What is offered?
• All NU students on UG and PGT degrees• Some places available for Research students• Staff not currently eligible
Who is it for?
• A range of free 10-credit, one-semester modules in…• Mandarin Chinese, French, German and Spanish• Classes take place between 5 and 7pm on weekdays• Levels offered in 2014-15: Beginners to Lower intermediate• Only available as supernumerary modules• Participation at the discretion of home school/department
How are the modules structured?• 3 weekly contact hours:• A 2-hour language class• A 1-hour Guided Independent Learning session
• A blended approach to learning:• Interactive language seminars• Access to Tell Me More®, a state of the art language
learning software• Dedicated support from trained language learning
advisors• Workshops designed to enhance your learning experience• An award-winning Language Resource Centre (LRC)

• Modules are capped so places are not guaranteed• Check with your School/DPD that you are eligible• Go to http://www.ncl.ac.uk/uwlp • Read the Student Handbook• If necessary, assess your language level for free here • When ready, fill in the form located here• You can express up to three preferences• If successful, your place will be confirmed at the start of
the academic year• Unsuccessful candidates will be placed on a waiting list
and notified if/when a place becomes available
