  • The Opportunity:Mortgage and protection adviser vacancies with Mortgage Advice Bureau, based in Leeds or Reading

Mortgage Advice Bureau is the UKs largest independent mortgage broker and network, with over 600 advisers nationwide, based in estate agents, mortgage shops, and regional telephone advice centres. We are seeking candidates who will make successful mortgage and protection advisers (once fully trained), who will be building and maintaining long term relationships with new and existing customers.

Multi-awarding winning Mortgage Advice Bureau has developed the MAB Academy to select, train and support new advisers on a fulfilling career in mortgage broking during the most exciting phase our industry has seen for many years. MAB has grown in size and stature over the last few years and is fully committed to developing the next generation of successful Mortgage & Protection Advisers through the Academy.

Leading UK mortgage broker, seeking new talent

  • The roleBased in one of our larger and most successful partner businesses, you will be responsible for delivering a first class experience to new and existing customers who wish to arrange a mortgage with Mortgage Advice Bureau (MAB).

The role will involve working closely with your Estate Agent introducers to identify opportunities, provide mortgage advice and recommendation and secure sales to their clients, whether they are buying or selling houses.

This will include, prospecting, completing a fact find, understanding the clients needs, and making mortgage or protection sales that meet their requirements.

We will start your journey with us by providing a good understanding of our business; how we work, what our culture is and how we deal with our customers. You will receive a great insight into this exciting business at a time when the mortgage market has never been in better shape.

We will invest a lot of time, energy and resource into helping you to become a successful adviser within 3-4 months, and in fact we expect candidates to be advising customers in some product areas within two months of joining.

You will be based in one of our larger businesses nationwide, servicing customers locally. Current vacancies are in Reading & Leeds.

During the 3-4 month training period you will undergo a full structured training programme on all elements of the role supported by both your home business as well as the MAB team at our Derby Head Office.

Starting salary for the role (in training) will be a basic of 15,000-18,000, depending on skills and experience. When fully qualified and selling full timea commission structure will be added to base salary with on target earnings being 40,000.

We will support you in your preparation to successfully complete the professional qualifications you will require as CeMAP 1, 2, and 3 will need to be attained to become a fully qualified mortgage and protection adviser.

Working hours will typically be 38 hours per week, however, since our focus is on our clients, we need to maintain a flexible working pattern between the hours of 9am-8pm, Monday to Friday, including weekends on a rota basis.

  • What are we looking for?

Successful mortgage advisers require a number of skills, the most important of which are communication, listening and rapport building. Taking a genuine interest in your clients, and getting to the heart of what is important to them, identifying needs and then providing solutions is what the role as an adviser is all about.

We will equip you with the knowledge, the systems, processes, and technology to provide an outstanding customer experience at all times. Other key traits we are looking for include confidence in yourself, an ambition to be successful, and the desire to always improve your skills, knowledge and earning capability.

You will be a natural sales person, with a persuasive nature and the ability to sell an idea, a concept or a product.

To succeed as an adviser you need to be passionate about your job and the hugely valuable service you provide, and this needs to come across clearly to your customers.

You will need to motivate yourself to manage your own workload, often juggling several tasks and cases simultaneously. This will require good planning, organisational and time management skills to ensure tasks are completed within the allocated timeframe. You will also need to enjoy being part of a team, and contributing to its success as well as your own.
