W e lco m eWelcome to the Graduation Ball 2010. As the largest black tie event in the University Calendar and is most probably the last event that you will attend at University, we hope that it proves to be a truly memorable evening.

Graduation Ball returns to Colwick hall for its sixth year and promises to be bigger and better than ever before.

This event is a time for you to celebrate, reminisce and say your fi nal goodbyes.

We hope that you all have a fantastic evening and wish you the very best for the future.

One last party,

One special venue,

One night to remember…

V e n u eColwick Hall Hotel is a magnifi cent Palladian style Georgian country house mansion nestling in over sixty acres of parkland. A historic building dating back to Saxon times and once the ancestral home of Lord Byron Colwick Hall is a grade II* listed manor with a grand entrance overlooking Nottingham racecourse offering exquisite facilities. From the award winning Georgetown Restaurant, The 1776 Grand Ballroom, several function rooms, the Lakeside Pavilion overlooking the lake and the Grand Marquee, the venue and setting, together with its style is unbeatable!

On the night we will occupy the hall and the grounds in its entirety! With the Lakeside Pavilion and Grand Marquee housing the main entertainments, four function rooms with themed bars and attractions, deck and extensive gardens for you to party away the night in style.

Colwick Hall is the perfect setting for a once in a lifetime ball.

T r a n s p o rtTransport is complimentary for all guests and a full timetable is shown below. Please be pa-tient when waiting for busses, we will ensure that everyone gets there! If there isn’t enough room for you on a bus, we will send one back to pick you up.

The end of the night can be quite hectic, so again, please be patient and follow the queuing systems in place. To make your arrival and departure as smooth as possible, we will be blocking the slip road with security and only allowing authorised vehicles to drop off and collect from the Hall. Please bear this in mind if you plan to use private hire taxis.

e n t e rta i n m e n tWe aim to bring you nothing but the best enter-tainments at this year’s Graduation Ball. Expect to see a combination of live music and DJ’s and much, much more…

Ellie GouldingEllie Goulding is a complicated thing in a seemingly simple package. On fi rst hearing, she’s a bright and shiny 22 year old singer-songwriter, with her fi ngers on her guitar, her feet in a night-club and her head in the heavens. But very few singer-songwriters, young or old, can fl ip between dance-til-you-drop euphoria and wistful, journeying space-folk to leave listeners with. We haven’t seen Ellie appear on any other University line-ups this year so we are utterly thrilled and excited to welcome her to the 2010 Graduation Ball.

Aled (BBC Radio 1)Welsh born Aled Jones started his radio presenting career at just 14 on hospital radio. He joined Radio 1 in 1999 and has now become most known as being the producer for The Chris Moyles Show. From June this year you will hear him hosting his own show for the BBC on Saturday mornings. There isn’t much to say about Aled apart but we know he will put the ‘fun’ element into this year’s ball, oh and in what he described as a ‘slightly embarrassing’ title, Aled was named as the 2004 Male Rear of the Year!

Beat a MaxxBeat a Maxx will be taking us back to the 90’s as he mixes turntablism with state of the art video technology, mashing together the biggest tunes, fi lm, and TV. With his exclusive video remixes and ingenious video DJing to the limit!

Food & Dr inkYou can fi nd bars located in both marquees as well as inside Colwick Hall. Bars will be open until 1.30am inside Colwick Hall and 2.00am in the Grand Marquee.

There will be Catering on site for those of you who fancy a snack during the evening. There will be a wide selection of hot nibbles and foods available from 8.30pm.

Ronnie HerelRonnie Herel is a true embassador of urban music so it was no surprise when BBC 1’s sister station 1extra snapped him up as one of their fi rst signings. Ronnie truly enjoys playing to a national audience but still holds residencies across the UK. As the most listened 1extra DJ make sure you don’t miss Ronnie playing the very best in old and new skool RnB.

Cuttin EdgeBringing a touch of the London dance scene to Graduation ball, Cuttin Edge will be playing upfront house music with his unique blends and scratches. So if you fancy something slightly different this year his set is one not to be missed. Cuttin Edge is an allround crowd please and has held residencies at a number of London clubs including the Embassy, you can catch his show on the Uk’s leading underground music station www.unknownfm.net every Tuesday night.

Andy HoeWe all love Andy Hoe and know him best as Oceans resident DJ. Andy has played at Grad Ball for the past three years and can’t wait to get back there in 2010-and neither can we! Expect to dance your socks of and reminisce with Andy’s cheesy playlist.

DJ SwitchUniversity of Nottingham student and twice DMC world champ DJ Switch will be opening the main stage for us this year. Expect to hear a little bit of everything as he describes ‘cut, sliced, mixed and layered to make a very tasty lasagne’. Mmmm!

Rat Pack TrioThese guys have successfully toured venues throughout the UK and Europe for over eight years and are accomplished as Britain’s longest running Rat Pack tribute show. Look out for ex-Eastenders star and weatherman Des Coleman who joins us as Sammy Davis Jnr!

The Jonny Slater Jazz QuartetThe Jonny Slater Jazz Quartet was formed in February, 2006, and comprises some of Nottingham University’s fi nest jazz talent. Their fi rst performance was in our very own Derby Hall, and since then they have played at a series of high profi le gigs and functions. The Jonny Slater Jazz Quartet will be providing this year’s dinner entertainment.

CasinoIf you need a break from the excitement of the main marquee why not cool down and try your luck in our fun Casino in the Grand Ballroom. Black Jack, roulette and much more…

FireworksTo start this year’s celebrations with a bang, expect to see a spectacular display above Colwick Hall.

PhotographerCapture your memories of this year’s event and visit one of the photographers studio’s on the back lawns of Colwick Hall. You have the option to purchase prints on the night or you can view and buy photographs online after the event at www.takethatphoto.co.uk

Walk-about entertainmentThis year’s entertainment line up never stops, with much happening outside of the Marquees and Hall. We have booked some fantastic walk-about acts, so expect to be amazed by our magicians and multi-skilled performers!
