from the carousel, walk to the Arrivals lounge after clearing customs. You will be met by your Professional Guide Russell Gammon , transfer to the Roseate House. Unlikely juxtapositions of the old and new are seen everywhere in Delhi – bullock-carts and cars; hand-pulled trolleys and trucks; swanky burger joints and roadside golgappa ‘watery Indian bread’ carts; buses and rickshaws; suits and traditional Indian wear. Delhi is said to have been destroyed and rebuilt seven times during the reign of different royal dynasties, hence the legend of the “seven cities of Delhi.” Modern archeological evidence show settlements in the region dating back to 1000 BC. Apart from Indraprastha, these included Quila Rai Pithora, Siri, Jahanpanah, Tughlakabad, Ferozabad and Shahjahanabad. Much like its hybrid culture, Delhi’s architecture is a fascinating mix of Indo-Saracenic monuments and a new urban metropolis. Its historic heart, Old Delhi, is a dense network of narrow alleys and tightly packed markets and houses while New Delhi conceptualized by the British architect Sir Edwin Lutyens and designed by Hebert Baker is symmetrical, lined with rows of trees, wide roads and grand colonial buildings. Then there is the “globalized” Delhi of glass-cased corporate offices, shopping malls, brands and dizzying traffic. Also known as ‘Dilli’ by the locals, the smells, sights and sounds of this city sweep your senses, disorienting and fascinating you at the same time. Gateway to the rest of India, Delhi is a truly cosmopolitan city and set to leave a lasting impression on every visitor.

Roseate House Hotel is located in the Aerocity district in Delhi, 1 km from the Indira Gandhi Airport. The hotel has a seasonal outdoor pool and spa centre, and guests can enjoy a drink at the bar. Free WiFi is provided and free private parking is available on site.

Every room at this hotel is air conditioned and comes with a flat-screen TV. Each room has a private bathroom fitted with a bath and shower. Extras include bath robes and free toiletries. There is a 24-hour front desk, a shared lounge and hairdresser’s at the property.

Bandhavgarh National was established in 1968 as a National Park, and is spread over an area of 1150 sq. kms. This national park was declared as a tiger reserve under Project Tiger in the year 1993. It is predominantly covered with vegetation like SAL, SALI, DHOBIN and has vast stretches of grasslands spread over 32 hills, the region though smaller than other wildlife parks has one of the highest density of tigers in the world. Bandhavgarh was earlier the hunting reserve of the Maharajas of Rewa, the region was a major hunting ground of animals where Maharaja Raman Singh himself shot a stupendous figure of 111 tigers by 1914. Bandhavgarh national park also became world renowned for its population of rare white tigers. Overnight Kings Lodge

Day 5 Banhavgarh/ Kanha ( 222 km’s 5 – 6 Hours) Kanha Earth Lodge Three nights Bungalow BLD

Breakfast at leisure . Village homestead and school visit - After early lunch drive to Kanha. Kanha Earth Lodge lies in 16 acres of natural forest, tucked away in a small hamlet bordering Kanha’s buffer zone. Its unique location, 30 minutes from the Khatia/Kisli park gate, ensures that it is close enough for easy access to the park, but still far enough from the glut of hotels lining Kanha’s tourist hub to offer guests a true wilderness experience. Our guests benefit from our incredible location, outstanding hospitality, experienced team of naturalists, and commitment towards conservation and local communities. The 12 luxury bungalows with en suite bathrooms and open verandahs have been inspired by Gond tribal architecture and offer environmentally sensitive, low-impact accommodation through their design and use of local stone and waste wood, while the absence of neighbouring lodges or highways creates an ideal setting for nature walks, birding and cycling trips through the surrounding forest. Kanha Tiger Reserve is spread over an area of 1,949 sq km (940 sq km of core area and 1,009 sq km of buffer zone), making it one of the best tiger habitats in India. Situated in the Central Indian Highlands that are part of peninsular India’s vast tableland, the region was once covered in continuous forests that accounted for a significant part of the country’s wild habitats. Today, the Highlands are fragmented in parks such as Panna, Bandhavgarh, Kanha, Pench and Sanjay. Kanha’s hills and dense groves of vegetation constitute Sal, Bamboo, Tendu, Jamun, Arjun and Lendia. The reserve’s lifeline, however, are its grassy meadows that sustain large numbers of Chital, Sambar, Barasingha and Gaur, which in turn support its predators (tigers, leopards, wild dogs, jungle cats and foxes). Kanha’s greatest achievement has been the preservation of Hard Ground Swamp Deer (or Barasingha) from near extinction (they numbered just 66 in 1970). Today, they number more than 400 and are the only surviving population of Barasingha in the wild. Overnight Kanha Earth Lodge

