Indian Banking. Indian economy is the fastest growing economy of the world. Our G.D.P. rate is 7.6% which is the highest in the world. We have world's biggest market with demand orientation. Majority of our population is young which makes India a 'Pride', yet we have a lot of problems. Recently, India has been witnessing a very serious problem i.e. increasing NPA's (Non Performing Assets). This problem is chronic in public sector banks specially for big wilfull defaulters. The outstanding amount of loan for this segment has increased seven times in this decade. This has drastically impacted our national exchequer. The Supreme Court of the country has drawn the attention of R.B.I. (Regulatory body) and policy makers for corrective actions in this regard and has emphasized to list the name of wilfull defaulters but the 'Assocham' (The Associated Chambers of Commerce and Industry of India) has opposed this step, saying it will jeopardize the industrial environment in the country. We are hoping a rightful and amicable solution very soon.

Dear readers

It is indeed a great honour to be Editor of

inaugural issue of our Newsletter . In this

issue we will focus on various activities of SC Guria

IMT.

As we all know newsletter reflects an institute's

vision and mission. It also highlights an institute's

achievements, events and activities. Our newsletter

signifies new beginning, brightness and

direction. It very aptly sums up the new prospects of

our Institute. We have faculty that consists of bright

minds and students who are keen to leave a mark, our

future is in safe hands indeed. Our first issue of

newsletter highlights the activities of our institute's

held during the past one year. It also features visits by

eminent scholars and dignitaries from various fields.

Every year, we have been achieving new heights in

placements. The intent of is to

disseminate information about our Institute, and we

hope that the readers will find the issues informative

and useful.

We are thankful to the faculty and staff of SC

Guria IMT for their valuable inputs and we welcome

suggestions and feedback that will help us improve

Industrial Visit

Workshop on Cloud Computing

Workshop by I.I.S.S.

We regularly organize industrial visit for our students to understand the complexities faced by the organizations in various stages. On 12 April 2016 BBA IV and VI Semester students visited Varun Beverages (Pepsi bottling plant) Bazpur. Industrial visits provide an excellent opportunity to the students. They also get to know about the intra and interdepartmental linkages and understand behavioral aspects within an organization. The motive is to provide the students with a right blend of theoretical learning and an opportunity to witness how those concepts are utilized in the practical scenario.

A workshop on Cloud Computing for BCA students was organized on 19 September 2015 by Dr. Mayank Agarwal, Dean Computer Deptt., Gurukul Kangri University, Haridwar and Cloud Advisor of IBM.

A workshop was conducted by I.I.S.S.(P) Ltd., Delhi on Project Development in Java, C++, Android Technology at Institute premises on 1 December 2015.

Every year we are marching ahead on the way of placements. Our students are recruited and selected in various organizations off the campus and on the campus. It is really a matter of pride that our students have been placed even before their final examination. We wish in coming future IMTians will carry the institution's flag in many more companies.

?On 10/9/2015 off campus placement of two students of MBA final year Sharad Singh in Express logistics and Jitendra Pal Singh in packaging company HPPL, New Delhi.

?On 16/9/15 Vipul Rana and Neeraj Singh Bohra of MBA Final year were placed in Hindustan times, New Delhi.

?On 3/12/2014 five students of MBA Sangeet Panday, Gurpreet Kaur, Priyanshi Saxena, Shipra Goel, Neetu Singh and one students of BCA Pooja Bhatnagar got placed in Tanishq, Kashipur.

Corp Skills from Delhi, associated with us in 2015 and this opened up more avenues for placement of our students. In 2015, five students were placed in Genpact through Corp Skills.

This year Corp Skills conducted interviews on 11/06/16 after MBA's final exams and selected 15 students for placement in various companies in Delhi/NCR.

Celebration of 10 Glorious Year &Foundation Stone of LL.B. Course

Hon'ble Shri Yashpal Arya, Cabinet Minister, Government of Uttarakhand was chief guest on the celebration of 10 glorious years of the Institute, Inauguration of 1st session of LL.B. course & foundation stone ceremony of new LL.B. building.

On this occasion he remembered and praised Late Shri Satyendra Chandra Ji Guria, Ex. M.P. and founder chairman of the institute for his great contribution towards society especially in the field of education.

Mr. Arya announced a grant of Rs. 10 Lacks for the construction of new LL.B. building from MLA's development fund (Vidhayak Nidhi).

Anniversary of founder chairman Late Shri. Satyendra Chandra Guria Ji on 13th December 2015. On this occasion Kumaun University Nainital organized Late Shri Nandan Singh Bhandari Memorial Inter-Collegiate Yoga Competition in SC Guria IMT premises. Prof. H. S. Dhami, Vice Chancellor, Kumaun University, Nainital inaugurated this competition.

Inter Collegiate Volleyball Tournament of Kumaun University, Nainital was organized in SC Guria IMT campus on 12-13 Oct. 2015. It was then inaugurated by Chief Guest, Smt. Vimla Guria, Chairman, SC Guria IMT and Guest of Honor Dr. Nagendra Sharma, Sports Officer, Kumaun University, Nainital.

16 teams of various degree colleges and professional institutes participated in two days tournament.

BBA IIIrd sem. student, Akash Yadav participated in 14th Junior Bushu Championship held in Surendra Nagar, Distt. Mandi, Himachal Pradesh on 4-9 Oct. 2015. Akash was rewarded for his excellent performance in 56 kg. weight category.

SC Guria IMT participated in Agnitraya 2015 organized by IIM, Kashipur from 23-25 Jan. 2016. Our teams really did wonders :

Cricket - WinnerFutsal - WinnerBadminton - Runner-up

SC Guria IMT defeated Flexituff International, Kashipur by four wickets in a friendly match on 31 Jan. 2016.

