Members may not apply for money to be used for perishable items such as animal feed, but could be used for a show stick. Scholarships are due to the Extension Center by October 15. Members must have an active status in 4-H Online and enrolled in the project in which the scholarship is requested. No funds will be awarded or dispersed until these conditions are met. As part of the agreement, you are required to submit a receipt of purchase and/or photo of purchase and/or a short written description of purchase and how it was used. You must also complete both the Yearly Project Record and the Missouri 4-H Recognition forms. Lower Project Scholarship - DUE OCTOBER 15

The Lower Project Scholarship is a new scholarship starting in the 2017-2018 4-H Year. This financial scholarship is funded by the Pettis County 4-H Foundation and the Pettis County Extension Council. The Lower Project Scholarship was created to give any 4-H member the opportunity to try a new project, or take a current project to a new level. The scholarship is an application for money that can help a member meet their project goals. An example of this might be a request for money to buy a horse riding helmet, a fishing pole, or cooking utensils. Members may not apply for money to be used for perishable items such as animal feed, but could be used for a show stick.

Scholarships are due to the Extension Center by October 15. Winners will be selected from a committee made up of the two funding organizations. Be prepared to give a short (2-3 min) presentation about your project and how the awarded funds will be used. After the presentation, we will take a group photo. Officer Training Officer Training is Monday, October 30, 2017 at 6:30pm at Our Savior Lutheran Gym across from Aldi’s. If you are an elected officer, either on Council or in your club, please be invited to this meeting!

Committee of Committees - COC The idea for COC evolved from the Council’s need to simplify the calendar in order to make nightly committee meetings more manageable. COC essentially wraps up all the Council Committees into one night per month. There will be time slots for each topic and the goal is to cover several different topics at each meeting, once per month. We will let Council Members know the agenda beforehand. If there is someone specifically interested in helping plan one event, we should know when we will meet on that topic. We hope youth can be involved in the whole meeting, but understand that time can be limited.

Pettis County 4-H will hold the monthly COC on the 4th Monday of each month at 6:00 pm at the Extension Center.

An example of the first meeting might look like this: *Agenda is subject to change* Recap from Lock-In Recap from Carnival Recap from 4-H Week Dana Gillig Fundraiser Christmas Parade Entry

Texas 4-H and Relief Efforts

Hurricane relief efforts in Texas are underway and Dr. Toby Lepley, Assistant 4-H Program Leader in Texas, has provided information about how 4-H is stepping up to assist. Missouri 4-Hers, families and volunteers in your area may want to contribute to the effort so please consider guidance from Texas 4-H if/when making plans. Dr. Lepley shared the following statement from Texas 4-H: Hurricane Harvey has definitely taken a toll on Texas, with millions affected by the damage to the Texas coast as well as the massive flooding in Houston and the surrounding areas – with more damage and loss anticipated in the coming days. Many across the state and nation have asked how they can help those who have been directly impacted by Hurricane Harvey. The Texas 4-H Youth Development Program and the Texas 4-H Youth Development Founda-tion are teaming up to facilitate a campaign to directly support county 4-H programs and 4-H clubs in the areas af-fected by Hurricane Harvey. We realize that many 4-H clubs and county programs across the state of Texas have already begun hosting supply drives, which is great! If you can facilitate that and get the items delivered quickly and efficiently to the storm zone, please move forward with those plans. We ask that you help us capture everyone’s efforts and report your activity at: https://fs4.formsite.com/state4h/harvey/index.html. If utilizing social media to promote your efforts, we also ask that you use #4HSupportsTexas to help us capture the impact of 4-H youth.

Enrollment for 2017-2018 4-H Year

Since you are receiving the newsletter, you are likely already a 4-H member and just need to sign up for the 2017-2018 4-H year. Beginning October 1, you will be able to re-enroll for the 4-H year. Here are the steps you will need to take to get enrolled. 1. Go to http://mo.4honline.com (notice there is no “www” in that address). 2. Log in to your family profile with your log-in email address. (If you can’t remember your password, select “I forgot my password”) Continue to your Family Member list. 3. Select "Edit" next to the member you are re-enrollling. 4. Select "Enroll for 2017-2018" at the bottom of the first page. 5. Review all content in the member profile, update any health form changes and change any projects (if you aren’t enrolling in a project, delete it for this year). 6. Submit your enrollment, and pay required dues reflected on member invoices. 7. Please, please do NOT create a new profile, just update the old one. Even if your email address has changed, still use the old one to log in and then update to your new email address. Again, this year all state event registrations will require a member to be in “Active” status in 4-HOnline. Mem-bers will remain in “Pending” status until the county review of membership and state membership dues are pro-cessed. Adult volunteer applicants remain in “Pending” status until all steps of the volunteer process are com-pleted. If paying by cash or check, you may send payment directly to the Extension Center at 1012A Thompson Blvd, Sedalia Mo 65301. Call the office at 660-827-0591 and Heather, Nan or Blake can assist as needed.

Announcement for Club Reporter or Secretary

Send in your club minutes or meeting notes to [email protected] so we can publish them in the Pettis Clover Newsletter! Reports should be to Nan via email by the third Friday of the month.