Packed breakfast will be served inside the park. Return to Lodge around 1130 Am. After lunch leave for an afternoon game drive at 0230 Pm. During your stay in Kanha you will also get to see the corridor Forest that connected the park to Pench National Park part of the vital Satpura – Maikal landscape. This is classified as a global – priority Tiger Conservation Landscape( TLC) due to its potential for providing sufficient havitat that will allowthe long term survival of tigers. Wildlife scientists have found that the tigers in the Satpura-Maikal landscape have high genetic variation and very low genetic subdivision so the chances of their long term survival is brighter in this region if the forest corridors are intact and providing route for tigers to disperse. The other tiger habitats in Indai are fast becoming islands and there is little change to genetic pool of the tiger population. You will also get to learn about work been done by conservation organizations like TOFTigers to save this critical landscape. Overnight Kanha Earth Lodge

Day 14 (Day use room booked till departure)

After breakfast at the hotel, take a half day tour of New Delhi visiting the 16th century garden Tomb of Humayuns and driving past the President House, India Gate and government buildings. Our last stop will be Gandhi Smriti a memorial to Mahatma Gandhi. Humyun’s Tomb: Humayun’s tomb is sublimely well proportioned, seeming to float above its symmetrical gardens. It's thought to have inspired the Taj Mahal, which it predates by 60 years. Its style is a delightful amalgamation of the Persian, Turkish and Indian architectural influences. Constructed for the Mughal emperor in the mid-16th century by Haji Begum, his Persian-born wife, the tomb marries Persian and Mughal elements, with restrained decoration enhancing the architecture. The arched facade is inlaid with bands of white marble and red sandstone, and the building follows strict rules of Islamic geometry, with an emphasis on the number eight. Gandhi Smriti - This is the house where Gandhi spent his last 144 days. The exhibits include rooms preserved just as Gandhi left them, a detailed account of his life and last 24 hours, and vivid miniature dioramas depicting scenes from his life. Afternoon will be at leisure Later transfer to the International Airport on time to board flight for onward destination. (Reporting time is at least 3 hours prior to flight departure time) Russell Gammon will see you off to the Airport.

WEATHER Mostly hot, dry and sunny. Early morning and evening game drives in open-topped jeeps can be cold (Nov to Mar). In mid March and April temperatures during the day will be in the upper thirties centigrade but Tiger sightings at this time of year are excellent. This is because the vegetation dies away and the Tigers are drawn to the more limited water supply. EQUIPMENT & CLOTHING Casual clothing is the order of the day. Hard wearing, easy to wash travel clothes are ideal. We may wish to pack one set of slightly smarter clothes to wear at the hotels. Laundry service will be available at all the places we stay. Early morning can be cold until the sun is up especially on game drives, in open top Jeeps and in the jungle. A light windproof or fleece jacket, warm hat, gloves and scarf are recommended. During the day we will need a wide brimmed sun hat and sunglasses. Lightweight, comfortable walking shoes are advised for throughout the holiday and for sightseeing. Special note: No bright colours in the field please, including brightly coloured clothes, hats, gloves, etc. Although the birds and other wildlife are relatively approachable, muted colours are essential to improve our chances.

We should bring a pair of binoculars in good repair. If we are keen birders we may want to bring a spotting scope. We should bring all the camera equipment, spare batteries, sufficient memory cards and storage. Plastic bags, cotton bags or pillowcases are useful to protect our camera equipment from dust and sand. A small daypack/camera bag is essential for carrying excess clothing, camera equipment and a water bottle for the game drives.