Two faculty and two staff members won 10 Gold and 2 Silver Medals in Master's Athletic Tournament organized by Uttarakhand Veterans Athletics Association on 14th Feb. 2016 and qualified for National Event.

On 19 march 2016, a cricket match 'Sadbhavana' organized between SCG IMT and Global Institute of Pharmaceutical Education and Research, Jaspur. IMT won this match by 5 wickets.

Satyam Sharma, BBA II Semester made all of us proud after winning gold medal in arm wrestling competition held on 18-19 March , Dehradun. Well done, Satyam.

Legal Aid ClinicSC Guria Law College is trying to do best in

all fields and this is one step in the same direction. In this regard the college has decided free legal aid clinic to all the aggrieved persons as per the instruction of Bar Council of India (BCI). The college has selected three Gram Panchayats and established a free legal aid letter box.

Examination @ SCG IMT?SC Guria IMT was Nodal Centre of Uttarakhand Technical University, Dehradun for Odd Semester Examination from December 2015 - January 20 16. The MBA students of SIMT, Kashipur & B. Pharma students of Global Institute, Jaspur appeared in this examination.

?SC Guria IMT conducted its LL.B. Ist Semester Examination successfully. Kumaun University's observer appreciated the college administration for their quality management.

?SC Guria IMT was Examination Centre of Kumaun University B.Ed. Examination. Total 190 students of Kashipur College of Education and Shri Ram Institute of Management & Technology Kashipur appeared in this examination.

?SC Guria IMT successfully conducted various competitive examination of Uttarakhand State Government's Group C examination.

Sports Week (20-24 April 2016)

Cross County Marathon

Five days sports week was organized during 20-24 April 2016. The Sports week programme was inaugurated by the Chief Guest Shri Vijendra Chaudhary, President Uttarakhand Athletics Association, Guest of Honor Shri Vijay Chaudhary Retd. Police Officer, Uttarakhand Police and Smt. Vimla Guria, Chairman SC Guria IMT, Kashipur with traditional lamp lighting ceremony followed by saraswati Vandana. Several sports competitions were organized including badminton, basket ball, cricket, table tennis, throw ball, athletics. Students participated in this event with great zeal and enthusiasm. All the teams performed very well in this tournament and won various prizes and medals.

A Cross county marathon was also organized on 24th April 2016 under the guidance and supervision of Mr. Vijendra Chaudhary. This marathon was conceived with the vision and foresight of Late Shri S C Guria ji to promote health and fitness awareness. More than 100 students participated from various schools & colleges.

Prof. (Dr.) S. D. Sharma, Dean Deptt. of Law, Kumaun University, Nainital delivered a guest lecture on "Pardoning Power of President and Governors" to LLB students on 29 January 2016. During this lecture students of LLB class and faculty members were present and enhanced their knowledge through this lecture. Prof. Sharma also explained the techniques for cracking the civil services examination along with subject of Law.

A Guest lecture on “Startup” was delivered by Mr. Lakshya Dutta, CEO Launchora on 24 February 2016. He delivered a motivational and inspiring lecture to future managers. Mr. Dutta encouraged our students to start new ventures in spite of doing job for another person. This event was held on the lines of promoting entrepreneurial spirit. Students actively participated and keenly listened in this session. Mr. Dutta shared this experiences, efforts, dreams and lessons learnt from life throughout his journey of becoming an entrepreneur.

On 29 February 2016 Interview Air organized a video profiling competition in which four students of our institute Manisha Agarwal, Sanjeevani Sachdeva, Sakshi Sharma, Tanya Saxena got I, II & III prizes respectively. Winners also got tickets of T- 20 World cup match.

Friendly Cricket Match

Canvas 2015, the annual college fest of Department of Management Studies, Bhimtal, Kumaun University, Nainital was organized from 21-23 Nov. 2015. Students of SC Guria IMT participated in various cultural and sports activities and displayed excellent performance. They won many prizes and awards. This is one of the most awaited fest in Kumaun region of Uttarakhand.

A friendly cricket match with Star Cricket Club, Kashipur was organized on 30th Nov. 2015 at SC Guria IMT play ground. Team SC Guria IMT won this match by 10 wickets.

Ms. Akshita and Mr. Bhupendra Singh were the winners of farewell contest in BBA 6th Semester Ms. Akshita is one the all-rounder student of BBA 6th Semester and Mr. Bhupendra Singh is a good player of Volleyball.

Ms. Sakshi Sharma and Mr. Mehul Sharma were the winners of farewell contest in BCA 6th Semester. Ms. Sakshi is brillant student and got placed in Academic center of Wipro Technology Limited. Mr. Mehul Sharma is an active student who organizes various programes.

We regularly organize cultural activities. This rejuvenates and motivates our students to work & study with new enthusiasm and energy. These activities lead to overall personality development of the students. Activities at a glance :

Students organized a farewell party for final year students on 14 May 2015 at SCGIMT Campus. Final year students expressed their views about the management, faculty members and students of SC Guria IMT. In addition to this all the students were very enthusiastic while sharing what they learned about and how they groomed their personality during their course. This programme began with traditional lamp lightening by Chairman Smt. Vimla Guria & Mrs. Deepika Guria Atray (Vice Principal Chandrawati Tiwari Girls Degree College, Kashipur) and Saraswati Vandana. This was followed by various cultural activities and Mr. and Ms. FAREWELL 2016 contest from BCA, BBA and MBA discipline.
