Speech de-identification The speech technology team has expertise in speech recognition.

Within this area, they focus on the application of the newest machine learning methods.

Deep Neural Networks: this technology has recently achieved breakthrough results in speech recognition. We have our own deep neural network implementation that has state-of-the-art performance.

Convolutional Neural Networks: this is the newest research direction within deep neural networks. With this technology we hold the phone speech recognition record on the TIMIT database.

The research group has results with the recognition of emotions and other para-linguistic content. This year they won the paralinguistic challenge of the Interspeech conference using AdaBoost.

The group is interested in contributing to those parts of the project that require machine learning. This would mainly be voice conversion, but our sophisticated learning algorithms are probably applicable to other tasks as well (e.g. image processing).

Image processing group

Zoltán Kató and his colleges at the department are currently

working on analysis of still images and video recordings,

mobile camera networks like (SmartPhones), extraction of

visual objects upon their shape and other properties, fusion of

visual information, image recognition.

Image processing group would like to apply digital retouching

algorithms and specific modifications to de-identify still

images and videos.

Text processing group Several big research and development projects during

last 10 years

Linguistic databases (POS-tagged corpus, Szeged Treebank, Hungarian wordnet)

CoNLL competitions, among 1-3 places; giving training and test data;

Basic linguistic infrastructure (named entity recognition, POS-tagger, syntactic parser) for Hungarian in Java and C/C++, dependency parser.

Applications on the top of this infrastructure: text semantic tagging, information extraction by semantic frames, Hungarian-English translator, word sense disambiguation, search engine that recognizes verb phrase structure elements etc.

Exploiting databases, creating linguistic software by machine learning algorithms using the databases.

Abdominal CT on April 14 , showed a 12 x 8 x 8 cm mass in the region of the left liver , and appeared to be from the lesser curvature of the stomach or left liver .
