The Plot (1)The Plot (1)

Wayl Saccen lives his quiet and orderly life in Buròticron, a technological advanced world, in which all citizens are happy with their predetermined roles .

Saccen is an employee at the Useless Affairs Ministry: he has no doubts about his pre-ordered life till something unusual happens to him.

Mr Saccen has a very difficult task to perform: he has to prepare the "MasMal“ file but he is hindered by his subordinate Mr Scuycich, who is obsessively tidy.

In the Ministries of Buròticron, order is deleterious: everything is pre-orderd and has to be submitted to a specific request.

The Plot (2)The Plot (2)

Saccen makes his first error and therefore all his world collapses: Miss Raccom takes away the "MasMal" file from him, and he is demoted by his boss Gigantus.

A series of negative events happens to him: Wayl opens too much his heart to his friend Gorge; he fails the correct procedure for the request of the pink module for a murder; he sees his childhood friend Gonam, who is considered socially dangereous.

He is kidnapped by a secret society, and is taken to a centre for the removal of the memory. At the beginning he rebels against this operation but in the end he accepts by asking to become “a person who matters”.

He becomes an executioner!

It seems that in a technologically advanced society the human being has to stop living, thinking, reading autonoumsly.

People limit themeselves to those reactions programmed by the system. Only if a citizen accepts to work as decided by the system, he can obtain economical benefits, career prospects and become an idol acclaimed by the crowd.

The work relations absorb completely the thoughts of the individuals, who have no time and occasions to think about their existence and moral values, to cultivate friehdship or love.

The relations among people are dominated by personal interests, coolness, egoism and hypocrisy.

This book presses the reader to ask himself fundamental questions like: ◦Are we really free?◦To which extent our actions, our choices are

determined by the social behaviour models imposed by a small minority, which holds the social, economical, political and technological power?

◦Are there any models of social organisation in which efficiency and a successful progress of society can be combined with the freedom of the citizens?
