University of Oulu in brief
The University of Oulu is an international research and innovation university engaged in multidisciplinary basic research and academic education. The University promotes advanced research, education and culture, and strengthens
the knowledge and skills base leading to enhanced wellbeing. Its activities ensure the availability of a
highly-trained specialist workforce and research capacity.
The University encompasses eight fields of study: Humanities, Education, Economics and Business, Science, Medicine, Dentistry, Health Sciences, and Technology. In all, more than 70 different specialist disciplines are represented. In Oulu, the University operates on two campuses: Linnanmaa and Kontinkangas.
The strengths of the University are its broad academic base, top-level research in its chosen focus areas, and quality education. The University of Oulu has close links to the business community and other research institutions. It collaborates with hundreds of universities and partners abroad.
