NEW DELHI, Mar 4:

The Indian Space ResearchOrganisation (ISRO) is settingup the Indian RegionalNavigation Satellite System(IRNSS) to provide positioning

and navigational services inmainland and surroundingregion up to 1500 Km, DrJitendra Singh Minister of Statein the Prime Minister’s Office(PMO) said in Lok Sabha today.

IRNSS consists of sevensatellites in a constellation,three satellites in geo-stationaryorbit and four satellites in geo-synchronous orbit.

The objective of IRNSS is toprovide positioning servicesover Indian region with anabsolute position accuracy ofbetter than 20 metres.

It also provides two servicesnamely Standard PositioningService (SPS) for Civilian usersand Restricted Service (RS) forstrategic users.

Out of the seven satellitesrequired in the constellation,three—IRNSS-1A, 1B and1C—have already been success-fully placed in the orbit.

The fourth satellite IRNSS-1D is scheduled for launch thismonth while work on theremaining three satellites is inprogress. (PTI)

352 Indian prisoners lodged in Pak jails: Govt

NEW DELHI, Mar 4:The number of Indian prisoners, including fishermen, in

Pakistani jails as on date is 352, the government today said.External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj told Lok Sabha that

as per Agreement on Consular Access between India and Pakistan,2008, both the countries have exchanged on January 1, this yearlists related to prisoners.

In a written reply, she said that as per the list given by Pakistanon January 1, 2015, there were 50 civil prisoners and 476 fisher-men believed to be Indian in Pakistani custody. (PTI)
